  1. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 30, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) Astros baserunning like the White Sox. Their manager must be an idiot.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 30, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Coming into the season, I'm pretty sure he only rated above average in RF Either way, I don't think it is a very big deal. When the Sox brought back Beckham, I figured Bonifacio was more or less the 4th OF. But his bad spring training must have really shot him down the charts. He has been behind Beckham and Shuck simce opening day.
  3. I don't think the Sox see Bonifacio as an OF. Has he played there this season?
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) When you have 2 hitters in your whole lineup who are above average, losing 1 of them is a pretty big loss. And really, you totally cover yourself in dignity with the bolded. You can't make a valid point yourself about why its a good idea to play people until injuries get worse rather than giving them enough time off to manage them...so you devolve to making personal comments. As I stated before, I would listen to the medical staff. The people who are educated and trained for this kimd of thing. If you remember Robin's comment when Avi was initially tsken out and reentered the line up, he said it was a case where playing on it wouldn't make it worse. You can think he just made this up off the top of his head, and the training and medical staff were never consulted, and everyone is afraid of Robin in the White Sox organization so they will just do as he says, but it would be a case of you being incorrect again. He was cleared medically, he said he was good to go, he played. Even if he sat the one magical day, I am guessing with his current injury, it wouldn't have suddenly dissappeared. And the comment about Ozzie's education is pretty accurate.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2015 -> 10:26 AM) I'm sure you agree the White Sox don't need Abreu's bat for the next 2 weeks if this is a major problem right? We should listen to the guy with a 5th grade education. Dr. Ozzie. Sit for omeday, problem solved. Besides, you said Abreu is a tick above average. How would that be a big loss?
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 30, 2015 -> 01:18 AM) The new story is that Hoiberg interviewed with Orlando If the Mayor winds up anywhereupother than the Bulls I apaologize for being wrong, but I think any play at this point is to hide the fact that this move was pretty much agreed to months ago.
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 30, 2015 -> 02:10 AM) They should have given him a day off after he injured it...that magic cure-all day. Just another one of the million bonehead moves Herm Shneider's done to cripple this franchise the last few decades. It is just common sense. Don't listen to the medical people if they don't include the magic cure all day.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Well, if Abreu's out tomorrow, hopefully they can DH Avi Supposedly Avi is playing tomorrow regardless.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) Remember two years ago when I reported the FO wanted Webb as the next closer? Maybe it's finally happening!!!!! He is really good if he can throw strikes. Bur he gets like the big kid in little, league that throws gas but walks everybody and throws wild pitches.
  10. Melky can really throw. And usually he is pretty accurate. That wasn't even close.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) Robin Ventura: The buck stops with everyone but him. How dumb of me. I am sure Robin totally blew off the training staff and just figured he couldn't hurt it more by playing on it which is the lie he tried to sell us. Thank God you are aroumd to call him out.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Which is a particular shame because I'm at best a very slight hockey fan since he wouldn't let me watch hockey while growing up. You must have missed the memo that they didn't play all their games at home.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) that is why i left it the way i did. i never wanted somebody who i don't know dead. it would be great if he would step down and let the youngins take over. I actually witnessed one fan interaction with Bill Wirtz and had one myself. Bill was walking in front of the Board of Trade about 15 years ago when a guy just got in his face screaming at him as Bill continued to walk down Jackson. I was torn between thinking it was funny and thinking it was pathetic, but it is something I don't think I will ever forget. And omce I was in a United Center bar befor a game about the time plasma TVs were coming out. It wasn't high def yet but sure enough Bill shows up and starts talkimg to my buddy and me about how these TVs are goimg to make watching hockey on TV so much better. He was right on about that one.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:54 PM) Kept running him out there for a week after the initial injury, he barely hit for that week, had to be pulled from several games, aggravated the injury while playing more than once and now they've basically shut him down for the better part of a week because of how many different times he aggravated it. He will have 2 starts in the last 9 games after today. The alternative, taking him out to rest the day or two days after he got hurt might have prevented the aggravations, and if not, putting him on the DL or shutting him down for several games sooner would have gotten him back to normal quicker. He's been dealing with this longer than he would have had he been shut down initially or even been put on the DL initially and he was ineffective while he was trying to play through it. The correct move was to sit him at least for the day after he was first pulled from a game, maybe the 2 days afterwards. Instead we've made this a 2 week event already. Fire Herm Schneider?
  15. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) and they got better when Bill died I am not going to insult anyone's intelligence and say Rocky isn't better than his father, but they were about to get good . Whether it was at least 2 cups good we will never know. And JR is a far better steward than Dollar Bill. I hope you aren't suggesting you look forward to JR"s death.
  16. Who took Beck's spot? NM. Webb sticks. I thought they might go after Santos.
  17. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:04 PM) LOL! What a reach. Just a fact. The funny thing is the guy that actually put the team together was Tallon. Former Blackhawk long time Bill Wirtz guy.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 29, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) And how did that change? Bill died. Son decides to line the organization with people from consistent winning organizations and not littering it with former players. The first guy he hired was from the very picture of winning organizations the Cubs
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 29, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) Prince Shembo charged with animal cruelty. (He killed his girlfriend's dog). Will be interesting to see how the NFL responds to this. Between Atlanta's prvious animal cruelty experience and Shembo's past, will be interesting how they respond as well. Is there a dumber group of individuals than pro athletes?
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) 21-25 is such a s***ty start for the Sox. Even 25-21 wouldn't have been too bad. 25-21 would be an 88 win pace.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) They could fire the entire Bulls front office tomorrow, and it wouldn't bother me a bit. But at the end of the day, the GM is the Coaches/Managers boss. The VP of baseball/basketball operations is the GM's boss. Jerry is all of their boss. That is the chain of command. The other part is that just because your boss is an idiot, doesn't mean you just can't listen to him. Again, you'll be looking for work. I agree. I'm just saying but I doubt there isn't anyone who hasn't had a few WTF moments with their boss over the course of their work lives.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) This is why college coaches like Hoiberg who are beloved should "just say no" to the NBA unless all they care about (and this is possible) is making a few million more per annum. Smith wrote: "It’s why the shelf life of the NBA coach isn’t long; in his fifth season, Thibodeau ranked fourth senior NBA coach with his team. The other three all had won titles." Hoiberg won't last more than 2-3 years with Chicago unless the Bulls win it all which they probably won't. I agree. He apparently loves the NBA. So good for him. He could be the king not just the Mayor of Ames and have more money than he would ever need for the rest of his life if he stayed. Seems like a no brainer to me, but apparently he doesn't feel the same.
