  1. The stats driving his price (defense and base running) to me are more of a gray area that are being rewarded for uncertain future rewards. If the cub sign him for 10/$200M this is yet another step back for their process as I think every move they have made this off-season will lead to a regression in the overall scope of the process.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:29 PM) i wasn't even interested in tonite's game, i was more interesting in any news on fa or trades of mlb. dang. darling. neither were the Blackhawks
  3. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) Burns retired after he was traded to the Yankees in 1985, which by some measures was his best year. Dotson had a weird pec injury if I remember correctly, but he remained a serviceable pitcher for a number of years after his prime. In fact, I remember Dotson as being the only pitcher who was as good in '84 as he was the previous year, up until the all star break at least. He was 11-4 w/2.64 era on July 4th and ended the season 14-15 w/3.59 era. Now, if you want to argue that the huge (for the time) contract he gave to Floyd Bannister, who outside of '83 was a huge disappointment...I could see that. But not Burns and Dot. Those guys were likable and had White Sox success to fall back on. Navarro was a signing that was going to get the Sox back in the thick of things. He came over from the cubs and sucked the life out of the organization...somewhat similar to Samardzija had he have been extended prior to last season after the Oakland trade. The White Flag is due in part to the Belle departure and Navarro's failing. This is something that still lingers with your 40 plus year old Sox fans.
  4. I would say the signing and subsequent performance of Jaime Navarro set JR back so much that it still impacts the manner in which he runs the team.
  5. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) 154 games, 13 HR, 60 RBI, 23 SB, .293 BA and a Gold Glove OF. Just wanted to take another look at Heyward's stats from last year. $200 mil. Wow!! I guess it truly is what the market is. I think his age is the big selling point but I think he is really being oversold as well.
  6. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) Well this should be great for the bench flexibility. This is like the Konerko farewell tour, except we have LaRoche there ...... Add in if we were somehow able to switch Melky to DH and then acquire an OF and keep Garcia as our 4OF? That's one ugly bench. LaRoche, Avila, Garcia ........ none have flexibility, and all are pretty awful. Yay! Avi can be placed in the minors if need be.
  7. I also pointed this out earlier, the price for Arrieta is a great unknown especially with Boras calling the shots.
  8. Avi is the dumbest base runner in the history of the game and a terrible defensive player. I don't care what any stat says. What Avi does in the batter's box is fine it what he does when the game is being played nad he is not in the batter's box that is troubling.
  9. For the cubs offseason moves and how the Chicago media can not praise them enough, at this point in time have they gotten that much better Would you trade Castro, Fowler and $10M for Lackey and Zobrist.....
  10. I was six when Star Wars came out. I remember seeing all the Star Wars, Jaws, Grease, Moonraker and the Blues Brothers in the movie/drive in. I still have boxes of toys and other stuff. Nothing really collectible it was all used for its intended purpose. I gave my kids an X wing fighter and they broke it within a week the rest remain in boxes....maybe my grand kids will be appreciative. My one kid also left a 24 year old A 2000 out in the rain, I got it refurbished and told him, enjoy your Sports Authority Rawlings piece of crap.
  11. Anyone think his defense may have suffered last year becasue the SS was god awful?
  12. Maybe Lawrie is similar to Colby Rasmus in that regard....Sox passing on Rasmus last off season turned out to be a mstake
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) To me, it seems like too much of a risk for the Cubs to get him. It's not like they need more offense. He is less riskier than the free agents though as he is only locked in for two years. If all they need to give up is Soler, I think it is a done deal.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:34 PM) So, I got off the phone with Directv, guess they are doing the standard increase of the bill each month so I have to threaten them dance. After they merged with AT&T their customer service did not do the dance and I pulled the plug and moved to AT&T....AT&T sucks and does not have customer support at all and I assume Direct TV will go this way as well. In 13 months everything is going to Comcast in my house which is sad because I love Direct TV. AT&T wireless is dial up compared to Comcast. My internet has gone back about 10 years after moving to AT&T. AT&T's telecommunications is not strong enough to support the demands. Another kicker for AT&T Uverse though is promoting package choices and then realizing yes I have Showtime but not Showtime in HD. The whole AT&T platform is set up to gouge and f*** over the consumer.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:20 AM) I'd be shocked if they didn't break it and I'm ok with GS doing instead of certain teams with certain players. Steve Kerr will have played on that Bulls team and hopefully is coaching the Warriors when they do it. Pretty incredible there
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 07:21 AM) Pretty much. Good chance he is wearing another uniform in 2016. Forgone conclusion at this point. Seems the team is tired of his act.
  17. Not to sound like a meathead but the value of Trayce in the Golden State Warrior part of the country adds to his appeal there and may generate some over valuation there Wonder what a Sonny Gray / Brett Lawrie package would consist of.
  18. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) Hahn has said no one is untouchable in a trade. Yet he has not moved anyone of note when the time was right. Never moving Ramirez was a bad move in hindsight. His return on Peavy is not looking all that great. The Santiago trade seems to be wash at best. The Davidson trade was a loss. This organization seems to be stagnating as they are building their farm system somewhat but to what the degree that it will benefit them moving forward...especially with positional players
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) Where you hearing this? Fathom convinces himself the cubs are going to sign every A flight player every off-season so that he feels better when it does not come through. All last season all we heard was Price to the cub...JS was going to go there to torment the Sox fans Signing Gordon would be a grave mistake for them which Lackey and Zobrist both were. They still need to figure out what Arrieta is going to make next year.
  20. QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) Who's the next starter in line for when Johan can't pitch? Danks would be in the rotation
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) After that Angels tweet, another one that they are talking about moving calhoun to RF for Heyward. Heyward Trout Calhoun....yiiikes Heyward's defense would be wasted in left field which is a good part of his attraction
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) I imagine Fulmer would be part of a deal among others. Rodon would be the main piece.
  23. There will be enough released to appease the community leaders and pin everything on the police way of doing things that Rahm will change going forward. You are very naive if you think this will shine negatively on the mayor or alderman. The mayor and alderman just threw out the self imposed watchdog who was trying to make changes and the media barely covered that story, to me that story shines a greater light on how poorly the city is run than the CPD.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:21 PM) The White Sox fan family lost a good one this morning when Chuck Siebel, who a lot of White Sox fans conversed with on Twitter, was killed in an automobile accident. His handle was @ThatChuck This is the tragic story of two dumbass teens drag racing and Chuck was in a car struck by one of the . He leaves a wife and two kids. We've set up a gofundme collection and we're going to donate to White Sox charities in his name when we are done. If interested in chipping in anything, the link is below. https://www.gofundme.com/2fdte88s Here is the story of the accident as well. It pisses me off. He was a good guy. Also loved Iowa State and Blackhawks. http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/7/71/1160...ag-racing-crash I saw that story about him, really really sad.
