Is Chris Sale the best pitcher that the Sox have ever had?
Harry Chappas replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) Hoyt would have been an icon in Chicago history if not for Dybber. Hoyt was 24-10 that 1983 year with a 3.66 ERA. If Dybber doesn't mess up the series is 2-2 and Sox EASILY win the Sunday game to take that series behind Hoyt. Then they continue steaming to a WS title. They won 99 games that year. I'm surprised that what ultimately happened that season is not discussed as one of the biggest chokes ever by a team. Sale is amazing, though. If he stays healthy he'll be best Sox starter ever. He really ought to ask experts about his delivery. Longevity is all that may escape Mr. Sale. he is superb. Check my post in the most hated thread. The Orioles talked about how they felt they had no chance against Hoyt in a game 5. -
I think what is bugging me moreso now is that in Chicago the White Sox are either ignored or on the shows like B&B they are compared to the cubs. As a comparative the cubs are looking like a better situation right now but that is not to say the White Sox situation is dire. Right now, which farm system is better.....you would have to say the White Sox right....I understand that all of the cub talent is at the big league level but now what have they got in the pipeline...I guess we will see....the cubs may still have a top 5 farm system I do not really know. I think the White Sox have some interesting things happening. They are bringing up guys that appear to be able to produce if for nothing other than solid defense (Saladino, Thompson, Sanchez). Guys that seem to not be in the mode of terrible at bats who can grow and learn and help the team. Eric and Micah Johnson along with Tim Anderson appear to be able to add something productive and Montas is as interesting as anyone in the minors. Fulmer and Rodon look like really nice gets in the draft. As was pointed out earlier, Arrieta has added miles to his fastball......that to me feels like something that will take a toll shortly. Windows close quickly in sports and I feel the cubs may regret not getting a better arm than Haren before all is said and done.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) I despise Trump, but the bolded is just idiotic if that's really what they said. Again I only head a caller call in to complain and the co-host kind of put her down for her comments. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) http://deadspin.com/yankees-yell-at-carlos...dium=socialflow I don't see anything wrong with what Gomez did. Even though the game was out of hand, mad at himself for missing a pitch, when he has been struggling since going to the Astros. Yet, the Yankees going after him to act professional which I disagree with. Also, the slide by Gomez looked fine to be as well, just over slid it. Thoughts? I don't think he even touched Ryan. Yes taking guys out with a head first slide is a good idea, as a knee to the head does not end well for the head. Michael kay is a dope .

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?

I would like to see a new PBP guy and Hawk be the color guy when Stone takes his time off which seems to be happening more and more. -

Anyone listening to 560 this morning in Chicago? I only heard the end of it but it sounded as though Amy Jacobson seemed to blame Donald Trump and his attempt to call out the media bias for this. I don't think I want to see the footage. -
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) A good number of my friends are Cubs fans, and for the most part they are just that - Cubs fans, not Sox haters. So, for them, Im not unhappy if the Cubs have success. But, man, is the media annoying. For comparison, the Sox were 71-55 in 2012 on this date, and I don't remember guys in the media doing quite as much cheerleading. I think that is what gets me, not really their success but the over the top cheerleading that transpires with them.

Most hated player in White Sox history

Jerry dybzynski cost the white sox the 83 title -
Imagine if the Astros were still in the NL Central, the cubs road would be much tougher over the next few years. The NL is atrocious.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 11:39 PM) As does the GM and manager. Everyone outside of pitching in the organization. Do the white sox even employ an advanced scout......most like someone who played in the 80's like mike squires. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) I see no way Ventura should be brought back. The team predictably folded after that Boston series. If he wants to come back he will be brought back. Buddy bell and Vince Coleman still have their jobs. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) Really it's his defense that is really punishing Garcia and the team right now. They'll have to figure that one out at some point. I think his base running is what kills him along with bad defense. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) Aw hell, someone said it, now the NL is a lock for the WS win again. Winning the WS does not make the NL better, nor does winning the all-star game. Other than Boston, the other three worst teams (Oakland, Seattle, Cleveland) in the AL have a Cy young candidate that they can run out there on occasion and have talent. The Rockies staff is horrible, the Brewers suck, the Reds suck, the Marlins until Fernandez and Stanton get back to 100% suck , Arizona, Philly and Atlanta suck. The Cardinals are the toast of baseball and they are nothing all that specail. The talent disparity between the AL and NL right now is massive and the cub will benefit greatly from this.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Hawk rant was a slam to the coaching staff and team attitude. While it may not have been intentional it goes to the point that there is talent there and the failing of the team is baseball IQ and coaching. I am not a Hawk fan and the cub broadcast is better but Len Kasper feels the need to push every advanced metric he can into the broadcast. As a fan I do not need advanced metrics to know what is happening. WAR, fWAR and FIP, ERA+ etc do not mean anything to me. I am a professional, understand numbers very well and love baseball. OBP, HR, WHIP and ERA are all I need to understand the game and who sucks and how much they suck. I can see with my eyes guys that cannot field, guys that can, and guys that will not hurt nor help you in the field. I dod not need zome rating and that bulls***. I do not need Fangraphs and Baseball Prospectus. What I need is a nice broadcast something between Len and Hawk, and the best stat of all TWTW. The putrid baseball IQ of the White Sox is more of an issue with me than the Hawkeroo. Go You White SOX! -
Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The score is bordering on unlistenable. You would think the white sox are 20 games under. Why the topic of hawk harrelson is such an issue with them is beyond almost seems like a crusade. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) Weren't the Nats the greatest collection of young talent ever put together, and they would dominate the game 18 months ago? What happened? Simple, they failed to retain the services of Adam LaRoche The National League is god awful.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) [/b] The subject of one of all time favorite long running Soxtalk debates. Aaron Miles versus Juan Uribe. Wasn't it Aaron Miles v bobby Hill?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Wow, that's desperate Rongey. One team has a 4.5 game lead in the WC race, the other one is 4.5 games back, behind 6 teams. That is the truth and it was a big issue earlier in the year when Lester was struggling and imagine it being a one game playoff and that becomes an issue.
