White Sox vs. A's, 4/09/07 (W)
Alex Snelius is still donating money. Anyone read the article about him in Chicago Magazine? He has some cash flow problems apparently.

White Sox vs. A's, 4/09/07 (W)
Just when Thome looks like he's 100 years old, he hits one 420 feet.

White Sox vs. A's, 4/09/07 (W)
Contreras has trimmed 45 runs off his ERA tonight.

Contreras has zero confidence right now.

I believe there will be no Uribe hate by July.

Jimbos
Jimbo has known for a while he had no chance. I have a neighborhood parking pass. I bet it will be easier to find a spot around there now.

Contreras Rumor
I don't see how in the world he would get served papers in the clubhouse. They wouldn't let Carlton Fisk in the clubhouse during the 1993 playoffs. No way they'd let a process server in. I don't buy it.

Would you be happy with 1 of 3?
If you're happy with 1 out of 3, you must like the Sox chances at a top 5 pick in the June 2008 draft. 2 out of 3 should be what makes you happy and giddy with a sweep.

Postgame Thread 4/8
QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Definitely. It's like the line-up just quits against Santana and Sabbathia. Maybe Ozzie will try something really unconventional next time: the gindz0rs line-up: no boppers, go something ridiculous like: Pods Erstad (1B) Iguchi AJ Mackowiak (RF) Crede Ozuna (DH) Uribe Anderson It cannot be any worse than the last 5 or 10 outings we've seen against those two. I'm one of Anderson's biggest fans, but Santana would make him look silly. Thome has 3 homers vs. Santana in his career. 2 last season. I'd leave him in. Someone mentioned sitting on his fastball. Thats fine and dandy, the only problem is he has one of the best change-ups of all time, and you still will probably struggle. There's no magic formula to beating him, you really have to get very lucky or catch him on an off day. Left handed hitters seem to have a little more success vs. him. I do agree that the team seems resigned to losing when he takes the mound against them now.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Vazquez was great. A little shaky early, screwing around with 0-2 counts, but was really good. Of course it was so cold, not exactly hitting weather. Silva was putting zeros on the board as well. But you can't take away giving up 1 hit and no runs. I hope he can keep it up . I'm not ready to call him a Cy Young contender yet.

White Sox vs. Twins, 4/7/07 (W)
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 07:51 AM) Call me an optimist but I'm looking forward to Javy. He's always, IMO, been this/close to tweaking that one thing that will make him awesome. He has great stuff. If Javy has a great year, I'd say things are looking good for us. Its going to be so cold, Vazquez should bust everyone in all day long. Give everyone the bees. It can really hurt batting on a day like today, Vazquez needs to use the elements to his advantage. Throw hard and in and he should put up good numbers today.

Do you believe Billy Packer?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Actually I can. He gave a definition for the word he used, that definition makes NO sense when substituted into the comment. Therefore either he just has terrible grammar and should be pulled off TV because he doesn't know how to talk or he's lying. I never even said I had a problem with what he said, I just hate the fact that he's lying to cover his ass. He isn't even going to face any sort of suspension for what he said, just own up you pussy. I don't like Packer, but isn't it pretty sad that what he said causes such a furor that he possibly does have to lie to cover his ass? Really, who cares if he said f**ging out.

Revisiting Hawk Harrelson
Its funny, a lot of people who complain about Hawk's "homerism" also complain that the national media including network announcers and ESPN and the Tribune are all anti-Sox. Maybe some of his stuff is a little over the top, but he loves the Sox just like everyone on this board. I hardly think thats a bad thing.

White Sox vs. Indians, 4/4/07 (L)
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) Credit KW for his amazing offseason. The Thornton thing doesn't bother me....it's the middle relief I have an issue with. He acquired no one with a track record. Just a bunch of guys who supposedly throw 95-98. They hadn't been all that successful at that velocity and don't seem to be near it now.

White Sox vs. Indians, 4/4/07 (L)
This is a bizarre game. Martinez throws someone out stealing, and Erstad walks.

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) thank god we have a reliable pen and as an aside, why cant we home grow players like grady sizemore... Cleveland got Sizemore when they traded Colon.

White Sox vs. Indians, 4/4/07 (L)
MacDougal isn't exactly the guy you want on the mound with a teacup strikezone.
-
White Sox vs. Indians, 4/4/07 (L)
If Victor Martinez is throwing you out and really SBs are all you bring to the table, its time for Pods to pull a Kruk and go into the clubhouse and retire.
-
White Sox vs. Indians, 4/4/07 (L)
Pods needs to go here. Martinez couldn't throw out Ron Santo.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) If i recall correctly, we started 0-4 last year. Lets not jump to conclusions Didn't the Sox win the opener last year?

I think some chin music is in order. The Tribe have been way too comfortable at the plate.

White Sox vs. Indians, 4/4/07 (L)
The team ERA was lower in AZ. Maybe the Sox should play their home games down there in April.

Opening Day: White Sox vs. Indians, 4/2/07 (L)
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) Either one of two explanations: injury or lack of preparation. Here's an obvious problem -- within the first month the White Sox play 20+ games against divisional opponents. Contreras better disclose any arm troubles or find his velocity rather quickly. The sad thing is the gun at USCF had him constantly at 91. If he wasn't throwing hard, Masset at 92 and Jenks at 93 weren't exactly bringing it either. The fact that really nobody knows Contreras' age is a red flag right now IMO. I know its been beaten to death, but there are a lot of people who would have a better idea than anyone in the US who swear Contreras is older than El Duque. He does take care of himself, but if he really is close to 45 he can lose it in a hurry. I will wait to rush judgement and go with he just had a bad day for now.

Altman Leaves Arkansas for Creighton
As much as I don't care for Arkansas, I think this is pretty bogus of Altman. Don't accept the job unless you are sure you want it.

Ozzie: "If we don't win, fire me"
While as I have posted above, think Ozzie will never get fired because of the team's performance, it doesn't mean that at some point, if the team sucks he would deserve it. Take Gene LaMont. LaMont won 2 divisions and if you believe all would have won the WS if there was one in 94. In 95, his GM gives away his ace, and gives him Chris Sabo and John Kruk. The team sucks and he gets fired only 31 games into 1995. On top of all that, he his replaced with perhaps the biggest baffoon in major league baseball managerial history.
