Memo to KW: Get someone who can bat 3rd this offseason, it would make scoring runs a lot easier. Where would he play?

How about something good out of the 3 hole here?

Why is it with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 out, the count is always 0-2 no matter who on the Sox is batting?

DJ should just shut up when he talks about how s***ty Robertson has been lately. The Sox offense can get shut down by almost every MLB pitcher.

You can't expect these teams to lose. They are playing mediocre teams, and expect to win. The White Sox are in the same boat, unfortunately they gave one away last night, and better show up with some intensity and purpose tonight, or it will happen again.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) 3-1 Red Sox in the 6th. Ortiz has 142 RBI, and Manny has 136. Pods has 24.

Notes: Everett may be headed to the bench...
It has to be asked: Where would he play?

Notes: Everett may be headed to the bench...
How the hell he hasn't been benched yet is beyond belief. This guy is horrible right now.

White Sox @ Tigers 9/26 Game Thread
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Politte gave up one HR before the All Star Break. He has given up 6 homeruns since then. I think someone figured something out, or he has lost some of his edge. I think he's injured. He's lost several MPH off his fastball. He's pitching with cunning and guile right now.

Losing games like this really hurt. Hopefully, its not a prelude to another tailspin.

KW better get himself a #3 hitter this offseason.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:41 AM) Out of curiosity, how much of that do the Sox keep? I'm not sure, but I think its significant. I was reading something about Arizona, how they needed to make the playoffs to offset huge losses. IIRC the article said they made between $12-15 million during the 2001 playoffs. Of course, they played just about the maximum amount of games.

The Everett Funk
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Who said he should be batting third? Mr. Everett thinks he should be batting third.

A lot of the additional revenue is going to be tied up giving the players we have their raises. Garland and AJ are going to get big increases. Hop that the Sox go deep in the playoffs, because playoff games are huge moneymakers. I think a 10 person suite is $10,000 for a World Series game, $7,000 for an ALCS game and $4000 for a ALDS game.

The Everett Funk
Bat him ninth. He's not helping at all right now. The Sox should be ready to play the World Series in an NL park, they've been playing without a DH for a month now. I really don't think its fair to any of the other guys to throw them in the line-up now after not doing anything for so long and expect them to be able to execute. Everett needs to look in the mirror, quit his b****ing and hit the baseball.

WGN News at 9 Top Story
This is nothing. At chicagotribune.com one of the 5 stories that made the front page of the website had a Sox bashing headline. I clicked on it and it turned out it was a letter to the paper talking about how the game that was blacked out this week was blacked out by JR to get people to go to the park. The Tribune and WGN, everything under that umbrella, is ridiculous.

Sox vs. Twinkies Game Thread 9-25-05
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) Yep. Remember what San Francisco gave up for A.J Pierzynski? Joe Nathan, Francisco Lirano, and Boof Bonser (11-9, 3.68 ERA in AAA, 168/57 K/BB ratio). OUCH. :banghead Its even more absurd when you think AJ was basically released after 1 season.

Konerko talks about Contract Situation
I think for 2 years you wouldn't mind having him at $10+ million a year. I think the 3rd and 4th or beyond year of his contract is when you are going to wish he'd get really hot for a couple weeks and Steinnbrenner gets pissed enough at his team to trade for him. Can you imagine how slow this guy is going to be 4 years from now? There may not be much in free agency, but with his contract off the books, they Sox may be in position to pick up a significant contract via trade.

Everett Not Happy
Everett really pounded the ball last night. Sit his ass on the bench, or pull a Marte and just send him home. He isn't helping win games.

Question
QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) True, but by that logic then Cub fans can let Sox fans laugh at a collapse by a team that got to Game 7 of the NLCS in 2003. To me, it looks like more of a collapse than it is. If the Indians hadn't gotten white-hot, then the Sox playing sub-.500 ball wouldn't be as glaring as it is now. BUT.... the last 2 weeks have been a throat-grab of the worst kind. No, we laugh because that choke cost them a trip to the World Series, they already were in the NLCS. The Sox collapse if they still won the Wild Card only cost home field. I work with Cub fans, and one of them told me if the Sox won the wild card and won the World Series he still thinks its a bigger choke than the 1969 Cubs. He thinks nobody will mention 1969 again, and he was quite giddy about it. He's a good guy, but he is a total fool when it comes to this. BTW, all that BS that Cub fans don't care about the Sox is just that. They are burning phone lines and emails praying for a total collapse.
