  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) That situation sucked but I'm not real sure how you figure the refs are to blame. Was that called penalty? I did not see the game but saw the highlight. That has always been something I never understood. That is an easy way to bail yourself out.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Oh...Im' not saying the show has jumped the shark at all. I think I said I'm enjoying this season more then last season and how it has been total must watch TV in my eyes. This season has been awesome...I'd say the best first 3 episodes of any season thus far. I did not mean anyone on this site it wa the internet folks that believe there is grander purpose to everything than simple kick ass entertainment which is what TWD has been this season.
  3. Just heard about he RA Dickey trade. Wow was that a steal for the Mets. Syndergaard and D'Arnaud The Blue Jay farm system doing some good stuff for certain.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) My grandfather was a Cubs fan. I watched his heartbreak in 2003. They never won for him, so I'll never root for them. But Jesus. The Cubs aren't the only ones who know heartbreak. People from Cleveland have it much worse across the board.
  5. Also I still can't get over how the Chicago media is not grasping the concept that baseball across the board is getting younger. The story yesterday was how young he cubs are..is Houston, Mets, Cardinals and even Pittsburgh still considered young?
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) 20 seems like a lot. I'd say 15 tops. He's not quite David Price. But yeah I bet he's going to blow out his arm, if he hasn't done so already He is going to be 30. Boras is his agent. There will most likely not be the free agency windfall here in three years. He will ask for $20M+ in arbitration and based on where starting pitching is headed he could get it. The Orioles changed his mechanics to try and save his arm, he is now back to the Kerry Wood car dealership delivery. This is a real situation for both the cubs and the Arrieta/Boras camp.
  7. Jake Arrietas season will when all is said and done hamper the rebuild. The cub will now have to pay him upward of $20M next season. He is in essence the first big signing of the off season for them. Not certain where their payroll is headed but Arrieta seems like an expensive gamble. His increased inning load screams arm issues next year.
  8. All of the quirky things maddon did in regular season seemed to be exposed in this series as well as the flaws of the team as a whole.
  9. West coast teams allow for a staggered start. Two teams in Eastern time zone and two in central make it tough.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) God I hate them. They also invited the actor from rookie of the year to be there tonight. Got to keep the image of being a sideshow franchise up. In '84 Dale Murphy went 8-11 in a late September series that the cubs were swept in and that caused them to lose home field advantage to the Padres. The Mets are playing this series in honor of BA BA Booey's recently departed dog Murphy. Terry Collins once dated Candice Bergen who played Murphy Brown.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) If you were Collins how would you pitch Matz tonight? No fastballs of course. I still think Colon makes a ton of sense against the cubs and is in the first sign of trouble.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) What do you do with Baez? Second base next year.
  13. Image if it were Ricky Renteria and he lead the White Sox to sustained years of success. He seemed to do well in getting the cub moving in the right direction.
  14. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:45 PM) The local media continues to be compromised by Cubbie blue and the indian head. To me, that's insane, because the Bears and the Bulls face crazy scrutiny in Chicago. The media does not understand hockey. They see banners and salary cap hits that's it. Problem with football is the six days you get to analyze it. The cub bandwagon media is what drives me nuts. I said it before and will say again. The Mets outlook is better than the cub if Wheeler comes back healthy. If I were the Mets I'd start colon tomorrow and bring Matz out of the pen.
  15. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Based on what, exactly? That I don't believe Chicagoans are going to murder Mets fans? You know what you meant and proved your cubby blue.
  16. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Who won the Art Ross trophy last year? That's right. You have no idea. I'm a lady Bing type of guy myself. If your from Bridgeport and like the Minnesota north stars....well ok.
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) I said that in the last series too. No doubt about it. That was obvious months ago. Not really a troll but a cub fan looking for a reaction.
  18. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) Tell me about all the murdered baseball fans in my old neighborhood. Go ahead, I'll wait. Also, for the record, I didn't watch a second of this game, because I really don't care. I was watching hockey, the sports Chicagoans pretend to care about when their baseball teams are irrelevant. The Stars look great. Season ticket holder for the hawks here....enlighten us on hockey fan boy.
  19. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:03 PM) You send your daughter through Armour Square at night and see how that goes. No Mets fans are getting murdered tonight. You are clueless about Chicago neighborhoods. Bridgeport is safer than Lakeview. Surrounding area not so much. There is plenty of crime up north.
  20. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) Wrong side of town. This isn't 35th and Shields we're talking about. Didn't need to edit your post we got your ill informed quip.
  21. I don't think he is healthy. The Jays are not that dumb although Gibbons kind of seems a bit clueless on how to handle a pitching staff. last nights 9th inning seems ot have hada carry over affect for the Royals today.....that and a really s***ty starting pitcher.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) Absolutely agree, you cant take anything for granted. I just dont think the Cubs pitching is the sole reason they are 0-2 right now, and you cant say that a pitcher like Hamels or Price( for a hefty return that would have probably included your current starting short stop) would have changed the fact that they are 0-2 right now Losing two on the road is not the issue. Relying on Hendricks and Hammel to win two games is the problem. Again it is hindsight because of the Arrieta magic in August in September as well as the bullpen performance in the playoffs.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) It happened in the final hour of Mully and Hanley, and Mully basically had to hang up on the guy because he was just so ridiculous about it. The cubs almost won 100 games after winning, what, 73 last year? And now Theo isnt doing enough? STFU If the cubs do not make it out of this series it is a valid conversation. At the time it was 100% the right decision. In hindsight and that is all this is, another arm better than Haren would have helped. Arrieta going on a historic run could not have been foreseen. If JS goes on that run for the White Sox they could be playing now and everyone would be b****ing they did not get a bat. The cubs issues for next year are getting the right pitchers at the right price. They are out there, the issue will be who is paying what. The price tag on Arrieta may hurt the off season maneuvering for a free agent pitcher as he is going to break the bank.
  24. QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 05:01 AM) I don't remember ever seeing MB ejected. I'm sure he has at sometime in his career but I think he might of wanted to be ejected. He was ejected in Baltimore when had that quality start streak ended. Complete BS ejection.
