QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) Cubs have 100 more walks and 149 more Ks than the Sox this year. The philosophy is to take pitches that are pitchers pitches. The Cardinal game with Montero was a prime example. He took a pitch he could not do anything with and got the call then doubled. As the Hawkeroo has been saying for years a bad plan is better than no plan at all. I do not think the White Sox have a plan as an organization.

Plate discipline that the cubs instilled as an organization from top to bottom is one thing I really give them credit for as it mirrors Boston and New York. Obviously it is not working as well as those two have in the past but it beats the hell out of the first pitch pop out or whatever failing white Sox philosophy there is.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) He's been absolutely horrible as well. Hopefully he's DFA'd soon. In much limited action. He and Schuck have not been used nearly as much as they should have been earlier in the season and this seems to be a thing going back to Guillen. I am not certain either are all that good but the everyday guys are not doing much that these two should not be seeing more time.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Minor point...how much of a chance has he been given? He's on pace for 150 PAs this season, so less than 1/4 of a full season. Same thing with Shuck. While they are not the answer the s*** that is run out there nightly is not really doing the job.

QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) I know the team sucks, but the stadium food? I think it's as good as it's ever been and the front office has made a good effort to offer interesting things to eat and drink. That's one of the few things they've done right the past several years. The food isn't the problem causing low attendance. It's all of the other things we keep beating the drum about: bad team, unattractive neighborhood situated far away from the Loop with no reputation for partying, second-fiddle stadium to Wrigley, less media coverage, etc. Not one person alive said, I am hungry, let's get something eat. Where shall we go...U.S. Cellular field. The food is good but it is not drawing in fans same as the food at Wrigley is not driving the fans away.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) I think that was overblown a bit as well. The first 4 years JR owned the White Sox they outdrew the Cubs by about 1,400,000 total. What killed the Sox was 1984. Everything came up roses for the Cubs until they went to San Diego in October. It used to be, they would actually close the upper deck at Wrigley Field back then. It wasn't until Harry's 4th season with the Cubs where they overtook the White Sox attendance-wise. The Sox actually slightly outdrew them in 1984. The renaissance of wrigleyville and the poorly constructed US Cellular led to the flip. The late 90's was what killed the White Sox and built the cubs. The gap narrowed over the last couple of years but now it has blown wide open and looks to be this way for a while as the White Sox suck.

This team sucks I was at the game on June 19th and I was at Monday's game. Other than watching Chris Sale pitch there is no reason to be out there NONE. The fundamentals, food etc are all bulls***. Put a good team on the field that is exciting to watch and you will get fans. Quintana would be a reason to go but I'd rather see Sale. The hitting and defense are atrocious, the team has ZERO baseball IQ and the same s*** happens time and again. Carlos Sanchez cannot get a bunt down two nights in a row. Moves should have already have been made as this crap is not changing and has not since the first four game losing streak proved that this team cannot hit, field or run the bases.
-
Sitting out at the game and seeing the entire left side of the infield wide open while he grounds to first or second is almost comical.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) Sure, but it's an easier pill to swallow when he provided your team with such a dominant stretch and was part of 5 playoff teams and two WS appearances. It's not like they signed him as a free agent in 2013 or something. Danks was worth contract when he signed.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 12:37 AM) If I could pick one team to sweep all year it would the Cardinals. Would want to sweep the cubs and as such if there were a team I would not mind being swept by it is the cardinals. -

It really is sad that I do not care whatsoever about this team right now. Not certain if Ozzie is the right move or not but it could not be any worse. -
white Sox willing to part with Alexei Ramirez

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) One of the last times it looked like he cared was the no-challenge game against Detroit towards the end of April. Whether he does (care) or not, I don't know- but that (along with the results) have made watching this team a chore. I have been thinking about that for some time. -
I am not an Illinois fan but I could see how that would bring a smile to an Illinois fan's face. The thing about it was that he is from Chicago so handling it the way he did was a kick in the nuts to Illinois fans in Chicago.
