2012 AL Pennant Chase
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:09 AM) I'm looking at the AL East race and thinking that the Yankees are the best matchup for the Sox in the ALDS. Am I crazy? I know the White Sox have struggled against Buck over the years but I like the O's as the best Sox matchup.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) Yep, the first one in his last 19 appearances!!!!! It would have been nice if he had also struck someone out, instead of allowing two guys to smoke balls on the line to right, in almost exactly the same spot. Fortunately, Rios was standing right there. However, at least he didn't give us all one of his typical "heart stopping" finishes. Last night his job was to throw strikes and get the hell out of there. He did both. He did not have any swing and misses which for a closer is not what you want to see. Yes the first two hits were smoked.

Sox vs Tigers... The Final Countdown!!!!
Gotta pitch Reed no other options. He needs to be ready no closer non-closer situation bulls***.

Sox vs Tigers... The Final Countdown!!!!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Hopefully that is it. Still strange to not see any of them up in a situation like this. Myers included, or even Reed for the four out save. Robin is literally trusting the 10th guy out of the pen in Omo. For one batter Myers or Crain were the better option unless they are hurt.

Sox vs Tigers... The Final Countdown!!!!
No problem with Veal but not using Myers or Crain for one batter is a bad decision there. One again Robin's looking like he is not sure what to do with the bullpen.

CTU is Going on Strike
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) There is a huge correlation between the socioeconomic status of the parents and the performance of the kids in school. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the single biggest factor in determining the average outcome of a population of students. Thus, if you tell me that the population of students is performing vastly below average, but its from a group that is economically disadvantaged, I'm not surprised. The next question then is...how are they performing when you control for socioeconomic status? You could have the best group of teachers in the world, but if they're put into a district where 90% of the population qualifies for reduced price meals, the overall results on average will look poor, because the greatest teachers in the country will be swamped out by socioeconomic status compared to an area with a more average income distribution. I'd like to see that variable controlled for so that I can judge that performance level. Taking student performance out of the equation they are still grossly overcompensated in my mind. I ma not talking just salary but the whole benefits package of teachers in the state of Illinois is bloated.

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) I am embarrassed that Bears fans needed to be told to shut up. Common f***ing sense, if your QB has to take a timeout because he cannot hear the playcall because of his own crowd noise, something is wrong At some point people need to realize that Chicago sports fans are f***ing stupid for the most part 1. Bears fans can not realize that cheering loudly when your team is about to call a play is not smart 2. cubs fans blindly following that s***show 3. bulls fans who continued to show up when the team sucked (late 90's until about 4 years ago) 4. White Sox fans that do not show up to support a winning product I think the Fire has kind of got it right.

Robin Ventura....not sure what to think right now that managing right there would have made guillen proud. Jose Lopez..............

Game Thread 9/7
I really wish the White Sox would get a manger that use statistics instead of the seat of their pants to manage. The bottom fo the 8th was an embarassment. If Kw was pissed after Detroit he just watched his manager look like an absolute fool. As for Coop, he does some things good but is equally as bad at others. Disreagarding pitch count and innings, seriously. Now Johnson for Flowers...just keeps getting worse, neither has a shot but Flowers is more likely to muscle one out.

Robin Ventura is choking in the pennant race. If Detroit was not obvious it is becoming so now. Lopez batting second? Really The last inning was embarrassing and now the poor use of the bullpen. Now we will get to see Reed give up 5 here. Sadly Myers should close but there are money issues there.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) I hate seeing Reed here. Should have been Myers, as let's face it, Reed's barely surviving out there of late. No doubt whatsoever. This is terrible managing. I like Reed but he is treading on thin ice every outing. The Royals flew in late last night and the Sox had 48 hours off. pathetic.

Manager needs to put the players in positions to succeed. Ventura is failing miserably at this and has done so most of the year. You do not give up Ramirez to get to beckham.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) Steve Stone thinks outside of the box so much, that if he wanted to return his thoughts to the store, they wouldn't let him because he very clearly removed them from inside the box. Stone was very vocal about that and not testing cabrerra last week.

9/6 Games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) He's also having a much superior year than Almora. shut your mouth, no way that is possible. You get updates in Chicago media on Almora, I am not joking.

The Washington Nationals Thread
One part of this I never thought of is what if they win it all with out him. I would assume the feeling would not be the same knowing you are completely healthy and did nothing to help your team in the playoffs. The flip of that is what do the other players think if you lose?

2012 MLB Catch All thread
QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 03:07 AM) I agree. I had had to watch the O's broadcast of the Sox-O's one game. Listening to Thorne call the game was a pleasure. He was good with the Sox back in the day

2012 Cubs thread
MLBN ripped the cubs apart on this. I assume there may be a bigger back story as swinging 3-0 in a 7-2 game in the bottom of the 5th seems fine to everyone with a brain. Like the Bryce Harper quote.

AJ Did Not Test Positive; No Story Here
This is great message board stuff the problem is journalists used message board stuff as fact which is why this was discussed on the SCORE with Don Cooper instead of hearing about Gavin Floyd's recovery. This started on a tigers message board and went from there.
