QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) They said they would sue him. So far nothing. Once Trump won the election he stopped being referred to as a rapist. If you guys really believe he is a rapist I am curious why you just let it go so quickly? Rape is no joke to me. Not "insult of the month" type territory. It's in its own special category. Also, my friend was talking to a girl and thought she liked him and he tried to kiss her. He read the situation wrong. She shut him down because she was still kind of with her boyfriend so she didn't want to be kissed by another. Is my friend a rapist now... So Trump was lying when he said he grabs women by the p****, because when you are a star they let you do it? And a lot of stuff about Harvey was from over 20 years ago. It doesn't make it any less disgusting. They use their position to exploit women. And no your friend isn't. Talk about something not being the same thing. If he wouldn't let it go and grabbed her by the p****, or whipped it out and beat off into a potted plant, or drugged her and had his way with her, or used his professional position and told her he could make her career either a lot better or a lot worse for her, then yes, he would be doing wrong.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) I do remember a man who has been in the public light, for what? 40 years? getting a barrage of accusations against him in the weeks/months leading up to the election. Has Trump made women uncomfortable with his advances? I am sure. Has he drugged any of them? Has he traded sexual favors for influence? Has he been charged with anything? Has he been charged criminally? Have the efforts of celebrity lawyers led to anything? Was the timing of the accusers in any way curious? I am not going to sit here and continue to defend Trump but sometimes I want to pull you guys back into reality. What Trump was accused of is not the same as what Ailes/Cosby/Weinstein did. It's that simple. He said he grab women by the p**** because he is a star. No it's not drugging them, but it using his power to take advantage of women. He said it. It isn't an accusation.

These days, you win games with home runs and pitching. They have a really nice looking line up, but they don't hit enough HRs. Their staff looks decent, but with Price getting hurt, that really hurt them. Having to go with Fister in a playoff elimination game shows they were a bit short.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) I am not really sure of what happened with O'Reilly but comparing the victims of the men listed with Trump's p**** comment is really messed up. People suffered because of Ailes, Cosby, Weinstein and perhaps O'Reilly as well. Trump's words, while crude, didn't create any victims. There are 14 accusers I believe. Maybe they are full of s***, but when a guy is taped saying he grabs them by the p**** because he is a star and can, it's pretty decent evidence against him. Trump did say he would sue all of his accusers. So far nothing.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 01:57 PM) What exactly did Trump do that politicized this? Calling a scumbag a scumbag isn't political but in all seriousness, I haven't seen Trump's comments so I am curious what you're alluding to. You seem to be making it political in any case - mentioning Ailes, Oreilly. An initial response to this thread was posting a list of GOP politicians as enablers. The relevance? No clue. Weinstein being a mega donor of the DNC, a frequent guest of the WH during Obama/Clinton administrations and a "good friend and wonderful human being" to Michelle Obama is what politicized this. The fact that Weinstein was famous, influential, and politically involved is what makes this political. I can't believe a serial sexual abuser gets exposed the response is still all about Trump. The late night hosts first ignored this and then when they were called out all of their Weinstein jokes were made with comparison to Trump. I am trying to remember if Jimmy Kimmel or Colbert made the jokes based around Obama when Cosby and the Penn St. thing happened. Or when Rob Ford got caught smoking crack did they make a bunch of jokes of Obama's coke use in college? Probably not. Everything is about Trump all the time. He probably loves it but it's getting very old. This isn't about Trump. This is about a political person even if it is just a side point. Regardless, I don't see anyone saying only "democrats sexual abuse" nor do I see a reason for you or anyone to defend your "team" based off of one deviant's behavior. Harvey Weinstein supposedly represents all democrats. Besides, Weinstein worked for a private company. Trump is the President of the United States. It's a bit different. And show me where I defended my "team"? And Trump is mentioned because Trump commented on it. And Obama using coke was used, as was his smoking habit. I will agree everthing about Trump is getting old. It's time your "team" did something about it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) Rose McGowan is being heroic in all this on Twitter. Ben Affleck tweeted some expression of horror at Weinstein and McGowan lashed out at Affleck saying he knew what Harvey was doing. This story is very sad and horrible; just like the Cosby story. People in power abuse people in all different ways. Sexually is probably worse, but I would imagine almost everyone has had some sort of "boss" at some point in their life who treated them like crap because they could. Affleck is more than likely a phony with his outrage. Weinstein is far from the only one in Hollywood. They are all over the place, and it has nothing to do with political party affiliation. The fact that Trump who grabs them by the p**** because he is a "star", and his buddies Ailes and O'Reilly , very fine people, wants to make this poitical is pretty hysterical. Democrats do it. Republicans do it. Independents do it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) We been trending down in hours worked for a while now as a country. We are down about 200 hours per year since 1950 and about 50 hours per year since 2k More vacation time or PTO as it is called these days.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) Let's just say he has a low bar to clear. Yeah. If the pass hits him in the hands and he actually catches it, he will be one of the better Bears receivers.

Lake County Republicans having a gun raffle for donors: The "2nd Amendment Dinner and Gun Raffle" in northwest suburban Kildeer features an AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle for those who pay $2,000 to sponsor the event, raffles for a 12-gauge shotgun and a 9 mm handgun, and other gun-related packages.

QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 02:58 PM) I don't think Trubisky is the guy, but that is beside the point. The point is that I think that Football is a mortally wounded sport. Because of that we don't have time to wait to see if Trubisky is or isn't the guy. We should just enjoy the sport as long as it exists, if we like it. That is all. Yes, I do think that by 2035 football will be cancelled. Right now he's not the guy. He isn't going to lead this particular team to the playoffs, but he obviously has a lot of potential. Give him some experience and some decent receivers, and he might be a star. Except for maybe Cutler, I don't think the Bears have ever had a more talented guy at QB. Hopefully he develops. The guy only started 13 games in college. To think he will get anything but better is crazy IMO.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) What if it's a monetary penalty though? I doubt that would hold up in court. What if half the team did it? Would he forfeit? 75 year old billionaires like the idea of a sharply reduced tax rate, no inheritance tax. Once that clears, you'll see guys like Jerry changing their tunes a bit on social issues.
-
Does anyone really think Jerry Jones would bench a star player if he took a knee? I'd love for someone to call his bluff.
-
I think taking an IQ test and challenge between Trump and Tillerson would set PPV records.
-
QUOTE (Quin @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) Yeah, Tillerson is getting canned. A POTUS actually said that. Corker is correct, the WH is adult daycare, and he is a republican with no need to kiss Trump's ass, so it's not just liberals who see a gigantic problem with this idiot. I hope more republicans wake up and notice, supporting him really isn't helping them. He needs to go.

Trump now b****ing about NFL tax breaks. You have to be a great American like him not to pay taxes.

You can put it on the board..If the Astros lose this series, AJ Hinch is going to get destroyed.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 12:41 PM) Fivethirtyeight has some interesting comparisons of approval ratings between Trump and past Presidents. No surprise, his numbers look disastrous compared to everyone else besides Gerald Ford. It is funny the guy who rips everyone else and if applicable, never forgets to mention their ratings, has the worst ratings.

He always had that look to me. A guy who if he made $50k a year, couldn't get any chicks. To me he always looked like a casting couch guy who did his fair share of blow.

I wonder how much was spent on the Pence publicity stunt yesterday. Obviously not millions, but pissing away money nonetheless.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) While I agree with what you’re saying, the vast majority of people will not get rid of theirs guns at home no matter what the data says. I'm pretty sure if you were able to guarantee all families would always be safe and no innocent person would ever be shot or harmed in any way, which obviously could never happen, all people would have to do is turn in every gun they owned, millions would refuse.

Hanson can run and that's about it. He can't hit, he isn't a good fielder. Keep him around as long as you don't need the space, but chances are, when the team is good, he won't be able to make it.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 08:43 AM) FINALLY received my moviepass card in the mail. One thing to keep in mind if you are going to go on back to back days, pick the earlier film first. There is a one a day, but also a 24 hour waiting period.
-
For every time a gun in or around the home was used in self-defense, or in a legally justified shooting, there were four unintentional shootings, seven criminal assaults or homicides, and 11 attempted or completed suicides. That's one self-defense shooting for 22 accidental, suicidal or criminal shootings -- hardly support for the notion that having a gun handy makes people safer.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 10:48 AM) Trump Administration Set to Roll Back Birth Control Mandate The requirement that health insurance plans cover birth control is going to be axed today. I was an a train a few months ago, and some people in front of me were talking. They worked at an adoption agency. One of the women was saying how adoptions had dropped significantly since Obamacare became law. They were speculating the number of unplanned pregnancies went down due to the available birth control. In the long run, this will costs those companies that refuse to pay for it more. It's stupid. What Trump is doing to Obamacare is trying to make it suck even worse. Then he will will say, see I told you. It's junk. And millions will agree. I feel really bad for those who have to use it. It's only going to get worse, and then will eventually be replaced by something even worse.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 10:04 AM) I don't think it really matters if a teammate had a problem with him, he was annoying to fans for good reason. Like him breaking his foot "jumping off a truck". When Kopech actually is, you know, at the show and he misses games for doing that, I'm sure people will be annoyed then too. I think this thread is dumb, but so is the "you can't hate sale unless you also hated everyone ever that also did things!" He's a great pitcher who had a bad game. Anything other than that is a pure meatball.
