Who won the trades?
I think Getz wins both. The only way the Santos trade is bad is if he turns dominant. I can't see it, plus arm troubles. Both Getz and Barfield would have to be wrong for the AZ trade not to work.

Sox trade Cristian Mena to Arizona for OF Dominic Fletcher
Considering what Barfield and Getz used to do, if this trade bothers you, They should have as much info on both players possible.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
People don't go to the bars around Wrigley all that much if there is no game. I read an article a couple of years ago about Goose Island who had an outpost there. They lost their lease. The landlord wanted to go month to month but they couldn't do it because if he pulled it right before the season started, they would lose a ton of money. A lot of turnover around there.

Gregory Santos Traded to Mariners for P Prelander Berroa, OF Zach DeLoach and 69th pick
And the draft pick is higher than any comp pick for giving a QO would be, so there’s that.

Sox trade Cristian Mena to Arizona for OF Dominic Fletcher
Considering Getz and Barfields previous positions. If there ever was a mid level prospect trade the Sox should win, it would bee this one. If this blows up, there probably is no hope. And with the Santos trade. The only way that really bites the White Sox is if Santos becomes a perennial dominant reliever, which I doubt.

Sox trade Cristian Mena to Arizona for OF Dominic Fletcher
There were warts with both, but generally agree, although rue the day may be a bit much.A lot of people here were praising the addition of Josh Barfield when Getz added him to the staff. You have to figure this trade was his baby, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. What I loved about both trades was that they both were old school trades where money had nothing to do with it.

Whitesox sign Kevin Pillar to Minor League Deal 3M if he makes the club
Makes me want to buy a ticket plan.

Whitesox sign Kevin Pillar to Minor League Deal 3M if he makes the club
If I was managing against the White Sox, I would walk Robert 4 times a game, or at least have the pitcher throw sliders 2 feet outside exclusively, and take my chances scoring 3 runs against the Sox pitching staff. I think if you take Robert out of the equation, scoring more than 2 runs is going to be a colossal challenge .

Nothing says can’t waste a year more than the guys Getz has picked up. Awesome.

Whitesox sign Kevin Pillar to Minor League Deal 3M if he makes the club
Who are the young guys they will be showing? Kind of hard to see if you are in Charlotte or Birmingham.

Whitesox sign Kevin Pillar to Minor League Deal 3M if he makes the club
I’m starting to think the White Sox are unaware of the tanking rules, and still think they have a shot at the first pick in 2025.

Sox Interested in Dom Smith
It’s a good thing the Sox didn’t sign Machado or Harper. If they did they might have been able to go after guys like Dom Smith now.

This should sell some tickets.

White Sox sign Juan Then (as in Ten) to a Minor League deal

Cease To Padres per Passan
I agree. They didn't have to go nuts, but at least try to put something on the field where if everything went right, they were decent. The 10th pick for 2024 had 78 wins in 2023, so their draft position will not be hurt unless things went right and they actually won some games. And isn't that the strategy with the Bulls?

Sox Interested in Dom Smith
No I see why Pedro can feel it.

Grifol, Sox out to prove doubters wrong in 2024 (Merkin Optimism Series)
I still don't understand the logic how Renteria deserved to get fired, but Grifol is fine. It's not like Pedro is breaking the bank for an MLB on field employee. According to Nightengale, there's a decent shot he doesn't make $1 million a year. That's almost player minimum.

Does anyone buy anything that ever comes out of Pedro's mouth?

As a spectator, there's definitely something nice about a half empty or more ballpark.

Grifol, Sox out to prove doubters wrong in 2024 (Merkin Optimism Series)
All these guys that were playing for their careers were playing for them last season until an team awful enough threw a few dollars at them to try again. But I do agree with wegner. Defense alone should get them a few more wins.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
It sounded like a great idea, but maybe the team sucking had something to do with it. I acutally used to work in the building the train station is attached to and took it to opening day once. It was great.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Maybe. They fixed up the 35th Metra station probably 12 or 13 years ago, and had a stop there. They also used to hold trains there for after the game, but that all stopped. It wasn't a big White Sox seller.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
I watched a roundtable discussion with the Reinsdorfs and the Wirtzs a few years ago when the UC turned 25. The UC has 6000 parking spots. The one thing they said is fewer people are driving to games than ever before. A ton take Ubers, which I believe would be a very popular choice for people working or taking a train downtown if the Sox moved to the 78.
