  1. .262 after being hot for a week or so 12 homers and 47 rbi is pretty weak production, especially considering where he plays and the NL pitchers he faces. Rowand brings a lot of intensity to any team, and while losing the rest of the season on a play that had been made by a teammate against the Cubs may not be the smartest thing, to say something to him about it, and try to change him, would not be wise. If he starts thinking too much, the aggressiveness goes away, and if he doesn't have that, he's really not good enough to overcome it. I love his aggressiveness and attitude, and he would be a great 4th OF. Other than that, I really think if you look close enough, he's really nothing more than an average regular, if that.
  2. Ozuna 7 Iguchi 4 Dye 9 Konerko DH Crede 5 AJP 2 Uribe 6 Gload 3 Anderson 8
  3. I really think Thome hasn't been 100% in quite a while. I also think all the Gload fans will be surprised to see that there really is a reason why he doesn't play much if he is exposed as a regular. A long-term injury to Thome would really hurt, because the White Sox have to score a lot of runs to win games. 2005 IS OVER, MOVE ON. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) I disagree. I think the lineup will be more effective without him there. If they put Dye in the 3 hole, the lineup changes drastically, and we already hit LHP better. White Sox offense with Jim Thome=Greatest offense in baseball and probably in team history even with a lead-off man who absolutely sucks. You're saying it will be better without Thome. That makes zero sense.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Do I get points for laughing at the Pods and Mack combo in the OF before they both have defensive misques in the game? A couple of weeks ago Ozzie started Pods, Mack and Gload in the OF. They predicably all misplayed at least 1 ball each.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) Well hopefully we actually call people up that can help the big club make the playoffs instead of worrying if our AAA team will go deep in theirs. I was thinking more of roster expansion. I think Stewart needs to be here personally. If I was GM, Sandy would be at home learning to use his walker, and Stewart would be the back-up, but since that makes too much sense for the Sox, when the roster can go to 40, they have to call him up.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) His bat speed is non-existent. He may be tired as well. He's on a pace to play his highest total of games in his career. Unfortunately the Sox are abysmally short in the back-up C department. The AAA season can't end soon enough.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) And his ERA is still north of 5 He'd fit right in with the greatest rotation ever assembled.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Sweet...I might have to have my bachelor party there. There's no truth to the rumor though that I've invited Pods or Ozzie to my wedding. Hookers are legal in Windsor. They just have to come to you, at least thats what someone told me.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) Oh I'm sure Lance could find one of Ozzie's relatives to get hitched to. I really wonder what the relationship is between Ozzie and Freddy. Freddy has been under the impression he was almost traded last winter, and KW has done nothing but deny it, and told Freddy to his face it isn't true. You would think Ozzie knows exactly what KW is up to. Either Ozzie is feeding Freddy some BS, maybe to try to kick start his fat ass, or KW is lying.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) She was a Canadian...does that mean you get more "bang" for your buck? I think it does.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) Come on guys, are you IN or OUT? I think if I would have accepted the offer from the woman who propositioned me last night, I really wouldn't know.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) .81, .96, 2.44, 1.54 What are these numbers? What you blew the last 4 times you were stopped for DUI?
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) Flash has got to be happy with Broadway's showing tonight. If Ozzie is the White Sox manager for the forseeable future, when does Broadway crack the Sox rotation assuming he keeps putting up good numbers? 2010?
  14. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) What about that Brendan McCartney guy? I haven't heard about him in forever. At least there was a sighting of him last night. I was checking my milk cartons when I eat my cereal in the morning.
  15. QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) In all fairness, Brian was screwed from the second Oz called him to pinch hit. Should have left Pods in and try to bunt with two strikes. I would have made him bunt with 2 strikes. Then I would have used Anderson as a defensive sub.
  16. QUOTE(tony72 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Briallant move Ozzie ! At least the defense is now improved. Pods would have K'd too.
  17. I don't like BA's chances with 1 strike.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) I don't care what happens in this AB, but how can one player just be so fundamentally bad? The bigger question is how many times management has to see it to do something about it?
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) Here comes Pods in a bunt situation. He has to avoid bunting into a DP. First attempt was awful. Mackowiak better be careful at 2nd base. Its a good thing is Mackowiak on 2nd. He the best baserunner on the team. Make him bunt with 2 strikes. He'll still probably take strike 3 looking.
  20. Uribe walked, the apocolypse is near.
  21. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) not even close check yankees staff aside from moose and wang, they got pavano, wright, and big unit and thats a whole lot of expensive crap right there The funny thing is the Sox almost signed Wright, explored a trade for the Big Unit, and had some interest in Pavano until his price skyrocketed.
  22. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) This may be the silver lining. Lot of folks drinkin' the Thome kool-aid. I like Thome....just not in the 3 spot. Thome's obp is approx. 30 points higher than Jermaine's. Many of JD's RBI have been Thome. Be careful what you wish for.
  23. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) You look a little winded there, Freddy. Why don't you go shower, freshen up, do a bong or two. Just relax......you schmuck. You know Freddy has a frisbee with weed and seeds and stems all divided up in his hotel room.
  24. Yet another game when the starter can't make it thru 6, and still was given too long of a leash.
  25. Freddy doesn't like the call. Look for an implosion.
