  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) I liked our CIO, he was a great guy. Everyone got along with him, and he was great. We had an HR survey, and voted him best boss to work for. Our CEO fired him a month ago. Do you think that KW is going to tank this year over a hitting coach. Do you think that they want to go into the dumper after investing 100 million in a team that just started getting people back to the park. Come on. Like was posted above, the team with the same hitting coach led the world in runs scored the first half of last season. I find it hard to believe Greg Walker is the reason Konerko is hitting .180. Dye is hitting .215 AJ .215 Crede the same. All of these guys have had great offensive seasons with Walker has the hitting coach. KW is not going to wax him, and he shouldn't .
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Post All-Star the White Sox were 9th in runs scored in the AL, between the Angels and Toronto. How the Hell Boston came in at 11th I'll never know. Its because of their hitting coach.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) Well, when this happened 4 years ago, the White Sox did replace their hitting coach (2003, Gary Ward replaced by Greg Walker). And in Mid-May, nonetheless. Ward was having a lot of personal issues with players. Most couldn't stand him. They like Walker. I would be absolutely shocked if the White Sox canned Walker, at least during the season.
  4. So let me get this straight, people actually believe Greg Walker tells guys to go up to the plate and swing as hard as they can just in case they hit it. He also tells them not to work a count. Swing at as many pitches as they can, regardless of their location. I really don't know what to think of Walker as a hitting coach, but I find it hard to believe he's the reason the team can't hit right now.
  5. I'm no fan of Vazquez, but any runs this inning are on Ozzie.
  6. Hawk, that pitch is clearly low.
  7. You have to give Burke a lot of credit for sticking it out. He's 35 and this is the first season he was on the major league roster on opening day.
  8. QUOTE(SoxAce @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) WTF is JD complaining about? That was right there. It may have been a little low, but he's doing you a favor throwing a low fastball down the heart of the plate. JD could have hit that ball hard if he wasn't focused on hitting it into the LF upper deck.
  9. Dye moved after the ball had past. Good thing that wasn't right at him or he would be looking like Cher's son in Mask.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) Cintron continues his horrible play. If we had any other back-up SS, Cintron would be a candidate for our annual DFA. I think he is still recovering from his surgery. I wonder how long he will be recovering.
  11. Cintron has no chance against good gas right now.
  12. Erstad should change his number to 43.
  13. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) Remind me again, what the point of Mack playing tonight against Washburn is??? Seriously, Sweeney is still right handed isn't he? Actually Sweeney is LH
  14. Wasn't Washburn thought of as the poor man's Mark Buerhle?
  15. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) Yeah, lets not get ahead of ourselves yet. But we're 4th in the AL in home runs!!! Who cares how runs are scored!?!?! LOLZ! The White Sox have relied on homeruns to score even when they were supposedly playing "Ozzieball". When they hit their 200th homer last season, they had scored almost exactly the same amount of runs they had scored in 2005 when they hit 200 homers for the season. It was within 2 or 3 IIRC.
  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) Neither was Buehrle, but I'm glad we didn't kick him out like you wanted. The money for 2006 and 2007 shouldn't be held against him because the Yankees threw all that at cash him when he wasn't pitching like an average starter on a below average team. Do a search and try to find when I said kick out Buerhle. I would trade him for a nice package. Not Gavin Floyd, and I certainly wouldn't match the best offer he will get this off season, and neither will JR. KW threw a lot of money at him for 2008,2009 and 2010 way before he needed to.
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) Yes, but you can't pin it ALL on Vazquez or use it against him when the bullpen blows two leads in the same game. The guy gets paid $12.5 million a year to pitch. Maybe you can't pin ALL the failures of his starts on him, but he needs to be A LOT better than he's been since he's joined the team. His record and ERA were not even league average last year.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) Interesting article on Chris Young in Baseball America. He's going to be a special player. I still think KW is high on Anderson. Young is going to be a nice player. I still don't understand signing Vazquez to an extension when you have him under control for 2 seasons. Especially when its a team's policy not to go more than 3 years with pitchers.
  19. Vazquez will probably tease everyone with a few more strikeouts tonight. It will be enough for some to continue to be excited about him, but he is just an average at best pitcher. He was below .500 last year on a team that won 90 games and he had the lead in all but 3 or 4 of his starts.
  20. Did you know Sexson got his first single this year in his 78th plate appearance?
  21. KW actually came quite close to landing Bradley when he was with the Expos. I think the Indians got him, and he of course ran out his welcome. He would be fine for a little while.
  22. Playing everyday in Charlotte is going to be a whole lot better for Anderson than getting 3 or 4 ABs a week in Chicago. Terrero blows. I don't see how he'll help the team. If he' the best option they have, they might as well just call up another pitcher.
  23. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) ...a crying shame. How's the surfing in Charlotte? Better yet, how's the pot? That's a cheap shot. I also highly doubt BA is the only White Sox who enjoys his downtime.
  24. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) If an atrocious swing gets you in Ozzie's doghouse, I'm all for a player staying there. If an atrocious swing gets you into his doghouse, there must be a few new wings being built right now.
  25. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) The common expectation is that Anderson is gone for good and KW and Ozzie are fighting. I don't think that is so on either count. Anderson needs playing time. That was agreed on by both Kenny and Oz. He wasn't ready last year either so hopefully this helps him get on track. I don't know who goes up or down in the near future, but probably not who we expect. I bet we see Hall in pretty soon and Molina down plus Thome will come back and then we keep the players we now have up with the team including Sweeney Hall was helping out warming up a pitcher between innings today. Watching him throw the ball back to the mound, it would be a minor miracle to me if he's able to catch at a major league performance level this season. While I don't think Ozzie and KW are fighting, I don't think they are seeing entirely eye to eye. KW made sure that if they called someone up they would play more than half the time. I think KW thinks a lot more of BA's baseball ability than does the manager.
