Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 09:19 AM) Ya I know lol but it's me being hopeful. I don't think it's laughable at all. I fully suspect even if they trade him, the White Sox try to bring Samardzija back. -
QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) Yeah, Phil needs to shut up with his prehistoric views on basketball. Is the earth still flat, Phil? Sure he won back to back titles 5 years ago, but we all know how fast basketball evolves. By 2020 the NBA will be full of cyborgs y'all. Phil is trolling everyone. I can't believe how many are falling for it.

Per Robert Feder: Sox/Bulls radio moving to WLS
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Now both the White Sox and Cumulus Media (owner of WLS Radio) are denying any deal. "There is no deal with WLS," Boyer told the Daily Herald. "Our rights are up after this season, but there is no imminent deal. There is certainly interest in our rights from all parties listed and we are doing our due diligence with all interested parties, but I'm not sure where today's blog post came from. "Understandable, plausible argument, guess. (Feder) never reached out to anyone here seeking comment." http://www.dailyherald.com/article/2015062...orts/150629594/ While that may still prove to be accurate, Cumulus Media CEO Lewis Dickey says not so fast. He confirms that Cumulus has been bidding for the Sox broadcasts, as have other stations, but he said he doesn't have a signed agreement yet. http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/201...s-am-890-report . It would be odd if Feder turns up wrong. -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) He has used up his track record in 2015. Time to show up or sit. The problem is Beckham is the back up. That is not anything more than a game to game solution.
-
The White Sox haven't scored 4 runs in a game since 6/13. 9 games and counting.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) Then he should be real pissed at Alexi! I think a vet with Alexei's track record gets a little more slack. The fact is Micah wasn't ready defensively and they sent him back down, nothing wrong with that.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) So suffering through Sanchez's complete lack of a bat is the preferred alternative to letting Micah's defense develop at the big league level? Yes. I posted in another thread the pitchers, especially Samardzpjiza were gettimg very frustrated with Micah's defense. And it isn't like he was raking offensively.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) You realize how much worse Sanchez has been overall than Michah right? I don't know how Micah is fielding now, but unless it is significantly better, there's no reason to call him up. Make sure the next time he is called up, it is to stay.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) That was classic. They have a raffle every year for a car painted with a White Sox theme. A couple of years ago it was a Smart Car. Stone read the promo and said the grand prize was the Smart Car. 2nd prize was 2 of them.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) Alexei doesn't even attempt to take it the other way. Hawk was right on. You back off the plate so he can't pitch you inside.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) It was decent but the BABIP was on the high side and I needed to see it sustained more after an awful 2013. And I say to trust AAA numbers more often than not, there's always gonna be exceptions that largely come from players incapable of making adjustments. And one big thing to look out for at AAA beyond the mere triple slash is strikeout levels, Tyler's was always huge and that usually leads to big problems in the majors. His BABIP has always been on the high end. I agree with you on the high strikeouts. That rate is only going to rise the vast majority of the time, when you start to face better pitching. I am not a big Sanchez guy, but he is better than he has shown.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) Why didn't Soto slide? If he slides there, he's safe...what the heck is going on with the baserunning? Did he really get deked that easily? Even Conor got a horrible jump there. He must have been deeked, but he was about 6 feet from 2nd when the 2nd baseman caught the ball, he pulled up so I don't know if he would have been safe, but much closer.
-
Soto is one of thise guys that looks like he could gain 30 lbs. in a week.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) You trust them when they're sustained and not short-term and inflated by a crazy BABIP. I trust that a AAA walk rate of 3% and strikeout rate of 20% combined with a lack of power is probably not going to transition well to the majors What about his 2014 in AAA? And why would you be anti Tyker Flowers? His AAA are oretty good.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) wRC+ for batters with over 110 PA: 200+: Bryce Harper 100-200: 254 guys 50-100: 126 guys 40-50: 9 guys 30-40: Jose Ramirez, Rene Rivera 20-30: Nobody 10-20: Nobody 0-10: Carlos Sanchez Didn't you say we have to trust the AAA numbers?
-
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) I tell ya, they are just snakebit. Everyone wins 60, everyone loses 60... Pffffft At least they are getting hits. That wasn't happening a week ago. Maybe next week the will start scoring runs.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) Not according to the Twins' own announcers... You always post what you claim to ne your opinions and when challenged say they are the opinions of announcers. Why don't you put that in your post right away? Alexei was playing up the middle for a DP. It was a slow roller in the hole. The other ome was a hit too.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Easy force at second No way, and it was hit in the hole he was playing up the middle for a DP. The Sox suck, but the complaimts are getting ridiculous.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) They can't let this keep going on for another 3 1/2 months, CAN THEY? Two base hits, two plays that legitimately could or should have been made behind Samardzija. That ball deflected off Alexei's leg somehow, lol. Then you have LaRoche who probably had a better play on the first single and doesn't quite have that comfort level yet knowing which balls Sanchez will get to...and which to go for himself. For the love of God, those were hits against any team in baseball.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) And another play Alexei fails to make. Good thing they didn't bench him. That would have been a hit anyway.
-
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) I think the whole idea of participation awards making kids ok with losing is BS to begin with. I'm almost 40 and we had those awards back when I played. It's not a "new" thing. The thing is, kids aren't stupid. They know what those trophies are. They know that they aren't nearly as good as the first place trophies the other kids are walking around with. Often times we would get ice cream or some other treat after the game even if we lost but it didn't make us want to win any less. Honestly, I think the bigger problem is the kids that are getting pushed by their parents who are trying to re-live their failed sports aspirations through their kids. I have 3 girls and only the youngest had/has any interest in playing any kind of sport. She's not the worst, but she's not the best either. If she wants to continue to try and get better I'll support her but I'm not going to push her thinking she'll be the next Cat Osterman or Jennie Finch. I agree. The problem isn't the kids. It's the parents. The kids deserve a trophy for putting up with them. Go to a youth league game and watch how many buffoons are coaching and watching as parents acting like their entire lives are dependent on the outcome of a game between 10 year olds.

Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) You're making less and less sense with each post. The one thing he does say that makes total sense is if the White Sox don't think they can win for 3 or 4 years, they should, if the packages were right, trade these guys. -
Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Chris Sale helping the Cubs to a WS would be a devastating blow to this White Sox fan. There is no way if I am Rick Hahn, I would trade Sale to the Cubs unless it was the overpay of all overpays. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) It's crazy how both the Santos and Reed trades worked out. The Sox sold at the perfect time on both of the guys, with both of them turning into bad pitchers. It's just too bad the scouting part of the return in the trade failed. Molina was simply a terrible idea by the organization, as not many people even viewed him as a starter when he was acquired. Not only that, but most teams didn't know Santos was available, and judging by other closers that were traded that offseason, it seems a higher return was very possible. As far as Davidson goes, I think it was a good risk, but unfortunately it appears something happened between 2013 and 2014 and Davidson hasn't been able to recover. I do think they should give him a shot after they sell away players next month, as it wouldn't hurt to see if something can click at the big league level. There's not a lot of use in having him repeat AAA for a 3rd season next year. Wasn't Paddy influential with the Santos trade? Molina had awesome numbers but he was ranked fairly down the Blue Jays prospect list. IIRC during the teleconference discussing the trade, KW was under the impression he was playing in the Winter League, which he was not, and he was using his numbers from a year earlier when he was. The trades turn out to be nothing for nothing but the point I was making was that doesn't mean no harm no foul. When you don't have a ton of assets, you need to get something when you are giving them up.
