  1. What it means is they don’t have to be the best they can be and shoot lower. It’s why when they win a division but we’re still short and needed a RF and 2B you get Josh Harrison and a guy whi can’t play RF in AJ Pollock. And when they realize that, Gavin Sheets.
  2. When he was doing his previous job with the White Sox very mediocrely , since the guys before him didn’t give him a job description, didn’t tell him his responsibilities or goals, and didn’t tell him how best to reach them, did he ask? The fortunately we are in the ALC line is what bothers me. It’s that mindset that has never led them to do all they can to dominate, which is what they should be doing.
  3. He made 1 start and pitched 5 innings from June 14th to the deadline. With his buyout, he was equivalent to a $30 million a year pitcher at that point. That was the reason they couldn’t trade him.
  4. Still needs to go.
  5. Does anyone else think that if the Sox start out 8-20 or something similarly horrible and they finally see what everyone else can see, that Pedro Grifol is not a major league manager, LaRussa somehow comes back into the dugout?
  6. As we are finding out, that was just an excuse because JR didn’t want to put the work into finding someone who would disagree with him, just opting for yes men willing to do things his way and kissing his ass every chance they get. All these guys do the exact same thing. Just look at their quotes over the years. Hahn, KW, LaRussa…. Praise him up and down talk about how all he wants to do is win, and mention how the losing is killing him. If it were killing him, he’d be long gone by now.
  7. The next time Andrew Benintendi plays RF in a major league game , will be the first.
  8. They won’t lose 101 with the better defense, but they will be boring, and suck, and lose over 90.
  9. If the Reds were out of any potential trade because they didn’t like the initial asking price, they would never make a trade. The good news is Getz apparently is asking for way too much. Better than the opposite.
  10. This is true, the problem is Getz was a David Eckstein wannabe, so that type of player he likes.
  11. This sucks but it all comes back to JR. He doesn’t want to pay for pitching. He’ll pay the going rate for a mediocre at best position player except if they play RF or 2B,,and LaRussa convinced him anyone can play RF. So they have to find cheap pitchers.
  12. Tyler Glasgow has never put up an fWAR as high as Cease did in 2023 and the contractual obligation isn’t close.
  13. I don’t think so. What were they asking for at the deadline? If you’re so sure about it, you must have examples. I don’t understand why asking for too much is a bad thing. You can always negotiate down. And if it is not imperative he be traded, you wait. All it takes is one. As awful as you say he is he put up a 3.7 fWAR which was only .7 short of his 2022. These are all things you would point out if it was the other way around and the Sox were trying to trade for Cease. You would tell us he is going to cost an arm and a leg.
  14. There is a new decision maker now. Do you know for sure the Sox were truly dangling Cease at the deadline, or were just saying sure, meet this ridiculous price and he’s yours? I think before Getz was hired, the White Sox front office didn’t think they had to rebuild. And if not being traded yet this offseason is a definite sign, there are a ton of players and teams in so,e deep s%*#.
  15. Maybe he did. He was pretty good his last several starts.
  16. I was watching MLBN the other day and they were discussing Cease. One of the guys was talking to someone with one of the teams interested. They told him that Cease had the same stuff, but they said they saw a flaw, he wasn’t finishing his pitches. That can mean a million things. They were confident he was easily fixable
  17. He’s a little guy for a pitcher and throws a split. Will probably be really good maybe even great for a couple of years, but he is going under the knife before this contract ends.
  18. Could you imagine if Debartolo wasn't rejected and JR bought the Cubs instead? He'd be out of Wrigley by now.
  19. Getz gets a Christmas bonus as he acquired JRs favorite- cash.
  20. Why is it when PTAC wants to use historical stats, you say they are irrelevant, yet seem to think someone putting up a WAR juicing and before shoulder surgery is relevant? id take Eloy 10 out of 10. If he sucks he costs slightly more to say goodbye. If he’s good, he has 2 more years after 2024 with control. The odds of getting a difference maker for Montas isn’t very high. But it’s hypothetical, they should have the funds for both if they choose.
  21. Free agent pitchers who don’t get at least #50-60 million have some warts they need to address. I certainly don’t see the point of signing Frankie Montas for $15 million hoping to flip him. If you want to buy prospects, use all your international money.
  22. You would take a steroid user coming off of shoulder surgery over Eloy?
  23. Which one is better than holding on to Eloy? And if the goal is saving money, the only one they actually save with in guaranteed money is Montas.
  24. Eloy to me is a classic hold to the deadline guy. You can’t get much for him now. He figures how to get the ball airborne more often, he stays healthy, he has more team control than Cease. He keeps getting hurt and hitting grounders. He has a $3 million buyout.
