  1. Uribe has 3 errors this season. 2 as a secondbaseman in a win against KC, and 1, the only 1 he has made as a shortstop in the debacle against the Yankees where the Yankees did not score 1 unearned run all night. Check the facts. He also saved a game when Koch was walking the world, on a tough hop last out against Baltimore.
  2. So you're saying Valentin's errors haven't cost any runs? I was sitting in Yankee Stadium when he threw 2 into the stands. Runs scored then.
  3. The guy missed what, 15- 17 games, and only has 1 less error than the other 1b,2b,ss, and 3rd basemen combined. If he continues his current pace and plays the remainder of the season, he will set a record for errors. Uribe is a stud defensively, and thus far has been stellar at the plate. If the are going to continue with Harris in CF, SS is the more important defensive position, so Uribe should be at short, and let Valentin play 2b.
  4. I don't agree with the theory that Valentin's errors don't hurt the team. Even if it doesn't appear to initially, his miscues put stress on the pitchers, and force them to face extra hitters, and make more pitches. This comes back to haunt the Sox more often than not later in the game. Last year he did have a pretty good year defensively, but this year he has been horrible.

I believe he is a career .246 hitter, and a butcher in the field. He's only hit .260 once in his career. He's NOT the $5 million a year player KW thinks he is, especially for a team with big time budget concerns.

KW mentioned grinders at the end of last season, and sat on his hands except for Uribe, who is far superior to Valentin, offensively and defensively, at least so far this season. Its the same crap that has been going on for the past 3+ seasons now. If its not a pitcher the team has faced several times, they seem unprepared. This guy tonight had an ERA almost 7.00 coming in, and pop out after pop out is what we get. Its time Ozzie starts managing like he claimed he would, and start playing his best players. Uribe sitting 2 games in a row, with no hit , no field Valentin in there? Ridiculous. This team cannot manufacture runs. If the ball isn't going over the fence, they really have a tough time scoring. Ozzie has no choice but be patient. Who else is he going to insert in the line-up? JM was not the greatest manager, and deserved to be fired long before he did, but "Ozzieball" is a farce. Ozzieball=Corpseball. You really can't change it unless you change the roster more than a little bit.
  7. I think they said there are 24,000 tickets sold for tonight's game. I live downtown and its very pretty outside right now, but it is cold. 9000 walk ups is probably a little too optimistic. Fireworks might be good for 4000-5000, hopefully.
  8. The Bucket Boys were there. They all had their Bulls shirts on. How about giving them some White Sox clothing? I just go to watch the game, I don't care about the other stuff, but the Bucket Boys were alright. They didn't bother me like that Steffen character, with his dugout dancers a few years back.
  9. Britt "third degree" Burns. I think his nicknames are corny, but I must admit, I find a few of them very clever.
  10. If anyone was willing to take Koch off KW's hands, he would be gone already.
  11. I'm sure he could. Hopefully, he got some medical attention documented. My advice to you Cheat is to go to a doctor if you haven't already. He or she can document your injuries. I would think security should have had the perps arrested or at least detained and have their names. I'd press charges against them, sue them and sue the White Sox, and sue the security firm. If you have a concussion, Cheat, you are going to have a pretty good case.
  12. AM 1000 is saying its going to be Grilli
  13. He takes a long time to unload the ball, so all his walks, and his HBP, which I know he has at least 2, are equivalent to doubles. You can score a few runs with not too many hits that way.
  14. What's it been, 3 games? The first 2 he raked, today he didn't do much. His average is .241, he will be on the DL at some point this season. The days of him hitting 45 homers and winning gold gloves are long gone. There are better players who are much cheaper than him. If he really was such a bargain, Cincinatti wouldn't want to get rid of him. Paying people millions to sit on a couch eating Doritos, is not good business. Unfortunately, that has happened every year he has been in Cincinatti, and early indications this season see that trend continuing.
  15. If there were teams with legitimate interest in Lee or Konerko, where the White Sox wouldn't have had to take similar money back, one of them would have been moved this past off season. Remember, the team is over budget right now. You think Griffey is so great, he just got dropped down to 5th in the order. His numbers are earily similar to Konerko's this season, and you know he will get hurt again and again and again...... He is not the same player he was 5 years ago, not even close. In fact,Bill James, who takes his numbers seriously gives him 0% chance of hitting 600 career homeruns, which is only 113 short of what he has now. JR was on the Score a few weeks ago, and he said there was no chance Griffey would play for the White Sox. The Sox would be much better off giving Reed a chance, and using those precious dollars for pitching.
  16. As horrible as the Sox played in Toronto, they are still in first place. Coming home, playing in some warmth, the bats will start getting hot, and they will build a little lead in the AL Central.
  17. Most of it is deferred, however what you still have to pay him is way more than the other 3 guys I mentioned. Plus its for a lot of years. JR would have to hire a nurse to wheel him up to the batters box in his wheelchair the last couple years of that contract. Who is going to take Konerko, making $8.5 million with a $500,000 kicker per season if he gets traded? Who will take Lee at the money KW gave him, without taking back similar or more money? The answer is nobody. KW has done some good things, but when he messes up, its usually huge.
  18. If its Griffey, I give up.
  19. The White Sox couldn't afford Tom Gordon or Tony Graffinino or Carl Everett, what makes you think they can afford this stiff?
  20. Griffey is currently hitting .241, and has missed time twice this already this season with injuries. The injuries are not going to go away. Considering he has about 5-7 years on his contract, and how tight the White Sox budget is, KW would have to be institutionalized if he traded for him.. He's still decent, just not much of an upgrade over Rowand, and may not be as good as Reed. If the Sox don't resign Magglio, there has to be better options for spending that money. There were rumors in one of the NY papers that the Sox are a definite wild card for Beltran even though his agent is Boras. They said that KC is going to definitely trade him by the deadline, unless they get into the race, and with Brian Anderson as their ace, that doesn't appear likely.
  21. These last 3 games, the team has been as listless as it was during JM's reign.
  22. It seems the Sox have replaced the grounded into a DP with caught stealings and pickoffs this year.
  23. Hawk said before the pitch not to throw him anything offspeed. He is swinging a very slow bat right now. Not only a change up, but a high change up. Hawk was really pissed off. He yelled damnit after he gave the totals on the inning, believing his mike was cut off.
  24. He's Jeff Weaver's brother.
  25. DJ just pops off about his lack of power this season and you can put in on the board
