I don’t think so. What were they asking for at the deadline? If you’re so sure about it, you must have examples. I don’t understand why asking for too much is a bad thing. You can always negotiate down. And if it is not imperative he be traded, you wait. All it takes is one. As awful as you say he is he put up a 3.7 fWAR which was only .7 short of his 2022. These are all things you would point out if it was the other way around and the Sox were trying to trade for Cease. You would tell us he is going to cost an arm and a leg.
-
There is a new decision maker now. Do you know for sure the Sox were truly dangling Cease at the deadline, or were just saying sure, meet this ridiculous price and he’s yours? I think before Getz was hired, the White Sox front office didn’t think they had to rebuild. And if not being traded yet this offseason is a definite sign, there are a ton of players and teams in so,e deep s%*#.
-
Maybe he did. He was pretty good his last several starts.
-
I was watching MLBN the other day and they were discussing Cease. One of the guys was talking to someone with one of the teams interested. They told him that Cease had the same stuff, but they said they saw a flaw, he wasn’t finishing his pitches. That can mean a million things. They were confident he was easily fixable

White Sox sign Chuckie Robinson to minor league contract

Could you imagine if Debartolo wasn't rejected and JR bought the Cubs instead? He'd be out of Wrigley by now. -
Getz gets a Christmas bonus as he acquired JRs favorite- cash.

Why is it when PTAC wants to use historical stats, you say they are irrelevant, yet seem to think someone putting up a WAR juicing and before shoulder surgery is relevant? id take Eloy 10 out of 10. If he sucks he costs slightly more to say goodbye. If he’s good, he has 2 more years after 2024 with control. The odds of getting a difference maker for Montas isn’t very high. But it’s hypothetical, they should have the funds for both if they choose.
-
Free agent pitchers who don’t get at least #50-60 million have some warts they need to address. I certainly don’t see the point of signing Frankie Montas for $15 million hoping to flip him. If you want to buy prospects, use all your international money.
-
You would take a steroid user coming off of shoulder surgery over Eloy?
-
Which one is better than holding on to Eloy? And if the goal is saving money, the only one they actually save with in guaranteed money is Montas.
-
Eloy to me is a classic hold to the deadline guy. You can’t get much for him now. He figures how to get the ball airborne more often, he stays healthy, he has more team control than Cease. He keeps getting hurt and hitting grounders. He has a $3 million buyout.
-
The guy who never goes public, holds a press conference says he hired someone who didn’t earn or deserve the job because he didn’t want to waste a year, and he drops payroll over $60 million? That makes no sense. Dropping a bit yes, but not that much. I think the problem with totally tanking in 2024 is there is no reward except to JRs bank account in 2025. They can’t draft higher than 10th. The 11th and 12th picks in 2024 will be by teams with 78 wins. A pretty decent season in the Rick Hahn era.
-
And you really think it’s a possibility the White Sox signed Giolito if Eloy was off the books?
-
You can’t have it both ways. And if the White Sox are anywhere near their payroll ceiling, their owner is a stone cold liar. BTW, what $14 million a year pitcher is out there for the taking? Seems like you ghost me whenever I ask for examples
-
If Eloy is half as bad as you say he is, how would the White Sox get that much salary relief?
-
With their draft pick being 10 at best in 2025, they need to do more than a regular rebuilding team would do this offseason. It wouldn’t kill them to win 75 games.
-
It's hard to see any team giving up much for Eloy. Someday, he's going to figure out how to get the ball in the air more often, but thr Sox can't seem to help him. I don't think he's the problem child some make him out to be. His teammates love him. He did lose the weight the Sox wanted him to lose, and then his appendix burst. I guess what I'm getting at is I wouldn't trade him just to get rid of him.

Brooks is looking for his Pedro Grifol, They can suck at their job as long as they bow down.

I’m still trying to figure how a Hail Mary was better odds than a 55 yard FG attempt, -

Mark Sanchez says something every other play which make you think WTF? -
I wonder if the Sox are on plan B or C or D right now. Didn't someone write an announcement was expected a couple of weeks ago? Either they are getting rebuffed or want to make it look like they scorched all ends of the earth and realized the best replacement is the cheapest in Connor McKnight.

The lesson is if you are in such bad shape you need to rebuild, don't let the same people that got you in thar mess try to rebuild the team. At some point, they will make the same mistakes and have the same results that weren't good enough before.
