QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) Did you stay at the Windsor Casino? They have a sweet horse racing gambling game there. I went there after the game last night. I played blackjack and was up $80 after 2 hands. I would rather not say how the evening ended. Although I did get solicited by an approx. 55 year old blond. I told her I was broke.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) We were up at Comerica last year, and I thought the same thing. Brutal. Did u check out the cigar bar they just put in? No. I had a couple of $8 beers though. We stayed in Windsor, home of the Cuban cigar shops on every block. I think if I was 19 again, I may have died in Windsor.

I must say the owner of the Tigers made his money with Little Ceasar's I believe. I was starving and had a slice at Comerica last night. It was the worst piece of pizza I have ever had. That guy should be in jail for stealing, getting rich selling that crap.

Get the bullpen ready. Freddy is ready for some bong hits.

If Buerhle doesn't stop giving up hits, you aren't going to get top prospects for him until teams get to look at him in the spring to see if anything has changed, and make sure he isn't hurt.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Mets must be stealing signs. I hate Dave Duncan and Tony LaRussa. I am one White Sox fan who thought it was worth having Hawk as a GM to get rid of those 2. I also think Hawk made a couple of decent moves.

QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) my opinion on stone is that he's be great in the dugout. as far as being an evaluator of talent, there is nothing that points in that direction. but i'm sure he could manage the game with no problem So you're saying he can't evaluate talent, but you think he would be a good manager?

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) steve stone thinks freddys toast Steve Stone is a wise man. I have the feeling KW is going to regret not getting a nice package for Freddy. I think the market for him is going to dry up this off season unless he finds something his last few starts. That's very doubtful.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) I still can't believe we didn't try to actually "upgrade" our 2nd catcher position, especially considering how many tough lefties we have to face. KW went out of his way to say getting Sandy was the coaching staff's idea. I think in a way he threw them under a bus, because I'm sure he knew as many knew that Sandy's .323 average with LA was an illusion, and he would hit closer to .123 than .323 with the Sox, while adding nothing defensively. I think I sarcastically predicted he would hit .130 with the Sox. His .136 average may make some ask me who I think is going to win the Super Bowl.

QUOTE(joeynach @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) My friend watches the sox on directv baseball package in Colorado and said the detroit feed said thome out 4-6 weeks with hamstring strain!! This is huge we need for info pronto!!! Amazing the Detroit announcers would know Thome suffered a strain is severe enough to be out 4 to 6 weeks before any White Sox announcers do. You friend is BSing you, although I do think Thome is going to be on the shelf for a while. Hopefully no DL.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) Leyland did a masterful job at not removing Rogers there. He knew they had a better chance of getting out of that inning with Rogers, even if he wasn't as sharp, facing Sandy than Rodney facing one of our lefties. Exactly. When I saw him coming out of the dugout, I liked the Sox chances for runs, but then I realized that Jim Leyland doesn't make silly moves like that.

6 runs should be enough to win with an average pitching staff. I was in Detroit last night. Buerhle was horrible, and Detroit fans do not like Maggs, especially when he lost one in the lights and had the ball bounce off his ass. They did offer their support when he made a nice catch later. Its a shame the Sox were able to get the tying run to the plate, but had Alomar bat even though a left hander was on the mound. I think any of the Sox lefties have a better shot against Rogers than Sandy.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) We cannot clone BMac 3 times over. Ozzie has to keep trotting these guys out there to see if a couple of them start figuring out how to be competent again. I don't care if he uses BMac at some point, but Buerhle and Garcia really give the Sox no chance to win. They are brutal. Contreras is starting to resemble them and Vazquez obviously is a lost cause. At least send a message to your pitching staff and to your team, because throwing these guys out there is doing no good. LOL, Hawk just said how important these next 2 games are for Detroit. Hey Hawk, you may want to look at the standings in the paper.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Has a starting pitcher ever been traded while still pitching in a game? I would love for Ozzie to come out to the mound and tell Freddy that he needs to leave and pack his bags. Jaime Navaro b****ed about run support after the Sox gave him 9 runs. I suppose Freddy will find something wrong with his teammates' collective performances tonight. It beats looking in the mirror.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) He's got 5, but it's Freddy pitching, so he can just walk to second. If both your legs were broken, you have a 60% shot at second with Big Game Freddy on the hill.

Most of our starters have looked tired or injured at some point during this season. I thought the point of having 6 starters was in case this was the case. I guess I was wrong, but I will tell you one thing, Buerhle and Garcia aren't going to get better. They are either injured or exhausted.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) Now this is frustrating. Now we start hitting the ball the other way, and back up the middle. Why do we wait until the 9th inning to actually hit. The pitcher is a lot less talented.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) What happened? Gibbons went out to yank Lilly, they got into an argument on the mound. Gibbons followed Lilly up the tunnel, a few guys came in to break it up, and Gibbons emerged with a bloody nose.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) How hot are the A's right now? They were down 8-0 after two innings tonight. It's now 11-8 A's. I'm pretty sure Toronto is going to have a new manager next season. Lilly gave Gibbons a bloody nose tonight.
