I think if you went back and read the thread, most people thought the Sox made a mistake. The one problem is everyone know how bad the Sox are at developing. So a guy like Bassett or Semien, even if they turn out great, the out is they would never have been close to that player for the White Sox. The sad part is the guy who was in charge of that development now makes the deals. At least he's not Hahn, but ......

I think he's worth more than you think. I also think he's worth less than you think if it were the other way around and the Sox were trying to get someone of his ilk. I'll take what Billy Beane got for 1 year of the the Shark. i'm not too stuck on top 100 or whatever. The real top 100 list when these guys actually get to the major leagues or fail, will look pretty different from what it looks like the day Cease gets traded. Getz just can't mess it up. It's pretty much his only bullet.

Pretend the White Sox were trying to acquire Dylan Cease. Then you would have a totally different opinion of what he would cost. Take that price, and then take the lowball you think he's worth because he wears a White sox uniform, and split the difference. That's probably pretty close to what the White Sox will get.

It’s cheaper that way. It would be a weird signing for a team that’s not delusional. Are they , like JR suggested, trying to win? If so, you need several pitchers. Is it a transitional year? Then you really don’t need this guy. As great as he once was with the glove and calling a game, even the Astros with all their bats were always contemplating replacing him. With the Sox, Pedro may bat him 5th.

Never provided much offense, but that’s OK for a catcher. Defensive slid, now Sox are interested? Don’t you actually have to have pitchers he could supposedly help?

If these are the types they are going for, their offense will make Iowa’s look competent. Could this mean the Salvy Perez stuff was BS?

Mark Cuban is selling a majority interest in the Mavs to Sheldon Aldelsons widow for $2 billion. He still will retain control . Like JR.

Since MJ left the Bulls, they are around 200 games below .500, and the Sox, even with a WS are around 50 below .500. Sell the teams JR, the industry has moved way past you. His entire legacy is built upon one player, a player he couldn't wait to leave so he could prove it was him. Something was proven, but not what JR wanted.

Brett Lawrie and Jimmy Rollins was a better combo. That didn’t work out so well. Hope they get something decent for Cease and Eloy or they are going to be horrendous until JR gets out.

He’s 7th in fWAR for starters in MLB the last 3 years. He won’t make 9 million next year. He will bring back a lot.

What kind of “haul” would you expect for a guy like Bummer? Middle releiver with a 6.79 ERA owed a minimum of $6:75 million usually don’t get you a slew of top prospects.

Where was it reported he got a big bump? Also, his contract lets him miss 35 games. He missed 35 White Sox games in 2023. What is the greater flexibility?

No they wouldn’t. The biggest flaw with the Sox rebuild is one everyone here noticed from the get go. The same dopes that got you to the point you needed a total rebuild after a decade , using their own words, mired in mediocrity, were the chosen ones to lead the team out of the abyss. The more trades they made, the worse they would have become. Perhaps the best player they did get in the rebuild now is Dane Dunning. I bet the Sox would take him back now.
