  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 10:39 AM) Kevin Matthews 1 hr · Twitter · Source: Hawks haven't asked Patrick Kane about waiving no-move clause - via @ESPN App He get this from Jim Shorts or Chet Chit Chat......I assume a different Kevin Matthews...
  2. The Ag School is not open to all Mt Greenwood families. While it is an option not all can attend. I am not certain what that makes it but I know it is a good school but all of Mt greenwood can not simply enroll there as they can with Cassell and Mt Greenwood School. MHR is Most Holy Redeemer The fields at 118th and Homan....Merionette Park? Mt Greenwood baseball was swallowed up by Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park and Merrionette Park. They are trying to get something going but travel baseball and those neighboring leagues kill them.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) http://thebiglead.com/2015/09/02/jessica-m...cot-mccloughan/ Thank you Redskins, for being yourselves Unrealted but why did the guy go the Comcast offices with a Fox Sports hat on and I still see no real benefit to 99% of all twitter accounts. The narcissism of America is growing exponentially.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) I'm thinking it's the strikeouts. When I have some time later I'll look closer to see how high strikeout offenses have fared against good pitching, I would think they're more susceptible to being put down. They struck out 13 times today and that seems to be the norm. All of their rookies strike out over 31% of the time.
  5. How did they get Austin Jackson for nothing? Teams seem to really like helping the cubs out going back to the Derek Lee and Ramirez days.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Votto! BRYANT!
  7. The SCORE uses a term called bum slayer for guys like Joakim Noah but isn't that exactly what the cubs are? That lineup beats bad pitching but gets handled rather easily by good pitching. I guess maybe that is all of baseball who knows.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 34m34 minutes ago White Sox prospect Erik Johnson "very much back in the mix" for major-league rotation spot in 2016. http://fw.to/Mkhjc7d What other comment would you expect to see?
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Harry do you live on the south side still? I need to get down there for a Brother Rice sporting event to relive the past. Is that parking lot big enough to hold all the cars for football games? Did they rename the field because of the Joe Johnson controversy? p.s. I looked up and it's 10,000 bucks a year to attend brother rice. You get 3,000 off if you record some amazing score on the entrance exam. Man, if a south side working family had 3 boys born close to each other and were in high school at the same time that'd be 30,000 a year. or even if one was a girl i assume McAuley's tutition is about the same. You have three boys and 10000 a year that's 120,000 after just four years. Hopefully mom and dad have great occupations. Although you just can't live on the south side and send your kids to public schools can you? I'd assume schools like Morgan Park and Evergreen Park are wretchedly bad. I live in Mt Greenwood. EP is actually better than it was MoPo is not an option Ag School is select enrollment I have one at Rice and two in catholic grammar school. It is worth it thus far as the education is pretty good. My son did get $3K off for being a bright kid. The community involvement is what makes these schools and neighborhoods thrive. I really like where I live compared to when i lived in the south suburbs. I have always lived in Chicago and like it. They converted the tennis court to parking and some of the front entrance greenery is parking now as well. Be weary of Brother Rice until you see how Loyola goes. The starting QB for Rice and the starting QB for Marist both played in the MHR backfield four years ago....Rice kid was the QB.
  10. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) The mistakes are so awful at this point. While there is a lot of bad luck, baseball on the south side has been rough for some time and the Score is the White Sox network, so they're forced to talk about it. Conversations on how bad Hawk is and going on about the idiotic things he says as if they were a news network and Hawk was misrepresenting the American position on Iran. The White Sox were projected to win around 78 games that is about where they will end up. The issue is that the cubs literally can do no wrong. It has become fan boy network for the cubs and after losing the White Sox it has gotten worse. Has anyone noticed that the White Sox post game is much shorter now.
  11. As you can see in the PHT thread it seems like the SCORE feels the need to pound home the White Sox mistakes (Tannehill and Abbatacola) If you listen to that station you would believe the cubs were flawless and a lock for the world series and the White Sox were 35 games under.
  12. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) What? Which guys? Put in ages next to those guys and then days on the DL and you can better understand how and where Quintana would fit in.
  13. Alexi Ramirez should not play another game this month. Not saying he should not be brought back but he should not play this month. Nor should Melky or La Roche.
  14. People on this board and the city of Chicago need to temper the crowning of the cubs and more importantly relax on over blowing how bad the White Sox are. This year the cubs are well over the skis and everything has gone right. That doesn't happen often.
  15. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) Devil's advocate - Let's say the girl in question is making it up. What did Kane do wrong? Have a one night stand? I'm not defending him, either. I think the way athletes and entertainers use women is pretty bad. It's also really dumb for them to put themselves in a situation where they might be accused of something by someone they don't really know. But, I don't think one night stands are uncommon in sports, so I don't see why the Hawks would have a higher standard for Kane in this regard than they would for any of his teammates. There is a lot of smoke around Patrick Kane. Whether a fire breaks out, that is what the Hawks need to decide. If you get equal value him you move him, if not, pray this is a wake up call.
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) The Cubs are 74-56 with a +22 run differential (13th overall). The A's have a +18 run differential yet are 58-74. Baseball is weird. Arizona is ahead of the cubs I believe in run differential. Everything is going right for them this year. Sometimes that just happens. Statistically speaking they are an anomaly. I still think they will regret not getting another arm. I also think they strike out way to much.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Q: Brother Rice annihilated Brother Rice of Michigan on Saturday in an interesting game, one in which you could guarantee, 100 percent flat out before kickoff that Brother Rice would win. My question is: Is Brother Rice of Pulaski Road vastly underrated this year and will they excel? Also, why does St. Laurence always suck in sports? And finally, do schools like Brother Rice recruit players? Is there an art to the recruiting so it's legal according to KSHSAA rules? Greg not sure when you left Mt greenwood but all of the southside Catholic schools are getting hit with lower enrollment as costs rise. Brother Rice and Marist has a nice niche to draw city kids and suburban kids. City kids have limited options. St Laurence problem is that the Garfield Ridge area is more hispanic and the Burbank area and parts of Oak Lawn are more depressed now and hte Reavis/OLHs options are better options. They do recruit and the trick is getting kids proper financial assistance in order to remain fiscally strong. I was at the Brother Rice game, they looked incredible but the proof will be in the pudding when the likes of MC, Loyola and Providence come calling.
  18. This is a good sign that money is not a concern and the future is now.
  19. Sonny gray, Felix Hernandez, chris sale....all top flight pitchers nowhere close to the playoffs. The NL is god awful look at the staffs of your bottom teams. They got nothing. Cinncinati, Colorado, Milwaukee, Miami, Philly, and Arizona have no pitching at all.
  20. I think the cubs will still get beat by average pitching and dominated by above average pitching. The pitching in the NL is god awful.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 01:56 PM) What professional athlete do you know of that hasnt taken a girl home from a bar? Obviously he's a moron for not vetting them better but I dont see that situation as abnormal Tim Tebow.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) Hoyt would have been an icon in Chicago history if not for Dybber. Hoyt was 24-10 that 1983 year with a 3.66 ERA. If Dybber doesn't mess up the series is 2-2 and Sox EASILY win the Sunday game to take that series behind Hoyt. Then they continue steaming to a WS title. They won 99 games that year. I'm surprised that what ultimately happened that season is not discussed as one of the biggest chokes ever by a team. Sale is amazing, though. If he stays healthy he'll be best Sox starter ever. He really ought to ask experts about his delivery. Longevity is all that may escape Mr. Sale. he is superb. Check my post in the most hated thread. The Orioles talked about how they felt they had no chance against Hoyt in a game 5.
  23. I think what is bugging me moreso now is that in Chicago the White Sox are either ignored or on the shows like B&B they are compared to the cubs. As a comparative the cubs are looking like a better situation right now but that is not to say the White Sox situation is dire. Right now, which farm system is better.....you would have to say the White Sox right....I understand that all of the cub talent is at the big league level but now what have they got in the pipeline...I guess we will see....the cubs may still have a top 5 farm system I do not really know. I think the White Sox have some interesting things happening. They are bringing up guys that appear to be able to produce if for nothing other than solid defense (Saladino, Thompson, Sanchez). Guys that seem to not be in the mode of terrible at bats who can grow and learn and help the team. Eric and Micah Johnson along with Tim Anderson appear to be able to add something productive and Montas is as interesting as anyone in the minors. Fulmer and Rodon look like really nice gets in the draft. As was pointed out earlier, Arrieta has added miles to his fastball......that to me feels like something that will take a toll shortly. Windows close quickly in sports and I feel the cubs may regret not getting a better arm than Haren before all is said and done.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) I despise Trump, but the bolded is just idiotic if that's really what they said. Again I only head a caller call in to complain and the co-host kind of put her down for her comments.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) http://deadspin.com/yankees-yell-at-carlos...dium=socialflow I don't see anything wrong with what Gomez did. Even though the game was out of hand, mad at himself for missing a pitch, when he has been struggling since going to the Astros. Yet, the Yankees going after him to act professional which I disagree with. Also, the slide by Gomez looked fine to be as well, just over slid it. Thoughts? I don't think he even touched Ryan. Yes taking guys out with a head first slide is a good idea, as a knee to the head does not end well for the head. Michael kay is a dope .
