  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) As the #4 hitter, you hope from more at the plate than a couple of flares to right field that drop in. Even when he's had hits of late, they've been extremely soft (been that way for about 3 months it seem). Would have been nice to see Rios bat in there somwhere. Also would have been nice to see Crain in this game when it mattered instead of Liriano.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Some of you need to STFU and enjoy the game. Waah, waaaah, waaah. Give me a break. There is nothing to enjoy when there are basic baseball decisions being completely screwed up. 14 hitters were retired in a row and then there are three hits and we kill all momentum by....bunting. Yet with the injured third baseman and Fister rolling, no bunts in two games......
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Burn him at the stake. You cant lose a baseball game and not be killed. you seriously find no fault with this "managing" in this game. he ended a rally single handidly by taking the bat of one of the best clutch hitter's on the team as he did last week as well. Somehow he is now falling in love with the f***ing bunt
  4. wow ventura really has become clueless and abysmal as a manager
  5. Anyone that thinks that the bullpen managing was anything other than horrific tonight especially,.....well I just don't know.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) I'd be stunned if he's not on the Dodgers next year. To his credit, it's no shock he's tiring down the stretch. Just an insane workload for him this season, and there were definitely opportunities to limit his pitch count in earlier starts. Peavy is the least of he worries on this team the inconsistent hitting is the issue and mind numbing bullpen moves are the issue.
  7. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) No more than 3 runs and ill be fine Valeverde is on their side Will be at least 5 when this inning finally ends. If Crain and Myers were available both should be ahead of Jones and Liriano should be nowhere near this game. Bunting......f***ing novel, we will continue to play for the home run.
  8. If Don Cooper is running the pitching staff I can see why he and guillen may not get along. If liriano can not start you do not bring him out of the pen in a one run ball game I gotta say this bullpen management is getting worse by the day. All that being said getting fisted by fister, 14 in a row retired, is the reason thsi game is the way it is.
  9. 11 in a row retired by Fister Thsi game has ntohign to do with Peavy he was fine. The inability to get base runners home for the last three games is where my frustration is.
  10. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Oh a team who was picked to finish NO WHERE near the top of the division this year is struggling to take full command of the division??? They have been in first for how long this season? but some of you just pretend like they should have won over 100 already haha They will be fine. I thought they had a pretty good team so yes I think they should be playing better. That is where the frustration comes from. Wise runs there he may have gotten on.
  11. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) I would say he lacks swing and miss stuff but he does have 9 Ks, 8 swinging. That was what I was kind of thinking. Two really good hitters squared him up and they found some holes.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) No reason to be excited about anything White Sox. So, they are in first place in the middle of September. They suck. The players suck, the manager sucks, the announcers suck. The geniuses are on this board telling you exactly what should have been. They were waiting for Peavy to give up some runs just so they could pop of all the choke garbage, just like they were waiting for AJ to have a positive test to blast him. I really don't know why a lot of Sox fans choose to be miserable during a surprise season with the team in first place. They are being handed a division and are struggling to play well.
  13. The Tigers have hit 35 foul balls tonight the White Sox have hit 7. I do nto know if tht means anythign but it just seemd that the Tigers made Jake work while the Sox are not making Fister work.
  14. Peavy did a decent job. The Detroit offense is scuffling and he struggled to throw strikes all night and is sitting at 95 pitches through 5. He needed a better outing. The issue though is the offense is lifeless once again. Fister looks to be able to got at least 7 and turn it over to the bullpen.
  15. Ok if you are going to throw everything on the outter half to Cabrera you better miss away. I could have crushed that pitch. May want to throw inside at least once. he just missed the same pitch in that last at-bat. A decent inning with the bat may help as Jake is good for maybe one more.
  16. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) Jake looking good through 2. Although using quite a bit of pitches. Its still ALL GOOD First swing and miss of the game to get Jhonny
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) Don't power hitting teams do better in the playoffs in general? I thought there was a stat that no homerun champion has ever won a world series? Doesn't address your question but I remember the cards in the early 80's having one guy Jack Clark.
  18. Dwayne Wise...that Ichiro trade paying huge dividends for the White Sox
  19. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) I'll be happy when the public sector unions are gone. Teachers are the only real detriment as the numbers are high, the early retirement and life expectancy while retired. Being a cop or fireman literally takes years off of your life, teachers, I am not sure.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) It doesn't say that extra instructional time is on the existing teachers' workload. I think that time is for the new art/music/foreign language teachers who are supposed to be hired. It does say the existing teachers time at school is lengthened by 85 minutes, which according to that site is for additional prep time and professional development, which supposedly they're currently doing at home. That is exactly how I understood it. They are at school longer hours but it is not spent with students. Instead of having to take this work home they do it in school while the students are at a new curricula session. Instead of working through lunch and leaving 45 minutes early, they are now forced to take the lunch. The educational accomplishment guaranteed pay increase are another item all together. If I get my MBA my current employer is not obligated to increase my pay because of it. The benefits package is a whole other issue unto itself.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Huh? So you're saying teachers should only get paid for the time that they are literally in the classroom teaching? Are you required to do administrative tasks for your job on your own time and dime? You reconcile your expense reports over the weekend without getting paid? I just want to know additional responsibilities are associated with now working a 7.5 hour workday?
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 12:14 PM) Man, there is a lot of uninformed B.S. in here, and out there on social media. Regardless of where you stand on this, let's clarify some things people keep missing... 1. I keep seeing people mention the fact that the teachers want a 16% raise, while private industry founders, and how that is just whining and being spoiled, etc. This is so thick with falsehood it is hard to know where to start. First, a lot of people seem to forget that the extended school day means teachers are working 20%+ more hours - so a 16% raise is still an actual step DOWN in pay per hour. And oh by the way, the extended school day that will cost more money (salaries and other effects) was NOT the union's idea, it was the city's. Second, it completely ignores that both the CTU and the City officials are BOTH saying, salary isn't even the key issue here. But the money numbers are easy to throw around in some shallow attempt at discourse, so, lazy wins the day. Then there's the fact that private industry by nature is going to have lows AND highs economically, with huge opportunity for both. So where are the teacher bonuses when things go well? I mean, if they should suffer when others do, why aren't they also getting some of the success when things are going well? Can't have it both ways. How much of this longer workday is spent instructing students?
