  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) The 3 inning stint was a ejection for hitting someone. But the Sox have to let him walk them. That's when he gets in trouble. That was said about Kluber a couple of weeks back. The hitting coach was to preach this but maybe the Sox need to get guys that can actually do this. The lack of making any pitcher work is the biggest issue with this team.
  2. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) I have to admit I don't understand the "team looks lifeless" comments. Is it because they aren't hitting? What do you want them to do exactly? We just saw them in a brawl a few days ago where several of our guys went a little overboard. I am very frustrated with how they're playing too but I don't get that complaint. Bad at bats and consistently going down in order make you look lifeless. There are many times where a pitcher throws 8 or 9 pitches to get through an inning. Yet another tipping of the cap ala Tommy Millone.
  3. Abreu should get maybe 50% of the games at first. The White Sox defense is terrible and the one guy known for defense is the DH. Shifts beat White Sox hitters because very few are good hitters. They do not take pitches and pitchers let them get themselves out. That is the case for many years and is a product of a low OBP. They hit pitchers pitches and do not adjust. Pitchers know how to get them out and the White Sox oblige. This has been the story for a few years now.
  4. Why did this game not start at like 11:00? Play the game and get the hell out of there.
  5. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) Just to clarify, NSS and I were discussing the Denver PD regarding a decrease in requirements to join the force. A quick Google search seems to indicate that the Chicago PD does in fact still require a minimum of 2 years of college. Though Google is certainly not infallible. That remains the requirement but veterans get an exception. To be promoted though you need the schooling. $43K for a new officer in their early 20's is not a bad gig and the benefits for the CPD are not bad. Is it an ideal job, no, that is getting on the Chicago Fire Department. In my opinion social media will continue to be a larger negative influence than it is a benefit.
  6. This situation is really not that hard, treat it as a natural disaster. Both teams should have been on a plane last evening and in Chicago to play a night game tonight and double header tomorrow. If the Orioles do not have insurance for this type of thing shame on them. If all three games are a wash the White Sox better b**** and moan to high heaven.
  7. Vermette line could be more dangerous than the Richards line.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) There are appendices in the back of each book with brief descriptions of the characters and which houses they belong to. Yes and I flipped to that about every two pages and got frustrated. It was too much like homework.
  9. The worst is the AL pitchers that do it one maybe two games a year.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) My son and daughter finally behaved well for a night (each of them) and got to catch up on some GOT (finally all the way up to speed). I haven't read the books so I don't know what happened but I feel that there are a lot of interesting storylines leading up to what should be a great season (figure things are going to really build from here). Curious whether we have Jon Stark or Snow and what will happen with Sansa and Winterfell. As a fan of all things North, I get fired up at the thought of Snow becoming a Stark and kicking Bolton and Ramsie's asses back to the stoneage, taking over Winterfell and rescuing Sansa. However...as a fan of the North...I realize I probably won't get my wish as the North is always getting crushed, haha. The one interesting thing...the show has less people I hate right now...Ramsay / Bolton I loathe and while I don't like Cersei (I think she plays the part fantastic and is good for the show), Reak (well I quietly hope he lashes back on them and rescues Sansa (if Snow doesn't). Outside of that, not a lot of people I loathe...where as I used to dislike the Kingslayer (now I like him) and with Joffrey and Lanister gone, who I despised too...I feel the show needs to find some new people to be "enemies". Maybe they do that with Stannis (who I don't hate or like) and well I actually don't like the Queen much, but if she hitches her wagon to Tyrion (and it means more Tyrion), than count me in. Damn...did I mention how much I love this series. I figure when my son / daughter grow up, I'll read these books and actually read Harry Potter and than show them the series. Harry Potter is training wheels for GOT. GOT is way to confusing for me. I read 150 pages of the first book and felt I needed a flowchart to keep going.

I've liked GOT but I did not read the books and am clueless on pretty much most of what is happening. What happened to the Stark kid that was pushed out the window. He has not been in this season I recall.
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) You are seriously blaming a rookie batting 9th for the offensive problems of the sox? A small part, Eaton and laroche much more
  13. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:25 PM) Only good thing that came from that game is that some of our players showed some f***ing life and heart and in that scrum. Sale, Shark, Q (reports), and Eaton all had some fire in them and were not gonna let those punks come into our house and take it over. I loved what the Shark did, he showed the team he is with them 100 %. I do wish it was Q, Danks, or Noesi bc Rodon can fill their shoes better then they can themselves. Our team needs something to get their bats going hopefully this was it. It did nothing for the white sox. The starting three were not the ones that needed to show anything.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:24 PM) Biggest issue with Sox lineup right now is that there is no power at all outside of Abreu/LaRoche. Hard to score a lot of runs when you have minimal power and a team that doesn't walk much. 3rd base is a position that looks to need a serious upgrade. With Johnson/Eaton on this roster likely to be starting for the next few seasons, you can't have gaping power issues in RF and 3B as well. Eaton and Johnson not getting on base Laroche playing like Dunn did Those are your issues.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:18 PM) He looks incredibly stiff vs RHP, which slows down his bat speed and makes it nearly impossible for him to clear his hips to pull the ball with any authority. If you watch him against LHP, he seems to open up so much better. Whatever philosophy ole steve was going to bring from Oakland it is not working.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:15 PM) can't believe LaRoche has turned into Dunn. It's early, but Morales looks to have been a much better possible fit. Every thing we heard of laroche has been unfounded this year. Not a leader and looks really old. Ventura needs to do something with this horses*** lineup.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:12 PM) Oh yay, chase ball 3 New hitting coach same bad hitting philosophy.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) This team makes winning games seem very difficult. Every returning player besides Abreu from last year's offense has been a disgrace. Once again the baseball IQ of this organization is very low. Ton of really bad at bats and terrible fundamentals. Pitchers continue to let the Sox get themselves out.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) Well guess what, LaRoche K'd and Avi grounded out. If alexi is going to bunt so should have cabrerra. KC will get some bulls*** run eventually and sox will have three s***ty at bats
  20. Why do players lose any patience at the plate when they join the white sox.
  21. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:37 PM) With Alexei no thanks Bonifacio should have hit if he wanted to bunt. Stupid managing and the continued giving up of at bats.
  22. Ventura needs to stop trying to manage into runs it does not work.
  23. Sad part is the cubs are all they are to be and are playing well. The sox will have zero coverage and interest in about a week.
  24. This team sucks. They are absolutely painful to watch and waste of time.
  25. Once again just to point out. With the game winning walk off run on second and nobody out THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE THERE. All other points and counterpoints are irrelevant. The IBB seems to be mystical thought in the White Sox dugout as well as the use of video review. Go back to the Orioles game last year and the play at theplate you would think Robin would just say f*** it who knows maybe we win.
