Sox looking at building in South Loop
It wasn't to this story specifically, but he mentioned it with the Bears.

Jason Benetti wins 2023 Illinois Sportscaster of the Year Award
Why, if they already have a gig, would anyone want to be the White Sox PBP person? They chased off Benetti. The team is awful. TV ratings suck. You will work with an analyst with a huge ego. What, unless you are a White Sox fanatic, is there for you? This will ultimately be a very disappointed hire.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
They were putting up tents for immigrants on a polluted lot. Why not a ballpark?

BTW Gov. Pritzker has already stated state funds for a stadium isn't going to happen.

Northside it 8 blocks a mile. I think some Southside is 10 per mile.

JR and the Mayor's joint statement “We met to discuss the historic partnership between the team and Chicago and the team’s ideas for remaining competitive in Chicago in perpetuity.” What's this remaining competitive crap?

Sox looking at building in South Loop
It isn't fantasy if JR or someone other that the state of IL builds it. But I do agree, right now this is work for another sweetheart lease and lots of concessions. There is an outside chance the Sox see this area as their Arlington Park. You won't get a better site in the city.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
It's a dump now. It's probably where they should have moved 30 years ago. Still Southside. A little over a mile from the loop. Red, Green and Orange line stops a couple of blocks away. Water taxis on gamedays. You should get a decent view of the skyline from the upper dack there. People must remember, ballparks must face NE or SE. It's OK for the LF or RF to have sun in their eyes, but batters could be killed.

Tim Anderson Free Agency Discussion
I was watching MLBN a couple of years ago and Kevin Millar was talking about free agency for non elite free agents. He said they start getting worried at Christmas if they don't have a deal, and the longer it drags out, their chances of getting anything near what they hoped are decreasing. I just can't see TA getting an 8 figure guarantee. Maybe he hits some incentives he gets there, but he's really cost himself some money. It's really a shame.

The OF Thread
I remember LaRussa putting him on. He didn't even wait until it was 1 and 2.

Official NBA 22-23
I will say I was not a fan of Jerry Krause. I think the thing that really bothered me was how he almost was giddy at the end of the dynasty. That said I would never boo him, or boo years after he died with his poor wife representing him. Maybe MJ or Phil or Scottie should have been better to him. I don’t know all of their personal dealings and what was said. But to pin blame on them for thousands of adults booing a dead man with his wife there, is ridiculous. Not being a decent human being is more than normal these days. Maybe someday it will matter again. It was supposed to be a night of celebration. i also get the Bulls should have known better people. But, it would be kind of hard to have the Ring of Honor and not include him, or include him and not make him part of the ceremony. Not everyone booed. To say we couldn’t include him because we cannot trust how the fans will respond might piss the people on the correct side of this off. And the not know his wife was there? Red Kerr was before him and his son was there. It was all over social media and airwaves that his wife was at the gala the night before. We need to quit making excuses for these idiots. The blame for the boos is on the assholes who booed.

Bulls fans showed last night they deserve a Reinsdorf ownership. My mind was blown. I bet there are thousands who were proud they made his widow cry.

How does a decent human being do that? His poor wife. My God. Ruined the whole ceremony. Can’t pin this one on JR. No class.

The 2024 Blizzard
I live on the Near North Side. 6 AM this morning, nothing on the ground. Then is started. By 6:15 everything was white. Cars were going so slow. Then lightening and thunder. Snowed hard for about an hour and a half, then slowed down. Turned to light rain. Raining now, maybe an inch or so left on the ground. But non flowing rivers on the sides of each street. It's going to be slippery when everything freezes. Strange day.

I do agree, if they trade the pick, they can't go lower than 4.

2023-24 NFL Season Thread
No doubt Fields ups the sack total, but what if the new OC worked on calling plays that fit his strengths, not trying to fit him in his system? It seemed Getsy , the first drive of the game, usually rolled him out, called some QB runs, etc, and they seemed the move the ball pretty well. I get you can't do it 100% of the time, but you do it more than Getsy wanted, maybe it slows the pass rush . I think Fields thinks his natural gifts will allow him to get out of sacks, and while it has, it hasn't been enough to offset the ones he shouldn't have taken. I think with DJ Moore and Harrison, the wait for someone to be open is also going to be a lot shorter. Trade the pick. It should be worth even more than last year. Draft Harrison, get an edge rusher at 9. Pick a QB if you want to after that. Get a OL in round 2. If it doesn't work out, you should have mulitple firsts in 2025. Trade up for a QB then.

Cease To Padres per Passan
The thing is with these Orioles prospects, at some point, either fans of the Orioles or fans of the White Sox, wherever they may play, are going to think they suck. Look at all the prospects the Sox got for their 3 guys, Moncada, Kopech, suck. Eloy sucks. Cease used to suck. Gio used to suck, then sucked again. Lopez sucked usually, Dunning got traded for a guy who eventually sucked.

Tim Anderson Free Agency Discussion
I would bet anything he's under $10 million now, and if he doesn't sign in the next couple of weeks, he'll be under $5 million.

Tim Anderson Free Agency Discussion
Weird this thread came back as I was just thinking last night how a lot of players have to be freaking out right now, including TA. If he doesn't get anything soon, he may be lucky to get Nicky Lopez money.

Sox Sign Rafael Ortega to a MiLB Deal.
I was thinking when is Getz going to sign or trade for a player that is better than his sorry ass was? They can improve 15-18 games and still be in the exact same draft position, with no long term commitments. Why not try to make it watchable?

A Texans beat writer said the Texans preferred Young over Stroud. So sometimes you just have to get lucky.

I'll argue the problems were A. they overvauled their payers and B. it is always about being good enough to potentially win the ALC instead of being the best they can be. Rick Hahn couldn't stop mentioning he won Exec of the Year. It wasn't even half a season. He acquired Grandal, Keuchel,, Mazara, Cishek and Encanarcion the previous offseason.

The Bears have more draft capital, and are the 3rd youngest team in football. Put Mercedes Lewis back in GB and they are probably the youngest.
