  1. Maybe the offense will be better after seeing this guy once.
  2. Jason Kendall was a KW target before the 2005 season. Thank God Billy Beane won that auction and AJ fell into KW's lap.
  3. The bum A-Rod has 6 homers and 15 RBI already. How many guys don't want him on the White Sox?
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) How do you get RBI? By knocking in people that are already on base or hitting a homerun and driving yourself in. If you're hitting below .200, chances are you aren't hitting too many homeruns (or just suck at everything else in which case you are a pretty crappy hitter anyway). So, what happens when the players before this crappy hitter aren't getting on? The RBIs stop, and the player loses any sense of productivity that they ever had (however small it was in the first place). THIS is why people rather players who are more productive (say, .300/.350/.500) over players that can't hit, but get RBIs. The players who actually hit well are more likely to stay productive over the course of a handful of years, and don't rely on other players on the team to make opportunities. On the contrary, the crappy hitting player will need to either pick up their game or continue to rely on the players in front of him, which is a horrible, horrible approach to the plate in baseball. Make sense? Ever heard of productive outs? Young must have a few or he just gets hits when there are runners on base. Driving in runs is an art. Most guys hitting .182 would strike out or pop up to second with a runner on third. I think the fact that he still is driving in runs while not hitting very well is a good sign. He's not going to hit below .200 much longer.
  5. Is it even confirmed he's getting divorced?
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) She would not, as a matter of normal business, have a say in when the paper was served. If he wasn't living at their home, or if for some reason the home was impossible to enter, then being served at work would happen. Servers do not want to be chasing people all over the place. I have also heard where the two attorney's will get together and arrange for the paper to be served. I won't take sides, being a spouse of someone who travels extensively and who has women tossing themselves at his feet, must be very stressful. It seems that more athletes are less than wonderful husbands. But they would have to get through security to serve him in the clubhouse. I just don't see that happening.
  7. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) Process servers are legal like supeonas and most likely would be allowed to enter the clubhouse. Fisk was released in the summer of 93 and showed up to the playoffs and they wouldn't let him in the clubhouse. One of my best friends used to serve people as a summer job in college. Unless things have really changed the last few years, there isn't a chance in hell of someone serving divorce papers getting into a major league clubhouse 15 minutes before a game.
  8. Why is the Comcast gun only supposedly slow when White Sox pitchers are throwing?
  9. Alex Snelius is still donating money. Anyone read the article about him in Chicago Magazine? He has some cash flow problems apparently.

  11. Just when Thome looks like he's 100 years old, he hits one 420 feet.
  12. Contreras has trimmed 45 runs off his ERA tonight.
  13. Contreras has zero confidence right now.
  14. I believe there will be no Uribe hate by July.
  15. Dick Allen replied to WSoxMatt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jimbo has known for a while he had no chance. I have a neighborhood parking pass. I bet it will be easier to find a spot around there now.
  16. I don't see how in the world he would get served papers in the clubhouse. They wouldn't let Carlton Fisk in the clubhouse during the 1993 playoffs. No way they'd let a process server in. I don't buy it.
  17. If you're happy with 1 out of 3, you must like the Sox chances at a top 5 pick in the June 2008 draft. 2 out of 3 should be what makes you happy and giddy with a sweep.
  18. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Definitely. It's like the line-up just quits against Santana and Sabbathia. Maybe Ozzie will try something really unconventional next time: the gindz0rs line-up: no boppers, go something ridiculous like: Pods Erstad (1B) Iguchi AJ Mackowiak (RF) Crede Ozuna (DH) Uribe Anderson It cannot be any worse than the last 5 or 10 outings we've seen against those two. I'm one of Anderson's biggest fans, but Santana would make him look silly. Thome has 3 homers vs. Santana in his career. 2 last season. I'd leave him in. Someone mentioned sitting on his fastball. Thats fine and dandy, the only problem is he has one of the best change-ups of all time, and you still will probably struggle. There's no magic formula to beating him, you really have to get very lucky or catch him on an off day. Left handed hitters seem to have a little more success vs. him. I do agree that the team seems resigned to losing when he takes the mound against them now.
  19. Vazquez was great. A little shaky early, screwing around with 0-2 counts, but was really good. Of course it was so cold, not exactly hitting weather. Silva was putting zeros on the board as well. But you can't take away giving up 1 hit and no runs. I hope he can keep it up . I'm not ready to call him a Cy Young contender yet.
  20. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 07:51 AM) Call me an optimist but I'm looking forward to Javy. He's always, IMO, been this/close to tweaking that one thing that will make him awesome. He has great stuff. If Javy has a great year, I'd say things are looking good for us. Its going to be so cold, Vazquez should bust everyone in all day long. Give everyone the bees. It can really hurt batting on a day like today, Vazquez needs to use the elements to his advantage. Throw hard and in and he should put up good numbers today.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Actually I can. He gave a definition for the word he used, that definition makes NO sense when substituted into the comment. Therefore either he just has terrible grammar and should be pulled off TV because he doesn't know how to talk or he's lying. I never even said I had a problem with what he said, I just hate the fact that he's lying to cover his ass. He isn't even going to face any sort of suspension for what he said, just own up you pussy. I don't like Packer, but isn't it pretty sad that what he said causes such a furor that he possibly does have to lie to cover his ass? Really, who cares if he said f**ging out.
  22. Its funny, a lot of people who complain about Hawk's "homerism" also complain that the national media including network announcers and ESPN and the Tribune are all anti-Sox. Maybe some of his stuff is a little over the top, but he loves the Sox just like everyone on this board. I hardly think thats a bad thing.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) Credit KW for his amazing offseason. The Thornton thing doesn't bother me....it's the middle relief I have an issue with. He acquired no one with a track record. Just a bunch of guys who supposedly throw 95-98. They hadn't been all that successful at that velocity and don't seem to be near it now.
  24. This is a bizarre game. Martinez throws someone out stealing, and Erstad walks.
