QUOTE (glangon @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 07:36 AM) Surely one glaringly obvious move would be to consistantly play La Roche at First Base and have Abreu at DH. La Roche's defense is head and shoulders above Abreu's. We also need a defensive catcher. Teams are running for fun against Flowers and Soto. Its all very nice to say that Flowers calls a game well but he isn't hitting and can't shut down the running game and neither is Soto. Teams against us have stolen bases for fun and we are second in the majors with 79% of runners stealing bases on Soto and Flowers, only the Marlins are higher with 82%, if you compare that to the Blue Jays who have only allowed 56% of runners to steal. We are the worst in the American League at allowing stolen bases and we have 4 lefties in the rotation with Sale and Danks having good pick off moves. The LaRoche thing is once again a really bad baseball move. Abreu is terrible at first base and the DH is a gold glove winner.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) How are the Rays over .500? I haven't heard a majority of their players lol Joe Maddon is baseball Jesus! How he continues to win down there is beyond me. -
Beautiful night at the ballpark perfect weather. First five innings seemed to take forever. Nice timely homeruns. Got lucky with Q left him in one batter too long. Base running is terrible Vince Coleman needs to be reassigned.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) He's our number 2 starter now Yep Is there any reason to believe his ceiling is not Chris Sale?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 05:16 PM) Not a chance in hell. Wouldn't do it for Schwarber either. For Russell, yes. That trade would make sense. My guess is Castro goes.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) I actually agree with the Robertson sentiment, but there are very few managers who would have done it any differently. That's just an "old school cardinal rule" thing. So is pinch hitting to use match ups to your advantage. I thought when the leftie came in they said it was the only leftie in the pen.
-
The fact the Rangers have one leftie in the pen and our left handed hitters did not pinch hit last night still irks me. Especially for Ramirez or Cabrerra and probably should have for Beckham and FLowers as well Also if Ventura is only going to use Robertson in save situations, he has no need on the team and will get rusty more times than being sharp. Has he pitched in the last week? When he blows his next opportunity (ala Toronto after a week lay off) this can be the number one reason. Ventura is not getting better at his job.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:05 PM) No excuse for letting Flowers bat twice in extra innings. I know Robin has his fans here, but the dude is a horrible in-game manager IMO. He really is. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:01 PM) Yeah I'm not sure why they are saving their best pitcher for a hope of a save at some point in the later innings Seems like he has only pitched in three games this trip. -

Sox pitching can only do so much. When was last time Robertson pitched? -

X QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) Alexei has been absolutely terrible. Sanchez can't hit at this level either. At one point tonight, 6 of the 9 hitters in the lineup were at .235 or lower with minimal power. So does every team. That is why they are at the bottom of the order. Eaton and cabrerra are #1 and #2 they can't be as bad as the 6-9 hitters. -

Eaton and cabrerra are really the main issue right now. Neither are on base enough to affect defensive shifts against abreu and laroche. The rest of the team is fine. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) MLB Stat of the Day @MLBStatoftheDay 2h2 hours ago Mark Buehrle has won 147 games in which he’s allowed more hits than strikeouts recorded. Wonder what his career BABIP is.

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) LaRoche is better than Abreu at first base? I've seen more of Abreu so maybe its not fair but I've seen Abreu make a bunch of great throws and great plays on bullets. I remember one or two bullets at LaRoche and they have went right through him. Not sure on the conclusion that LaRoche is better at first. Bases loaded double play after review in Houston is all you need to see. That ball gets by Abreu 2 runs score and John Danks does not pitch his first complete game shutout since the Bush administration.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 25, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) 5-6 is the best they can do. Most likely 4-7 3-8 the metrices have a negative WAR hitting team. This team is epically bad. 6-5 would be really nice. It would not solve anything one way or another in regard to the seasonal outlook. This team could win the next six or lose the next six.
-
I think for relievers the time away is not as great a deal as starters. If they can get healthy they could add soemthing. I am a big fan of both as well.
-
I will say that he should have never have been moved from third base. He would be what hawk thought he was as a fielder at 3rd base and make up for some of his hitting shortfalls.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 4m4 minutes ago No Abreu in tonight's starting lineup Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 3m3 minutes ago Jose Abreu (finger) still out tonight. Gillaspie at DH, Beckham at third. Soto catching Samardzija. Why Gillaspie and not Garcia with Schuck in the outfield? -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2015 -> 12:05 AM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 6m6 minutes ago Jose Abreu is headed to the hospital for x-rays. Said he initially hurt his finger two weeks ago in Chicago. #WhiteSox Hopefully he's ok, but has to be concerning it's still swollen after two weeks Yet another reason he should DH at least until it heals. No xray machine at the trop?

Flowers needs to go. Bring up George could he possibly do any worse. Defense is bad but a nice win.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) The split with O's and good outing tonight. They look like a big league team IMO except for the inept hitting which admittedly is starting to anger me tonight. 2 of 3 runs unearned due to poor defense. -
