how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) No, most teams aren't going to put up many runs with their 1-3 hitters on the bench. As far as your first argument goes it's different. They've slumped big time the last 2 weeks and your using a complete package to show that, the weren't playing amazing ball since the beginning of july but they sure as hell weren't playing bad till this recent stretch. As I said, they have been average for 2 months.

QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) This is from WSI so take it for what its worth: Supposedly on the baseball show on XM radio said the White Sox were close to aquiring walker. However, this source had also said we basically had Ibanez and Pedro Feliz so dont get your hopes up. Dont shoot the messenger. The XM radio source might as well be the mlb message boards.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) That's what happens when you lose 7 in a row. Then you could use the argument that their record was inflated the first 3 months because they won 8 in a row. 2 or 3 times. They are sputtering, can't you see that? Look at the line-up today. Could you really expect a reasonable chance of winning a game against with that line-up?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) We've trended downward for 2 weeks, that is all. Since 6/30 the White Sox are .500. Thats being average for a while.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) I will ask again, and no one really seems to answer. What did the Yanks do to bolster there team? Boston? Oakland? Angles? Minny? Clevland? What did they do to make there rosters so much better at the deadline and wavier wire? What have they done? Don't we have a better record then all of them? Shouldnt they be more concered with getting a piece then we are?? The Yankees got Chacon, and considering how the Sox hit him, he's destined for Cooperstown. Boston got Graffinino, KW came in second. Oakland got Jay Payton, and Joe Kennedy. The Angels didn't do much, but if money wasn't an issue would you trade their roster for the White Sox? Minnesota is out of it, they tried with Boone. Cleveland didn't do much because they were about 15 out at the non-waiver deadline, although if KW doesn't get Walker, they are rumored to be favorites to get him if he is moved.

I don't think the Griffey thing had anything to do with money. I don't think the Reds really wanted to trade him, and I don't think he really wanted to be a White Sox. I don't think you can say he failed until the exam is over. If the White Sox don't make the playoffs, I'd agree with you and say he failed because he bought into chemistry too much and aimed too high at near impossible targets. There have been several players moved this season that could help the White Sox. Who knows, there's still a few more hours to go, maybe KW will have a banner night tonight.

sox, cubs talking today?
I think Hendry may have KW by the balls here. If Walker is now the only option, and if Cleveland has offered a good deal for him, if KW passes and Hendry trades Walker to Cleveland and the Sox ultimately stand pat, KW is going to take a lot of heat, especially if Walker helps them overtake the Sox.

Podsednik most overrated player?????
QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) Wow, what a difference a half a season makes........................ the beginning of the year the Sox are killing, all you see on this board is posts by members kissing the players asses. Then the second half comes along, the Sox start to skid, and now players are "overrated" , they "suck", and "they are going to blow it". Its no wonder the Sox are losing we have all these fair weather fans posting garbage about the team and sending nothing but bad karma their way. You hit the nail right on the head. Why didn't I think of it? The reason the Sox are losing is because of what's posted on a message board. That's pure genius.

Once and for all
If the Sox did fall apart, I wonder how Hawk would blame it on Manuel.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) More Ozzie than KW if you ask me. However, I'm sure neither of them would be fired. Neither of them would, I agree.

Once and for all
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) We all knew August was going to be tough. It's over. September looks kind of cake to me. Hopefully that instills some confidence back into the pitching and offense for the postseason. Between July and August, they were .500, as average as you can be. They don't have many off days now, and have really played poorly at home. If Ozzie continues to give away games by trotting out lineups like the one he threw out there today, you will be witnessing one of the biggest collapses in MLB history.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) A move better be made. This team has died over the last month in a half. Our manager keeps trotting these disfunctional lineups. If we blow this lead KW should be fired. And so should Ozzie.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Our "regulars" havent done much in this game, but "this lineup" which I assumes means the subs, have manufactured a run, and looked more sound in the field. How is that sadness? Jinx

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Everett has been absolutely horrible this year in the 5 hole. 92 ABs, .239 AVG, .725 OPS, 6 HR. Why put guys in places where they tend not to succeed? Just because you think that's where they should hit? The reason AJP has such stellar numbers in the 5 hole is because he only hit there after he caught fire. When he was on his hot streak he was moved to the 5 hole. When he's slumping he's moved down.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) It seems like there is 10 people at this game. Lots of empty GREEN seats I thought people liked to sit in green seats, it was the blue they were opposed to.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) Just a generic comment that this is when you go back home and hope to see a new teamate to help you out, and then he said he wasnt talking about sept callups. Didn't Farmio also say Jake Peavy was available a month ago?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) This is a brutal lineup. Why Willie why? The last thing our offense needs is someone who's even less productive than anyone else we've been putting on the field. The sad thing is I complimented Ozzie on the lineup he used for the 2nd game last night. Then, he goes out and puts up basically the equivalent of a 2nd game of the DH lineup. How come no other team sits out 3 starters on such a weekly basis? Maybe they should let El Duque hit, and DH for Harris.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Uh oh: Timo lf ozuna 3b Aj c Konerko dh Rowand cf dye rf blum 1b Uribe ss harris 2b Not too impressive of a line-up. Maybe they'll pull a shocker and score a few runs. Definitely looks more like a playing-out-the-string line-up, than one of a team involved in a pennant race.

Hurt not ruling out October
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Time won't prove your point. I have already agreed that it isn't very probable. All I'm trying to say is that Frank said there is chance, yet you act like you have the definitive answer. If you know more than Frank does about this, I yeild. If not ........ I think you're the guy that was criticizing my spelling a couple of months ago. You may want to look at how you spelled yield.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:34 AM) Ok .. I'll call you on it. What do you know beyond what the rest of us know? I know that he won't be able to play for the rest of 2005, and its no sure thing he will be able to play in 2006.

Hurt not ruling out October
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) I read the article. I know the odds are long. But, the point is ... you are acting like you are an expect on Frank's medical condition. When it comes down to it, you don't know s*** about it. And remember ... you are the one that SCREAMED it. Just so there wouldn't be a 50 page thread on Frank coming back in October. Since you wouldn't know me if I was standing in front of you, you really shouldn't make assumptions of what I wouldn't know s*** about.

Hurt not ruling out October
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) Frank himself said there is a chance. I'm sure he has more info on the topic than you do. You are just spouting off and do not know anything more than the rest of us. I'll grant you, it's not probable. But you acting like you really have the definitive answer is ridiculous. Read the article, Frank said there was a chance, but he had no idea what kind of chance. His idea of a chance may be 1 in a million. You can say I'm spouting off, but the White Sox, the team with probably the most optimistic idea of injuries in sports, declared him out for the season and the playoffs.
