QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) lol hmmm, thank you Captain Obvious, Mr. Darren Jackson. Tim McCarver is pissed. DJ is stealing his style.

Did DJ just say that if Uribe hit a ball right at the Pesky pole he might of hit it?

Back to back homers, and then Dye looks like crap.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) He would've caught that ball in left field. Yes he would have. I like Joe. He'll probably never make it, but I hope he does even if it isn't with the Sox.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) He has good numbers, that's why he should be on the team. Borchard's numbers have been pretty impressive since May 1. Do you think he should be on the team?

Adkins pitches over a mistake. Something our other pitchers have had problems with lately.

QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Baj blows and will never make it. But he has posted on this board, so he should be on the team.

QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) neither do I, our minors suck. It certainly has sucked the last few years. Its amazing how their hottest prospects fizzle out, almost religously.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) This Thomas video illustrates how awful DJ is at annoucing. Can someone start a Blackjack campaign for 2006? How long would it take before Hawk and Black Jack got into it?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) This Thomas video has been the highlight of my night. They showed his 50th homer and flashed to my best friend in the stands. I just called him but he's not home.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) I remember when people here were saying Cleveland's offense was overrated, that all their guys had career years in 2004. I felt like a lone wolf, nothing new. Those guys can hit and in general, they have good eyes at the plate. Something the Sox should scout and draft. Which I think they are finally starting to do. The kid 2B from Michigan they drafted ... Getz ... first taste of pro ball and way more walks than K's. Encouraging. They should have done that 5 years ago. I was shocked a couple weeks ago when the Sox were on Fox and Torborg was tossing their collective salad talking about what patient hitters they were.

Bring back Magglio.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Not with that 8 million dollar option he has if he reaches 500 ABs this season. I'm not signing the checks.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) The fact is, we should not be talking about Brian Anderson, unless it's an emergency. If there's an emergency in the next two weeks, it will be Borchard like it or not. They need a dangerous bat, not a 23 yr. old with 100+ K's in AAA. Not to discredit Anderson but they need somebody just a little more dangerous. You're right. Brian Anderson is not the answer in 2005. I would take Dmitri Young at this point.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) He - would - be - sitting - on - the - bench - fathom. Six years from now you'd be worried about Anderson leaving, and complaining that his FA year came up too early because he got called up with a 12.5 game lead. Brian Anderson is no savior. He'll be up in 2.5 weeks anyways. We can only hope we'd be b****ing about Brian Anderson leaving in 6 years.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Right, what would our life be without yet another conspiracy theory? The White Sox have probably the most aggressive GM in the league. KW is definitely aggressive. The other thing is other organizations may not have a very high opinion of our minor leaguers.

White Sox vs Red Sox - 8/13/05
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) You know, I always wondered why whenever a GM doesn't make a trade, they always say it's because other teams were asking for the world. I'm not saying it's not true, but it's a very convenient excuse a lot of the time. I bet everyone thought the asking price for Matt Lawton was supposed to be a lot more than Jody Gerut. The fact that there wasn't much activity at the deadline makes me believe the asking prices were unreasonable. I thought Lawton was a nice pick up by the Cubs and thought he would look good in a White Sox uniform if you couldn't acquire anyone else. He'd look good in LF tonight.

QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Thats it we won't get him. He loves griffey said he was the best player in the nineties. To me this means KW and Ozzie privately said we won't get him so start talking up the team we have. If he thinks Everett or Dye is better than Griffey than he is an idiot. I agree, in fact I think I posted that thought exactly when it occurred.

White Sox vs Red Sox - 8/13/05
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Not sure, was that before or after Pierzynski, Iguchi, etc.? It was after AJ, before Iguchi. KW tried to get some guys at the deadline. He found out nobody is inclined to help the team with the best record unless they want to pay a ridiculous price.

White Sox vs Red Sox - 8/13/05
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) And if they got him he'd sing a different tune. He is, after all, an employee of the White Sox. It really isn't so surprising that he'd defend what they do, or don't do. I know. Believe me, no one appreciates the Hawk more than I do. I actually get a kick out of him. I did find that line almost insulting, however. I think, considering the odds of Griffey coming to the Sox remote at best, he would just say nothing.
