Blake Snell and Yu Darvish traded to San Diego
Dick Allen replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's what is so sad about this. The Sox will still be a lot of fun to watch, but management is more interested in profit than blowing teams out of the water. -

The Sox are going to need a lot of starters next year. Not many guys pitched 35 innings in 2020. -
They can play zones these days. They usually cover the arc fairly well except with screens. Defense in the paint and transition with the Bulls has been horrible. When Stacey King is calling them out, you know it's bad.

It’s just so sad this guy runs his teams like the Marlins. Even the Bulls, he won’t pay the luxury tax. https://www.forbes.com/profile/jerry-reinsdorf/?sh=24c916e76d28

I will believe they will sign the better players when they actually sign players. We knew they were out on Springer when they signed Eaton. Just business as usual, always trying to get by on the cheap. I wonder if they will tell us like with Machado, their offer was much better, but they can’t afford what he ultimately signed for.

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
Dick Allen replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Bauer, Q, McCann and LaStella were the others on the list. -
That was like NBA All Star game quality defense. Even Stacy called them out for a lack of effort a couple of times. I don't get why guys in the NBA in their early 20s who haven't played a game that counted in over 9 months, can't bust their asses for 30 minutes.

The Sox are going to need all of these guys, and more. Face it, they only had 3 guys pitch 35 innings, and 4 guys pitch 30 innings and one of them, they traded away. To expect them all to ramp up to normal in 2021 would be shortsided. They need several more pitchers.

So my sister has the Covid. I think she got it from my brother in law whose only symptom was he couldn't taste anything. My sister's symptoms are similar to a mild cold, but she says her teeth hurt, and everything smells like bacon.

Just like with everything else, it will help the fancier restaurants most. Not many business lunches and dinners that need to be written off happen at the local diner.
-
Exactly. They could afford to give billionaires tax cuts on money they will never spend, they can afford to do enough for the people who need it.

I think the direct payments should definitely be higher. I don't know if they have to be $2000 but $600 doesn't get you very far. I think the Unemployment supplement should be at least $450. You max out in IL at under $500 a week. Lots of people out of work with families, mortgages, car payments and other bills. Kind of hard to make it work at under $800 a week. And there should be more for small businesses. Restaurants have been screwed. I don't understand why the tax break for business lunches was added. Pretty stupid. Maybe that is a bone to some restaurants, but not the majority.

If you don't need it, you could donate it to someone or an organization who does.

How many Vandy GMs are there? The other problem is being a GM isn't a big career goal for a major leaguer that has banked a lot of cash. It pays a lot less than playing, and you get a lot more blame if things don't work out. The fact is Dombrowski is going to get all of the credit or all of the blame depending how the Phillies perform. Young may get some credit, I don't know how Daniels role will evolved, but they didn't give Dombrowski $20 million to lay the blame or give the credit to someone else.
-
I never said it was. I said it was pretty close to that status as an academic institution.
-
You can say that, but 2 hires don't make a trend, and they are going to run out of Ivy League major leaguers who want a career in a front office pretty quickly. Dombrowski is Fuld's boss and he is pretty much the opposite.
-
No, but Young is an Ivy Leaguer, and Stanford is pretty close to that status. It's not like they are hiring some guy who was drafted out of HS or a JUCO but seems to have some baseball acumen. They aren't hiring baseball lifers that "paid their dues" and learned their way up.
-
Chris Young went to Princeton, and Fuld went to Stanford, so these are pretty bright guys.

If the owners are as broke as they claim, someone should be able to pick up Darvish for peanuts if they take his contract.

PA man arrested for voter fraud. He registered as his dead mother and voted for Trump. He also registered his dead mother in law.

They won’t. Whenever Greg comes back just read his stuff. He doesn’t care about the truth. He likes these people so whatever they say goes.

Tony LaRussa to plead guilty to lesser charge

Its his son. He worked for the Dodgers and Mets. Got fired both places but not for being an entitled brat 99.9% of the time would be the case.Graduated from the same school as Trump. Then became a Marine. Interesting guy, definitely has a grudge . Would be wild if this started a feud with Terry, but holding a parent accountable for their offsprings tweets wouldn't be sincere especially since Mr.Legit has 2 daughters from his first marriage he refuses to admit exist. -
The exact same thing happened on 3 of Fox News' shows.

So Joni Ernst who claimed doctors were faking Covid deaths to make money, got her vaccination today.
