  1. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) This is fathom talking? Sweet Jesus, what has this board come to. Who else besides me found a silver lining to this loss? **peeks over wall** Garcia pitched in the house of horrors and matched a reigning Cy Young winner pitch for f***ing pitch. If not for web-gemlike plays from Stewart and Jones, the Sox may have had a run or two. And the Sox played *gasp* DEFENSE! In the dome no less! Obviously, this loss hurts like s***. But this was a playoff type game, and with healthy personnel back in a week or so, I still like the Sox odds. Now, fire away. I really have never found how something good could be taken out of a game you should have won but didn't. Or how you can take something positive out of not being able to score a run to pick up your teammate who only allowed 1 hit. Kind of like I never believe Buerhle beaning that guy in Baltimore was going to bring the team together even more, like a lot of people were posting that day.
  2. The problem is even if the Sox make the playoffs, you have to face other playoff team's top pitchers. The White Sox offense has very little chance against good pitching. They have stopped running. They have stopped advancing runners. They don't situational hit, and if you don't have a couple .300 hitters, you aren't going to score much with that approach. It was fairly obvious in the second inning tonight that Garcia would have to pitch a shutout to win. I posted it then, and I'm no genius.
  3. Obviously the 4 homer 6 run explosion against Johnson was a fluke. It was the only inning this team has scored in the last 34. If the offense isn't addressed soon, this will be the most dissappointing season in White Sox history. Tough luck for Garcia as he becomes the first White Sox pitcher ever to lose a one hitter.
  4. Hawk said if you can't take something from this game and build on it then shame on you. Hopefully, KW will take the fact that he needs more offense. This offense is pathetic.
  5. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) A CG One-Hitter AND you lose! First time in White Sox history.
  6. Rowand would fan at the slow pitch pitching machines right now.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) 7/12 games trimmed in three weeks. This may be about the time to begin worrying about a collapse. The collapse has already begun. These guys are scared at the plate.
  8. QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) KW... I'm glad this guy went out and got a couple hitters before the deadline, or else we'd be in trouble. Also this just in: best game hawk has seen in years. Don't want to mess with the chemistry
  9. And this game is over on the Twins first hit of the game. Get some offense KW or this season will be lost.
  10. Blum...................we're all doomed
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) Good inning Garcia. Is it too much to ask for M. Ryan to lose a ball in the dome ceiling? Ford and Jones both had problems seeing the ball earlier.
  12. I think the only chance is if Freddy shuts them down until Minnesota goes to the bullpen. They look like they should be in the little league against Santana.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) Keep in mind this is Johan Santana, folks. That is all. I think we could expect someone other than Pablo Ozuna to get a hit. Its not asking too much.
  14. QUOTE(TLAK @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) I'm losing track, how many hits has Feddy given up? Don't jinx it.
  15. He appears to be OK. Griffey will have to stay with the Reds.
  16. If Dye is hurt, even Hawk would have to admit there would finally be a place for Griffey to play.
  17. Dye made a great catch, but he's hurt.
  18. What is Ozuna's range factor at 3b? It seems they hit every infield groundball to him everytime he's over there.
  19. I hate bringing the infield in. Play them halfway, they can still throw him out at the plate.
  20. Remember when the Sox used to get the job done?
  21. They always seem to find Pablo at third.
  22. When and if the Sox get another baserunner, I would just like to see someone advance him one base. That would be progress.
  23. Maybe the players should vote to forfeit the games they have to face Santana. They look like they have no chance.
