QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) Yes, and it's clear their hope is that with his athleticism and youth, he'll improve. That will or won't happen. He'll either hit and defend enough to be worthwhile or he won't, but he has to be given some time to do that and obviously missing most of last year pushed that timeline back. I 100% agree with the bolded, and think anyone who does not is a dope.

Hey............Check out he guy with the sombrero. At least he scored once today. 5 PA, 0 balls in play for JA today.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) I'm happy they didn't pitch Duke in the 8th, as he's only a LOOGY now...but jeez, what a stupid contract I hated the signing, but Duke is no LOOGY. It's pretty close, but he has been slightly worse vs. LH hitters.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) Putnam's up too I believe they said. That's who is coming in. Robertson in the 9th. I never realized Robertson has reverse splits. RH hit a lot better than LH against him although, not very well. Makes sense. Rivera was the same way.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) Stone just said Carroll is in the pen. I really hope he got that wrong Robin is giving him the 8th and Danks the 9th to troll Soxtalk.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) Ask those teams about a redraft Sox would never get Rodon . He should of went 1 last year. He should have, but Houston was going to sign Aiken significantly under slot. They may have gotten Rodon under slot slightly but probably not as much. I think they were going with the spread it around mentality, and it did cost them. I don't know what the Marlins were thinking. I would think if everything broke correctly Kolek would be a right handed Rodon in a few years. Maybe Boras scared them as well. Whatever it was, it was a huge break for the White Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) Him, Sale and Robertson are probably the only 3 players on this team I'm not concerned about. I'd put Abreu in there as well. People have to remember Rodon is 22 years old, and still learning. He is nowhere near where he is going to be if he stays healthy.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) Very few to none. But some MLB hitters can. That's the difference. Plus, MLB hitters make him pay on mistakes, where that wasn't usually the case in college. Hence, the reason they are major league hitters.

David Price, a guy Rodon has been compared to more than once, had a 4.42 ERA his rookie year. He started cutting back on the walks, and became a star his second season. Rodon will figure a way to cut the walks. When he does, as long as he doesn't get hurt, he will be in the Cy Young conversation.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Just his 15th walk of the season. Kris Bryant or Rizzo puts up those numbers in 2-3 weeks. That's shockingly low compared to last year for Jose. Why would you say that? Bryant and Rizzo have each walked 37 times. Rizzo has played 71 games, Bryant 62. Not exactly 15 walks in 2 weeks paces.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) Whenever he's up with a man on first, you need to do a hit and run. If not, that's going to happen way too often. 3rd time this year. Actually 2nd. One of the DPs he grounded into was first and second. Considering how many times he strikes out, and contact isn't a strong suit, sending Flowers on a hit and run could be suicide as well.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Yeah, Appel's value is down. I just don't think half a year of the version of Samardzija that looks like a 3-4 starter is worth much at all. But, with Cueto now maybe looking injured and the Kazmir now maybe looking less available, who knows? I agree. I would trade Shark for Appel immediately before Houston changed their minds. If they want Shark to come back, the Sox will have the same shot as they do now.

Maddon was pissed a replay didn't get overturned last night. He thinks the replay guys should be non working umpires. I think he's right. Either that, or when a play goes to replay, don't let the replay guy know what the call on the field is. Make them decide simply by the replay.

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) I guess you and Dick missed the game where robin took him out with less pitches and he was on fire.... And they lost. That was 111, so if 113 is too much, yanking him with 111 after 125 his previous outing and a $14 million a year closer coming in makes a ton of sense.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) When does Ventura ever pull a starter when he is in trouble before the designated inning/pitch count point? Probably as much as any other manager.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) Was he effective? Pitch count isn't the only reason to pull a pitcher. The complaints for not pulling him were 100% pitch count.
-
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) If I'm Chris Sale I'm calling my agent after the game and calling a meeting with the Sox' FO. This is madness how he's being used. He threw 113 pitches. Reading this thread I would have thought it was 213.

Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) Yeah, I don't want to trade Chris Sale at all, but if it WAS going to happen, I'd certainly hope it wasn't Toronto, because all their elite prospects are pitchers. To be fair to Cameron, he said Toronto is the team that makes the most sense to go balls out for him, he didn't say that the Sox should prefer Toronto's eventual offer. There is no reason to be fair with him. He used the Dodgers as an extreme example, and then told you it wouldn't happen. The guy is full of s***. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) Sale getting very frustrated with the ump there...glad the record means more than trying to win the game all of a sudden. This seems to be the exact situation which would bring about an injury, going after Mauer and Hunter. Well someone did pose the question earlier, win or record, and the one person who answered chose record.

Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He says trade Sale for prospects and Toronto is the team to do it. The Toronto fan asks about it, and he says young pitching is fools good, be lucky if 2 of 4 turn out and 1 out of 4 would be normal. So trade Sale for 4 prospects and hope 2 work out., but only bet on 1. That is a great idea. I can't believe teams aren't lining up offering Cameron their GM job. -
Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So Cameron uses an example he now admits the Dodgers would never do as a reason the White Sox need to trade this guy, and then has the nerve to tell another guy "that's why organizations aren't run by fans." Last I checked, he isn't making baseball decisions for anyone either. -
Maybe someone on the Sox can get Pujols hot. He must be back on the juice. His last 25 games .360 avg. 15 HR 30 RBI, 11 BB only 4 K.
-
Is that 34 or 35 innings in a row with at least 1 k? That is pretty impressive.
