That costs money. Might as well get the production for minimum or close for a few years.

The world champion Nationals in 2019 had Brian Dozier at 2B. He put up a1.6 WAR.

Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
I would let them have their choice between Adolfo and Rutherford, and some other fodder.

Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
You could make the case it was OK if he helps them win at least one playoff series as that could help them moving forward. If not, it was taking a shot and failing.

I wonder what the look on JR’s grandchildren’s faces is when they open up what they think is an IPad and it’s some knockoff.

Kind of hard to build up WAR when you play in 29 games.

The projections have him between 1.8 and 2.4. The Last team LaRussa managed won a WS with a 0.3 WAR SS and a 0.2 WAR 2B.

- Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
They did. Now he probably cant outperform Colome’s 2020 except for maybe advanced wise but that doesn’t give you extra wins. But they did set themselves up nicely for games they lead late.and he is very likely to outperform Colome going forward.- The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
And about as likely as winning the Mega Millions.- Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
Would you suggest the Sox trade Robert this season if he gets off to a tough start?- Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
I doubt Keuchel gives you a sub 2.00 ERA again. There is a decent chance Lynn regresses a little. The projections even seem to think Giolito might fall back some. But usually the projections are pretty conservative. Cease has great stuff. If he gets some command, he will be fine. Kopech looked great in spring training, but who knows how much rust he has, and how many innings the Sox want to send him out there. I still have some hope for Lopez but he is probably almost out of rope. The Sox are short with starters. I think JR looks at Cleveland and thinks no way they will hold up now. Probably looks at Minnesota and thinks they have a lot of work to do to get back to what they were and not much time to do it, and decides the Sox are good enough where they are at or some Wainwright level addition. Hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite him in the ass in October.- Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
They weren’t trying very hard. I am sure a team would take him off the Sox hands.- Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
Cheap Christmas trees usually don’t light up. That’s why they are cheap.- Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
One encouraging thing about him is he has decided to change his delivery. I guess 2 Tommy John’s get you to start thinking there might be a better way.- Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
We are talking minor leagues so Pods started out his minor league career 48 for 68. About the same. It amazes me how some players get so much rope but some like Madrigal who was drafted only 2 1/2 years ago gets none, and he is supposed to be a finished product. But he sucks so much other teams won’t notice and will give you something good for him. And then Tommy LaStella can come in because a decent faction of Soxtalk has a ex Cub fetish and he will be way better. And it will only cost $7 million more and that is nothing to Sox ownership.- Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
You can’t say he is a one tool player but then say you can get a lot for him. It isn’t right. You aren’t stacking a team on a video game. If you think the guy is an easily replaceable player, nothing special, you have to think, if you give yourself any credit, the guys that get paid millions to really assess that, think so too.- 2020 NBA Regular Season Thread
He also is being coached by someone with a clue. Boylen was the Terry Bevington of the NBA.- The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
Wainwright was also implicated using some material for grip and spin provided by the Angels clubhouse guy.- Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
The other thing is they had 2 guys they trusted to start a game they must win. Now they probably have 3 but to get to 3 they had to get rid of the next most trustworthy starter. To put it on Katz n his first season as a ML pitching coach to turn around Cease and Lopez, and to be really confident Kopech won’t show any rust when he is called up is pretty insane. The Sox need another Staring pitcher they can reasonably expect to be around league average , and provide innings. Either you get really lucky or those guys cost 8 figures.- Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
That’s fine and dandy but if they think all of their guys are going to make it through the season unscathed, and pitching full season workloads after last year, they are in for a huge surprise.- The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
I wasn’t buying LaRussa is the GM talk. But if this happens, he definitely is.- Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
You can’t have it both ways. You can’t bash him but then think he has a lot of value.- Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
Scotty Pods was 59 for 82 for the 2005 White Sox and he is legendary.- Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
Judging Madrigal right now as he is what he is is being very shortsighted. And if you did that to all players just starting out, the Sox would probably need a new LF, new 3B, new SS, a few new pitchers, and maybe even a new CF as well. What exactly is to be expected from a rookie who gets into about 30 games after spending a month not playing real games but in some sort of camp in Schaumburg? If the Sox trade him, they better get something really good. But, if a lot of Soxtalk is to be believed, how could they get anything worthwhile for such a hopeless player? - Garrett Richards to Boston, 1 year $10 million.
