  1. I'm sure they have all the scenerios given to them by doctors about Frank's ankle. He has already stated he won't be 100% at anytime this season. I think you have to proceed like he won't be back this season. As far as next year, I think that all depends on who the Sox acquire before the deadline and whether they sign them or not. Frank gets a $3.5 million buyout. He has been paid approximately $80 million by the White Sox during his career. He's had a great career but the last few he's been very injury-prone. He can only DH. Call it disrespectful, call it cold, we've all heard JR would never let Frank play anywhere else, but it probably is the wise thing to do at this point in time. Letting him go with a $3.5 million going away gift is far more classy than what Ron Schueler did to Carlton Fisk.
  2. Did you here the latest rumor? There's a chance if Phil Nevin accepts the trade to Baltimore that the Orioles release Corky.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) Harold Reynolds has some massive connections in baseball. His brother is a big time agent, and I think Reynolds would have a pretty good feel for what's going on. If he has all these connections its puzzling why so many stupid things come out of his mouth week after week year after year. Maybe he sits too close to Gammons.

Harold Reynolds just hopped on the Detroit bandwagon. They're toast.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Nothing official or anything. Simply said he has heard that Vizquel may end up in Chicago. Thats big to me because for the most part its been indicated that Omar isn't on the trade block. All I'm saying is that I'm excited as hell that I hear his name come up as potentially available cause he makes so much sense. I can't speak enough about how big of a pickup this would be. People can talk about his contract being a little long, but he's still producing now and whose to say he won't for the remainder. Regardless, there are plenty of worse contracts out there, and well frankl, I don't care about him being over the hill the last year of his deal, cause he's the type of guy that makes the Sox a more likely WS candidate and thats what its all about. Gio/Valido for Omar and I'll do it. I'd be more thrilled if it took less, but I'll give up some of the best prospects in the org for him. While this would be good news, it is Harold Reynolds and its mostly crap that comes out of his mouth.
  6. Another guy who is available for next to nothing is Soriano of Texas. Of course you wouldn't want him playing secondbase much. But depending on Thomas' status he would make a pretty interesting DH with a lot of power and speed and strikeouts. Plus you could non tender him during the off season. I believe he is arb eligible. Its just a thought, I would prefer a LH bat.
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) One thing that burned me up was the WGN camera crew kept showing this one f***ing Boston fan tool with a rally cap on. I saw that. It is WGN. Great job by the Count today.
  8. Hawk's wife is up in the booth a lot. She sits in between Hawk and DJ. Maybe he goes and gets serviced.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) f***ing A, Politte. Now will Hermanson pitch the 9th? No matter who's out there, they're gonna have to see at least Ortiz. I would think Marte would come in for Damon and Ortiz, unless he is already going to Florida. If the Sox do trade for Burnett in the next couple of days, his first start could ironically be against Baltimore.
  10. Politte deserved to be on the All Star team
  11. I'm glad Pods listened to my advice yesterday and started hitting more extra base hits. Iguchi is a pretty good hitter when he doesn't have to give himself up or take a couple of pitches.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Haha. Konerko is so predictable and bad, that it's funny. He took a cookie for the first pitch. He popped out looking for a homer, on a bad pitch. This guy sucks. The pitch he popped out was a hanger that should go 425 ft.
  13. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) ManRam's stellar defensive play helps Sox, 6-3 He's really struggled offensively and defensively today. I bet he got zero sleep last night.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Look guys NY Yankees absolutely have zippo bullpen, Boston pretty much sucks ass, and the Angels have Esteban Yan who might as well be 10x worse than Vizcaino. Can you name anybody other than duschbag on Oakland in there pen? Rivera and Gordon have been lights out for the Yankees most of the year. Sturtze has been pretty good lately as well.
  15. Great job by the Count. If his manager had a clue today he wouldn't have been out there this inning.
  16. This is just stupid by Ozzie, absolutely stupid.
  17. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) Reason JC is back out for last inning is because bottom of order is up is my guess. He's at 104 pitches. This is a mistake leaving him in IMO
  18. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) I'd let him go till he get's either in trouble or Ortiz comes up again w/ runners on. I think he's over 100 pitches. I would take him out. With all the problems he's had against Boston in his career, he should gain some confidence.
  19. That has to be it for the Count. He came up big today.
  20. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Maybe FLA will want JC in deal for Burnett. As far as I'm concerned JC is just as good, if not better than Burnett.
  21. The Count is getting up there in the pitch count, and when he loses it, he really loses it. I hope Ozzie has the bullpen on point next inning.
