  1. Niese and colon are options as well. Colon could give the cubs fits. Mets are pretty healthy which they were not when they played the cub earlier.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 12:05 PM) Is there any other product in the world where the prices are hidden from you? Cell phones service.
  3. The Mets rotation will get Wheeler back next year. Which will give them six quality starters under the age of 29. They have some young positional players to surround them with. Their future is as bright if not brighter then the cubs.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 04:34 PM) Thinking of swapping my wired genies out for wireless, any reviews on that? Should I expect any loss of quality? Wireless Genies will freeze and skip but not very often to be a concern. I liked the portability and the decrease in cords and crap. Cost was a little higher. God I miss my Direct TV...Uverse sucks.
  5. Everything has gone right for the cubs and players have had career years and in Arrieta's case a once in a generation career year. I think the cubs will be good but I think they only win 80 games next year. They have have sustained very few injuries.
  6. Toronto's hitting should overhelm the suspect KC pitching. Toronto's pitching should be able to handle the Royals as for the most part the Astros did. Blue Jays in 5.
  7. Colon could be a cubs nightmare. I can see him pitching in every game.
  8. Sox would not have developed soler to take pitches. Schwarber can't hit lefties and in three years will have no position.
  9. I still think there is something wrong with Arrieta and now Hammell? In the NL long term the Mets are pretty stacked going forward and I would say they have a better long term outlook than the cub.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 2m2 minutes ago Rob Manfred said #MLB hopes to have a rule in the future to better protect middle infielders, just as they did with home plate collisions. It is not real hard. You have to slide over the bag. You can not slide outside of the bag to make contact with an opponent.
  11. First baseball series win to occur in the city of Chicago in 108 years.
  12. Andrew Jones is only 38 years old....has no relevance to anything but I thought it was interesting how his career just kind of ended.
  13. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) Yeah, but there isn't a salary cap. They are in a completely different world. They have so many rookies making very little money. Yes but it could still be an unexpectedly large hit. He could ask for about $20M in arbitration.
  14. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) I know they'll be in it, but I feel like the Cubs will still get him. Arrieta is going to get paid this year and it will be an unexpectedly big hit to them. His agent is Boras and his free agency is still a few years off.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) Saw Bernstein on Twitter speculating Arrieta's arm is bugging him due to an excessive amount of stretching by him between pitches The excessive inning increase and number of hard sliders screams TJ in the near future.
  16. It was a great place to watch a game when the Marlins beat the cubs.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) http://www.villanova.com/sports/m-footbl/n...ootbl-body.html http://butlersports.com/sports/m-footbl/index Anything else you'd like to be wrong about today? There are schools that are forced to play D1 FCS that really shouldn't but they have to, to get the D1 basketball money. Valparaiso, Butler, Drake, Dayton, etc.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) I hope he turns into a beast of a center. Would be great. I've always felt championships and top teams are built at the lines. So did jerry vanisi and jim finks.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) He is a troll. Definition of troll - "One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument." How many other posters here do you attribute to posting about one theme? AustinIllini only posts about the Cubs being awesome or the Sox being horrible. He's been doing it since August because ever since that point, regardless if the Cubs ended in 1st, 2nd or last he'd be right. The Cubs are set up better in the future than the Sox are. I don't feel like a genius for saying it. Nor do I feel the need to say it in multiple threads and carry out arguments with multiple posters over it. The fact of the matter is that is a White Sox fan base. People come here to talk about the White Sox, for the camaraderie and for the community. You are polluting in this community Austin. Plenty of people would prefer this community without you because of your behavior of late. Trolling is against the rules. You can read the forum's guidelines here: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?act=boardrules. I thought that from his first post in this thread its kind of obvious.
  20. Bryant in Lf, Schwarber in RF, LaStella at 3B was what i heard. I assume he believes Arrieta can pitch over the defense.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) Chris Archer is so much better than Kruk and Jessica Mendoza. They should keep him on. Mendoza is kind of like Len Kasper. They seem to want to prove how much baseball they know.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 11:00 AM) Nobody's saying ND should get a lot of credit for beating Texas, though as bad as Texas is they're still way better than Samford. If ND finishes the season with only 1 loss (which I doubt happens anyway), the fact that Texas sucks will hurt. The point is not the ND schedule it is the fact that they miss out on a potential season changing game by not playing in a conference. They may get overlooked if they have one loss to other teams with one loss that win a championship game in their final week. ND is not the late 70's DePaul teams in regard to schedule. It is a big disadvantage in my mind though.
  23. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:26 AM) ND is capable of creating a 12 game schedule that is more than challenging enough to make up for the lack of a 13th game. Just happens that sometimes big teams that get scheduled (Texas) turn out to not be good. Also the ACC slate will rotate, so some years Florida State or Clemson will be on the schedule and other years neither will. There is a home and home with Georgia coming up in a few years, MSU is getting back on the schedule, and regular opponents USC and Stanford are usually both top 20 teams. That is the problem though if MSU is down that is not as big a game as years when they are up (i.e. this year). Without the potential for a championship game comes the potential for a crappy schedule. Texas a was great idea at the time but now, not so much. Not ND's fault but it is the problem with being independent.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) Does Comcast still have the "standard channels" and the HD ones? So if you pressed 2, it would take you to CBS but the standard def? Direct TV was awesome in that regard. Whatever the box (HD/SD) was, it picked up that type of signal. The AT&T U-verse DVR is complete s*** compared to Direct TV. AT&T sucks
  25. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) Soxfest Q & A should be epic. Does anyone go to that anymore? That seems to be a cheerleading event now that the Friday sessions require about $1,000 to attend.
