  1. The official in Clemson game could have cost big $20m as I think OSU and msu go to play in playoff and Iowa to rose. That guy better be fired.
  2. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) And if I was a Cubs fan, I'd be fully on board with that. It's time. I think everyone agrees on this but I am not certain this move makes them all that much better if this is their added arm.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) Seen a few places the Cardinals might go after Samardzija now Makes a lot of sense and I would love it if it worked out.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) David KaplanVerified account ‏@thekapman That lines up with what my source told me earlier this afternoon that Lackey wanted to be here with Lester, Ross and Theo. Amazing how the media kisses Theo's ass Lines up with the fact nobody was parting with $32M for him...somehow with the cub defense and his age, I don't see this move working out really well. Media will spin it as something greater than what it is.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) That was kinda weird. I went to the Irish Fellowship Club luncheon today. Rahm, McCarthy AND Alvarez were there. McCarthy got the loudest applause with a standing ovation. He was pretty well liked across the board especially as an outsider that came into Chicago.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) Pretty much. Can't blame the ref for flagging it. Two guys threw the flag.....two guys saw it wrong. On that penalty both guys assumed they saw something that they did not. It did look clear on tv but they need to see it to throw and neither could have seen it as it was not there.

Older folks like me are just pissed that MTV does not show videos and cancelled Remote Control and as such, believe everything on MTV is s***.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) Couldnt a terrorist easily plot these things out for basically anywhere? Like a mall or any venue that that is going to hold a lot of people at one time. I know security is a little amped up but really nothing that could stop the spraying of bullets for a couple of minutes. I think the fact this was a holiday/Christmas party is what is being overlooked here. The workplace grievance line would work if he was appalled by the overly Christian representation at this party.
  9. Is there any replay that shows the facemask
  10. What would camera audio do? Is the mic powerful enough to pick up noise outside the car? I am not certain what the great expectation is there. I think the video tells the whole story what more is needed?
  11. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) How appropriate to see notorious abuser of women Bobby Hull and his current iteration, Patrick Kane, in the same graphic. Wow is about all I will say......to compare Kane and Hull could be the most clueless thing you could post and that's saying something.
  12. Coldplay playing halftime of the Super Bowl
  13. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) I saw some graph on SSS that had Flowers getting 38 pitches outside the zone called strikes. A whole 38 if it's accurate . Woooo damn think how bad the Sox would be if they didn't get those 38 called strikes which by the way could be on the ump or a pitchers rep. Way way way too much discussion about it. Catching a fly ball properly gives you a better chance to throw out runners as do a lot of little things make you a better defender. The fact that it is easily charted is the only reason it's even talked about in this crazy environment of stats. All the other little things other fielders do is less definable. I'm actually surprised we haven't seen stats yet on how accurate infielders throw to first yet. Pitch framing talk is the most ridiculous new stat in the history of baseball. I said in another thread and I will expound further that I thought a good catcher gets about one strike called every three games. That is one out a week and six innings of outs in a aseason...maybe that is good I don't know. I saw Tyler Flowers lose a game single handidly in one inning because he sucks on defense that kills the six innings of outs listed above. Not to mention the offensive offense he put up. Did the Sox improve the position...not certain...but it is no worse and at least a decent platoon seems to be in place
  14. The only thing I do not like about Bennett is he seems to never get any YAC
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) Is it because of how it's applied? You think there's less luck involved in it than people claim? What about the extremes? Don't care how good a guy is, a .380 BABIP for a hitter is not sustainable, nor is a .230 BABIP if you're a pitcher. I don't know it just seems like a stat that could easily be explained away. Fast guys will have higher BABIP, guys with high LD% will have higher BABIP, it then takes power and strike outs out of the equation. To me it just feels like a dumb stat
  16. Tell me to shut up and go away if this is a greg post but when the Brady assault weapon ban expired these weapons then became easier to get correct? If so, I wonder how many would have been deemed illegal under this law that are now legal and if there have been reporting on this. Again if I am wrong just tell me and I will go away but that seemed to be a big topic years ago and seems to be under the auspices of "gun control".
  17. If used as a real platoon this is a great idea.....why do I think it will come down to pitching personal preferences and neither guy will have offensive success.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:42 PM) Why is BABIP overblown? I just don't like it. I am not sure why I just don't.
  19. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) I wouldn't really say Tyler Flowers has defensive value.. pitch framing metrics liked him but how much of this can be attributed to the fact that he had Sale and Quintana who have pretty spot on control throwing to him 2/5 days a week? Other than that I remember him as being clunky and bad behind the plate with a horrible arm.. Spot on Pitch framing is an over blown stat almost as much as babip Am I wrong, I could be but a top flight pitch framer gets one more called strike game?
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) WHAT???? Someone signed him for actual money? I guess he'd be good as a defensive oriented utility man, but he can't hit at all. Home town and cheap
  21. Price was media fluff rah rah everyone loves Joe Maddon and the cubs crap I thought Zimmerman was the guy they were going to get
  22. Didn't Max get about the same deal? Why is anyone surprised by this deal? I love the cub hype that he was going to go there yet they did not make an offer, what the hell did everyone think he would sign for?
  23. Cub talking heads have been in full force the last couple of days in the Chicago media Basically said the contracts were looking to be too rich and the second tier guys behind Lester and Arrieta are what they need, not top of the line guys. I still think the debt and infrastructure costs are what is getting them The fact the Cardinals were going that high makes me think they are spending somewhere big this offseason
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Disagree strongly here. Chicago and Cook County are corrupt, but people don't seem to see what has and hasn't changed. Preckwinkle and Emmanuel have both done pretty good work getting their financial pictures in a better place. Oh, you say it looks bad? Well yeah, it was awful before, but has gotten better in some key areas. Emmanuel's handling of policing leaves a lot to be desired, and his work with CPS has been needlessly rocky. He's no angel for damn sure. But he was handed an absolute pile of financial poop, and he's done reasonably well with it, as opposed to Daley who drove the city to the cliff. Same with Preckwinkle, who has done a lot to fix the mess left by various Strogers. I'll get yelled at now, because people are upset with the status quo. And I agree that the current picture is ugly. But it is less ugly. I probably wouldn't vote for Rahm again, but it depends on who else runs. Preckwinkle is fine, I voted for her before and would again. They are both hamstrung in so many ways, it will take a long, long time to get the ship back in order. I'd love to see Claypool run for Mayor, by the way. I thought I liked Claypool and then I realized they are all a part of the same machine. The upcoming CPS strike will make or break him.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) It's so ingrained though. You're not getting a city council position, judge appointment, garbage collector department head job, etc. unless you know someone in the system and have paid your dues. edit: and who's our next mayor? Most likely Preckwinkle. And whose camp is she in? Rahm's. She's part of the same cog. I thought she would be a nice change but yep the county has not changed one bit under her. The county once again raised taxes. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/p...1109-story.html The tipping point for living in this city, in this county, in this state continues to grow near.
