  1. Cintron has no chance against good gas right now.
  2. Erstad should change his number to 43.
  3. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) Remind me again, what the point of Mack playing tonight against Washburn is??? Seriously, Sweeney is still right handed isn't he? Actually Sweeney is LH
  4. Wasn't Washburn thought of as the poor man's Mark Buerhle?
  5. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) Yeah, lets not get ahead of ourselves yet. But we're 4th in the AL in home runs!!! Who cares how runs are scored!?!?! LOLZ! The White Sox have relied on homeruns to score even when they were supposedly playing "Ozzieball". When they hit their 200th homer last season, they had scored almost exactly the same amount of runs they had scored in 2005 when they hit 200 homers for the season. It was within 2 or 3 IIRC.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) Neither was Buehrle, but I'm glad we didn't kick him out like you wanted. The money for 2006 and 2007 shouldn't be held against him because the Yankees threw all that at cash him when he wasn't pitching like an average starter on a below average team. Do a search and try to find when I said kick out Buerhle. I would trade him for a nice package. Not Gavin Floyd, and I certainly wouldn't match the best offer he will get this off season, and neither will JR. KW threw a lot of money at him for 2008,2009 and 2010 way before he needed to.
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) Yes, but you can't pin it ALL on Vazquez or use it against him when the bullpen blows two leads in the same game. The guy gets paid $12.5 million a year to pitch. Maybe you can't pin ALL the failures of his starts on him, but he needs to be A LOT better than he's been since he's joined the team. His record and ERA were not even league average last year.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) Interesting article on Chris Young in Baseball America. He's going to be a special player. I still think KW is high on Anderson. Young is going to be a nice player. I still don't understand signing Vazquez to an extension when you have him under control for 2 seasons. Especially when its a team's policy not to go more than 3 years with pitchers.
  9. Vazquez will probably tease everyone with a few more strikeouts tonight. It will be enough for some to continue to be excited about him, but he is just an average at best pitcher. He was below .500 last year on a team that won 90 games and he had the lead in all but 3 or 4 of his starts.
  10. Did you know Sexson got his first single this year in his 78th plate appearance?
  11. KW actually came quite close to landing Bradley when he was with the Expos. I think the Indians got him, and he of course ran out his welcome. He would be fine for a little while.
  12. Playing everyday in Charlotte is going to be a whole lot better for Anderson than getting 3 or 4 ABs a week in Chicago. Terrero blows. I don't see how he'll help the team. If he' the best option they have, they might as well just call up another pitcher.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) ...a crying shame. How's the surfing in Charlotte? Better yet, how's the pot? That's a cheap shot. I also highly doubt BA is the only White Sox who enjoys his downtime.
  14. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) If an atrocious swing gets you in Ozzie's doghouse, I'm all for a player staying there. If an atrocious swing gets you into his doghouse, there must be a few new wings being built right now.
  15. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) The common expectation is that Anderson is gone for good and KW and Ozzie are fighting. I don't think that is so on either count. Anderson needs playing time. That was agreed on by both Kenny and Oz. He wasn't ready last year either so hopefully this helps him get on track. I don't know who goes up or down in the near future, but probably not who we expect. I bet we see Hall in pretty soon and Molina down plus Thome will come back and then we keep the players we now have up with the team including Sweeney Hall was helping out warming up a pitcher between innings today. Watching him throw the ball back to the mound, it would be a minor miracle to me if he's able to catch at a major league performance level this season. While I don't think Ozzie and KW are fighting, I don't think they are seeing entirely eye to eye. KW made sure that if they called someone up they would play more than half the time. I think KW thinks a lot more of BA's baseball ability than does the manager.
  16. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) There was a time when we drafted Black Jack, Frank, Robin Ventura, Alex Fernandez back to back to back to back. We had much higher picks back then, but it's still hard to be nearly 0-10 the way we have. That was Larry Himes and Al Goldis. They built the team the way you are supposed to, and got shown the door. because apparently Himes is an ass and JR couldn't stand him. Other players the White Sox developed after they left were their guys too. Guys like Ray Durham. The excuse that they have drafted low is such a tired one. Take 1997. The White Sox had 7 of the first 62 picks. Dellaero, Kane, Caradonna, Myette, Parque, Biddle and Weaver and they didn't sign Weaver the best of the bunch. They passed on guys like Berkman who was picked right after Dellaero and Tim Hudson.
  17. Who are they bringing up, Fields and his .218 batting average?
  18. Rogo is hitting .141 in Charlotte with 1 homer. He soon will be 26 years old. I'm thinking there is little chance anyone would really want to put him on their 40 man, and if they do, I really doubt the White Sox would or even should care.
  19. There really is no way to accurately come up with the White Sox rotation 2 or 3 years from now especially if you are doing it mostly with minor leaguers. So many things happen.
  20. If you guys think Anderson has no clue at the plate, wait until you see Terrero against major league pitchers. BA does need to play though, and even if Terrero is no better, in the long run it is better for BA.
  21. He's in Oz with Dorothy, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow.
  22. I saw Liu Rodriquez. He is working in the circus with a bearded lady.
  23. Hunter didn't intentionally break a rule. It really would be absurd if he was punished in any way.
  24. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) I hear you, but the only problem is then we're back to Mack as our backup CF. So what. Anderson, who I am a big fan of, is wasting space right now. Ozzie doesn't use him much anyway. When Erstad goes down, KW can bring in Rowand.
  25. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) The lineup is all sorts of messed up tonight. You should still get 670 AM down here, that's how I'm following the game. The game is on regular comcast sportsnet right now.
