  1. I was fine with him a lot longer than most everyone else, but it's beyond time. And if he's doing these stunts now.....just sell the team and count your money.
  2. Could you imagine if JR actually moved to Tampa back in the day? With how they draw even when they win,, and JR's refusal to gamble away any profit, and the division they play in, it may have been the worst ownership from a competitve angle of all time.
  3. i still don't believe the league would let him move.
  4. They were already talking tha DeJong/Lopez is the starting middle infield. Hopefully Montgomery can stick at SS. I was watching MLBN the other day and they were talking to some player, I forget who, and he threw out Montgomery, who apparently he trains with. Their trainer is also a hitting coach. He said Montgomery will be a star.
  5. I don't know Nashville politics but by the time JR needs someone to build him a stadium, the mayor of Nashville will probably be someone else.
  6. The funny thing is, I think the best part of his eating was it wasn't so elegant. It's like anyone else who eats something and has to talk. What drew Harry Caray, probably the most popular broadcaster in this city's history, wasn't that he was some elegant guy, but was at least the illusion he was more like the people watching and listening to him. People my age will remember Ray Rayner on WGN in the mornings. What made him so great was his art projects looked like mine would look. His trips to the zoo went like my trips interacting with the animals would go. I guess the White Sox want everyone ignore everything, and think they are just a step above everyone else. Maybe if they would have a reality check, they could solve some of their problems.
  7. His ERA will be closer to 6.00 than 4.00.
  8. I was just going to post the same thing.
  9. Just wait until next year.
  10. Does this inspire the team to try to bee a bit better in 2024 ?
  11. I hope things change, but 50 years is a few regimes. Hard to believe it will be fixed now.
  12. I'm not too keen on what the White Sox will draft after their first selection. They haven't drafted a guy in round 2 who put up a 2.0 career WAR for the White Sox in over 50 years.
  13. I get this draft sucks and picking high next year would be ideal, but there is no guarantee they don't lose 100 plus games, finish 4th worse and get screwed next season with the lottery. Whatever happens is probably the worst case scenerio for this franchise.
  14. If you are the White Sox and hired this guy, how do you not fire him today to stop him from embarrassing you any more? Read the article. He talks about learning things that are rather obvious, and should be more obvious for a guy with experience in a major league dugout.
  15. Jon Morosi is the Pedro Grifol of baseball insiders.
  16. Just remember when he "spoke" last offseason. It was all BS. This guy is a fraud, in way over his head, and everyone knows it except the White Sox. He's the real life equivalent of Milos on Seinfeld.
  17. I think if you went back and read the thread, most people thought the Sox made a mistake. The one problem is everyone know how bad the Sox are at developing. So a guy like Bassett or Semien, even if they turn out great, the out is they would never have been close to that player for the White Sox. The sad part is the guy who was in charge of that development now makes the deals. At least he's not Hahn, but ......
  18. I think he's worth more than you think. I also think he's worth less than you think if it were the other way around and the Sox were trying to get someone of his ilk. I'll take what Billy Beane got for 1 year of the the Shark. i'm not too stuck on top 100 or whatever. The real top 100 list when these guys actually get to the major leagues or fail, will look pretty different from what it looks like the day Cease gets traded. Getz just can't mess it up. It's pretty much his only bullet.
  19. Pretend the White Sox were trying to acquire Dylan Cease. Then you would have a totally different opinion of what he would cost. Take that price, and then take the lowball you think he's worth because he wears a White sox uniform, and split the difference. That's probably pretty close to what the White Sox will get.
  20. It’s cheaper that way. It would be a weird signing for a team that’s not delusional. Are they , like JR suggested, trying to win? If so, you need several pitchers. Is it a transitional year? Then you really don’t need this guy. As great as he once was with the glove and calling a game, even the Astros with all their bats were always contemplating replacing him. With the Sox, Pedro may bat him 5th.
  21. Never provided much offense, but that’s OK for a catcher. Defensive slid, now Sox are interested? Don’t you actually have to have pitchers he could supposedly help?
  22. If these are the types they are going for, their offense will make Iowa’s look competent. Could this mean the Salvy Perez stuff was BS?
  23. Mark Cuban is selling a majority interest in the Mavs to Sheldon Aldelsons widow for $2 billion. He still will retain control . Like JR.
  24. I just hope they emphasize quality over quantity.
