Sox looking at building in South Loop
That's probably correct. I think a ballpark in the South Loop would have been great. But it's billions, and unless its mostly done privately, it makes no sense in today's world. The state and city have no money, and they have a ballpark. And JR's motto has always been other people's money. He doesn't want to shell out for this. Maybe the developer wants it so bad they will do something. But it seems like the longest of long shots.

He has never been all in on anything during his 43+ year reign. Hard to believe that starts now. It certainly hasn't with the team.

obviously it's something to discuss, but when you think about it, this whole thing is laughable. The state will significantly help build a new park, while they have another a short distance away in perfectly fine condition? Or Jerry Reinsdolrf is going to spend a billion or two of his own money building the park? C'mon. man.

David Puddy can paint his face and throw out the ceremonial first pitch every night.

Would taking out loans to build this think help JR with his death tax issues?

Did he work for a Japanese bank? I watched an interview with JR and his son, and Rocky and his son talking about the UC a couple of years ago. All but 3 million of it, it cost $180 million to build, was financed by Japanese banks. US banks didn't want to touch it. The one thing I took out of the interview was that fewer people actually drive to games anymore. The UC has 6000 parking spots. Look for something that will house year round entertainment to be built there someday soon.

Supposedly this guy did get Geno and Wilson to get rid of the ball quicker.

She's like MJ. She sells out arenas. Her acting skills need some work. The State Farm commercial she was pretty bad, and that "blindside" hit she took leaving the court yesterday? Isn't flopping a technical these days?

Not all that excited, but hey, it's not Brian Ferentz.

Yeah, JR can’t make it work in a metro area with 9.5 million people, but would better off in a spot with 20% of that. That makes no sense it’s one thing if you NEED a new stadium, but he can’t play that card. He’s probably playing the ISFA for another sweetheart lease plus some upgrades, because he doesn’t want to spend his money building a ballpark.

I don’t think JR has many bullets. Moving the team will required league approval, and the White Wox still have a viable place to play. When was the last time a team was allowed to move just because they sucked so much? jR owes the fans and residents of this state a heck of a lot. He doesn’t get the stadium built and moves to Tampa, well you see how they draw, and JR would never have them winning as much as they do. He also would have probably had to sell the Bulls, and this was before the dynasty. At least that was the talk back then. He prints money with the Bulls, has a sweetheart lease, and refuses to ever stick his neck out with the White Sox.

They always site this when asking for public funds, but it almost always turns out bad for the public. The state owes more money now than It did when Soldier Field was renovated. Sure White Sox fans were OK with JR getting his stadium built, but what about those who don’t give 2 shits about baseball or the White Sox? I like an earlier post. This guy puts very little effort in trying to win. We were sold a bill of goods that a new stadium would give them the wherewithal to be a sustained success story. Even when given the ALC, it never happened. There’s no reason to think it would happen if you built him another or spent billions upgrading the current one. The state needs to spend its tax money more wisely.

Sox select John Schriffen to be TV PbP announcer
I said it before, I’ll say it again, Connor McKnight is a poor man’s Chip Caray. But whatever. You had to figure this worldwide search would lead to him once Monaco realized he had the same issues as Benetti, although he may eat his meatball sandwich a little more graciously. But Connor will kiss Brooks ring, and that’s the most important thing.

It wasn't to this story specifically, but he mentioned it with the Bears.

Jason Benetti wins 2023 Illinois Sportscaster of the Year Award
Why, if they already have a gig, would anyone want to be the White Sox PBP person? They chased off Benetti. The team is awful. TV ratings suck. You will work with an analyst with a huge ego. What, unless you are a White Sox fanatic, is there for you? This will ultimately be a very disappointed hire.

They were putting up tents for immigrants on a polluted lot. Why not a ballpark?

BTW Gov. Pritzker has already stated state funds for a stadium isn't going to happen.

Northside it 8 blocks a mile. I think some Southside is 10 per mile.

JR and the Mayor's joint statement “We met to discuss the historic partnership between the team and Chicago and the team’s ideas for remaining competitive in Chicago in perpetuity.” What's this remaining competitive crap?

Sox looking at building in South Loop
It isn't fantasy if JR or someone other that the state of IL builds it. But I do agree, right now this is work for another sweetheart lease and lots of concessions. There is an outside chance the Sox see this area as their Arlington Park. You won't get a better site in the city.

It's a dump now. It's probably where they should have moved 30 years ago. Still Southside. A little over a mile from the loop. Red, Green and Orange line stops a couple of blocks away. Water taxis on gamedays. You should get a decent view of the skyline from the upper dack there. People must remember, ballparks must face NE or SE. It's OK for the LF or RF to have sun in their eyes, but batters could be killed.

Tim Anderson Free Agency Discussion
I was watching MLBN a couple of years ago and Kevin Millar was talking about free agency for non elite free agents. He said they start getting worried at Christmas if they don't have a deal, and the longer it drags out, their chances of getting anything near what they hoped are decreasing. I just can't see TA getting an 8 figure guarantee. Maybe he hits some incentives he gets there, but he's really cost himself some money. It's really a shame.

Official NBA 22-23
I will say I was not a fan of Jerry Krause. I think the thing that really bothered me was how he almost was giddy at the end of the dynasty. That said I would never boo him, or boo years after he died with his poor wife representing him. Maybe MJ or Phil or Scottie should have been better to him. I don’t know all of their personal dealings and what was said. But to pin blame on them for thousands of adults booing a dead man with his wife there, is ridiculous. Not being a decent human being is more than normal these days. Maybe someday it will matter again. It was supposed to be a night of celebration. i also get the Bulls should have known better people. But, it would be kind of hard to have the Ring of Honor and not include him, or include him and not make him part of the ceremony. Not everyone booed. To say we couldn’t include him because we cannot trust how the fans will respond might piss the people on the correct side of this off. And the not know his wife was there? Red Kerr was before him and his son was there. It was all over social media and airwaves that his wife was at the gala the night before. We need to quit making excuses for these idiots. The blame for the boos is on the assholes who booed.
