QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) Couldn't agree more, the Pirates showed alot of class. I think Coghlan taking Kang out at the knee is the worst part of that play. There's no reason to go that high to take out a player. They did but at the same time it ends any playoff opportunities. Real classless way of handling by the cub. He broke the guys leg. I think the rule is you slide right over the base no reason at all to even let those slides happen.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) Great post! Amazing how much Olt getting at bats seems to upset people. The pitchers reaction was awesome. -

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) What a s*** throw lol This looks like another poor White Sox scouting job. -
That slide was really late. There is a difference between a hard slide and a late slide. I would think Bryant or Rizzo would pay for it but its the cubs.

This is a perfect day for baseball. -
Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal

Is the Shark tank still going on for games? Also the talk of no QO is almost as dumb as the Bears not retaining Cutler for this season. -
Pirates won the game by scoring a run without getting a hit in the 8th inning. Cubs struck out 11 times and walked once.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 12:17 AM) Lexi with the putrid at bat. Man, he couldn't lay off that crap pitch on 3-2? I see Johnny baby pitched well tonight again. Sweet. He swung at a ball over his head earlier in the game. For the life of me I do not understand why he is playing in these games.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) He didn't block the first strikeout either that went for a drop 3rd strike. Pb wp and ci one inning need an Elias ruling on if that has ever happened. Hope that's the end of Tyler.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Tough...but I'm going with Greg. When his campaign funds dry out, I'll swoop in and have him as my VP. We'll run on a combo platform of "gaging all sabs". PS: I love Greg...a man unfraid to speak his mind, which is exactly what this site is for...also, he created the term sabs, a term I love so much that I actually regularly use it in my weekly convo's with my sports buddies. Note: The "gaging" comment relates to my propensity for blowing up the website in my early days as I changed forum software or ran upgrades. Some early drinking this fine day?

Don't Take These Final Games For Granted

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) I miss baseball every winter. Even in seasons where we have good hockey and/or basketball, baseball is still always king. Agreed, I would like for them to shut Sale down after this next start as well. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) The younger-leaning of the two White Sox rookie affiliates won their league championship last week. From a developmental perspective, this is interesting in that the AZL team is what used to be the Bristol team. And that combined team had been awful for years. the fact that they won it all, and that the other rookie club (Great Falls) is also close to a playoff spot, indicate increased potential in the lower end of the system. Kim Contreras, our AZL correspondant who was there for many games including the big win, wrote this piece - not a prospect analysis, more of a story. This is what it looked like. You should give it a read. That article was awesome the little off the cuff bits and pieces made for a great read.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 07:34 AM) If it comes out it was a cover up and/or suicide, I'll be the first to say I was wrong and be shocked. I'm just giving the benefit of the doubt to the cops up here. Maybe I'm blind. I was talking to my dad about the suicide theory and he said family's do not get money for suicide or pension. Not entirely impossible he lied about the 3 and went out and killed himself so his family got money. I don't know. What would you be wrong on? After the Texas shooting this case became a lightening rod. The fact this could be a suicide is really sad.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) It's also baseball stupid regrading Shark. I never got the hype. I guess Billy Beane didn't either. Billy Beane bought into the hype moreso than anyone....Addison Russell may be the best player on the cub in three years and one ofthe best in baseball. That was a massive F'up by Beane -
The NL is a joke. The cubs are having a 2000 White Sox type season. One of those where everything goes right. Arrietta's career high IP prior to this season is 156....I still think there is something there and it is not going to end well for him.
-
Is the fact the cubs strike out at an alarming rate ever going to be an issue? On average they strike out once an inning...that is on average. Good pitchers get them three times every two innings and a good closer...well you get the point.
-
If the cub farm system is so loaded why can they not find any serviceable arms out of their pen? The throwing s*** against the wall and hoping it will stick may cost them down the line.

Shark taking the QO and the White Sox trading Quintana as a result is not the worst thing in the world. Sale/Shark/Rodon/Johnson/Danks is a nice rotation -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) Seriously, WTF Cardinals. Giving Cubs thoughts of beating them to the finish line now, only 5.5 back with 24 left if score holds. I think Pittsburgh has a better shot at catching the Cardinals and then Jaime Garcia v the cubs in a play-in game is interesting to me.

Ventura "absolutely" wants to manage White Sox next season

Well I know I will stay up late the first night to watch and then after Sonny Gray 1 hits the Sox and they lose 2-0 the season will be over but I will be happy to be at the home opener on a Friday which is awesome.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Are you serious? That's insane. Nope full blown re engaged manhunt after her report. Charged with a felony. I feel bad for the families that hired her as a nanny has she has to have some real issues.

QUOTE (Saufley @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) Let me bring up the name and player Gordon Beckham. Why is he still on this roster? Kid's got moxie.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) If he gets shipped to the pen...that's $16 million for a reliever. That's not something any team will trade anything of value for. Nice range by Buxton there. If he comes back, say the rotation does not change and Johnson is in limbo and May15th he has an ERA of 5, he could be moved to the pen for a cheap starter. Not ideal but they really cannot afford to take the risk on a QO.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) Serious Q: what does it take for the White Sox to not offer him a QO? Is he there already? No gotta roll the dice that some NL team will pay him. Even if he takes the QO the hope is he adds some value to be traded. If not ship him to the pen and tell him to throw really hard for an inning. Also makes it easier to move Quintana.
