  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) What makes you say Quintana is on an innings count? Age although I am not certain what his minor league numbers are.
  2. He and Chris Sale are on innings count so put Sale on a limit and have Quintana finish the game. Welcome to 21st century baseball.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) I'm guessing his educational background is pretty similar to Ozzie's. I know 8 year olds that understand the concept very well and some that have no grasp of it what so ever. There is something more than education going on there.
  4. If nothing else he will be on the mlbn highlight reel forever. That trevisio sounded like a douche. Hawkins has some personality.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) I'd give them the rest after the break so they're both in the Detroit series, like 4th and 5th after the break. They could go Floyd-Humber-Danks-Peavy-Sale after the break. There just aren't a lot of off days after the break to skip guys, so they should look more at matchups. You want Floyd to face Detroit and you want Danks to avoid Detroit. The rest is all a crap shoot.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:09 AM) 36-72 for SI's prediction. I still can't believe people had them winning under 70 games. I didn't expect 90+ wins, but this was easily around a .500 team, not a 90+ loss team. I thought they would be about 78-84 wins and if things broke right it could be interesting.
  7. Now you can hear on the radio how they are overusing him due to the high pitch counts not taking into account all of the off days. Nice win.
  8. Loving the media attention being paid to the cubs prospects and now the cubs draft yet I never hear what the Sox are looking to do. The fabrication of crap to try and keep the cubs relevant is nauseating.
  9. One thing Hawk pointed out that is true about this year that the White Sox seemed to struggle with in the past is to foul off good pitches as opposed to weakly putting them into play.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) Ken Harrelson - "Dayan Viciedo is a stronger version of Paul Konerko." That comparison makes zero sense. None. He can turn on an inside fastball just as quickly and has greater opposite field power along with the ability to take outside pitches to right side as opposed to rolling them over to the left side of the infield. Typical hawk hyperbole but not exactly zero sense.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:11 PM) I think they saw something about Rizzo last year they really didn't like. That is fine but hey basically gave him away.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:29 AM) That's definitely true about Bernstein. I think Terry's age has caught up with him (kinda like Hawk). Occasionally there will be a discussion where Terry will say something intelligent that shows you why has been kept around for so long. Then all of a sudden he will yell "By Cracky!" and then so much for that momoent. Call them up and ask the win expectancy of the White Sox for the playoffs today and then ask them to stop thinking everything can be rationalized through numbers. They cannot wait for the Sox to lose so they can put down every fan that had hope to start this season. They like that Len & Bob talk about advanced metrics. I watch the game and have a computer on. I do not need Hawk to tell me what Dunn's OPS or Floyd's FIP is, I have that in front of me. The fans that care about advanced metrics know them and that is a minority as compared to those that are listening for Hawk to be Hawk. I watched the game with my kids last night and we all got a kick out of it. That is eactly what I wanted to say and do. B&B never played hockey and because there is no tangible way of proving that fighting settles anything, they will tell you unquestionably that you are wrong if you think there is benefit. Same with throwing at a batter. Serves no purpose yet every team does it. Don Copper is an idiot because he does not express his opinions concise enough for them. That show has gotten down to the point where the advanced metrics takes place over everything. Oh and they also believe that professional basketball is very entertaining, why, because they say so. Say otherwise and you are a fool.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) Umm...yeah...I've been saying since last year that if we can get these guys turned around we had plenty of talent to contend... I would say the board was 50/50, with the non-contending 90 loss folks trumpeting how bad the farm system is and how everything needs to be blown up. The glass half full guys really needed to hope things for Dunn, Rios, Peavy etc. would turn around and that Ventura would be the relief the team needed from the asshat that ran the team last year. Hope v. Reality and hope is winning today but it is a long season.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) For those that missed Hawk's epic explosion. That is a passionate Sox fan right there. I think Wimpy feared for his safety. I would love to hear him on the plane ride home. Quintana with some major points today.
  15. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 30, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) Why did Quintana only go 3.2? If you have time read the game thread.
  16. Scorekeepers discretion on the win. Should have given to Quintana that was BS. f*** Tampa
  17. Working all day left the old White Sox game thread open to follow. Thanks for the info. Payback is a b**** in the name of a sweep. I thought Tampa had more class than that. 1.5 up off day to relax.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) Then I disagree with the decision by Ventura It is a hell of a lot better though than letting Delmon treat the Sox like his b**** and never getting retaliated against. The Rays were retaliating against a dirty play. The umps knew it and that was that. To then throw at Zobrist especially in a close game is dumb. The Rays seem to be a fine team this is not like the Showalter BS.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) You have to fight back at some point. Beckham got drilled; AJ got drilled. Tank is a hitting machine. Nice RBI Lexi. The Ryas fought back from a dirty slide in your world the game would never end as it would be HBP, HBP, HBP,.......
  20. The guy from the Jays that was ejected over the weekend was worse.
  21. Aj spikes a guy Aj gets hit Aj spikes a guy again Throw at a guy while you are winning, really dumb, really dumb. Wins and pitching are precious. Quintana was on a roll and was looking good.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) Who? Who what? twins reporter on Boers & Bernstein Orlando Cabrera Julio Cruz
  23. remember the Twins writer that was hating on Hudson, I wonder if he had him confused with Orlando Cabrerra. Can Hudson be the 2011, Julio Cruz?
  24. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 30, 2012 -> 12:49 PM) Speaking of Q, did anyone see old Q hit a HR yesterday at Wrigley? God, he looks so strong when he is belting homeruns. Could you imagine the power this team would have with Q in the OF instead of De Aza? for the two weeks he is healthy, I'll pass. Who leads off?
  25. Was watching CSN last night and hoping for some more Sox coverage as MLBN had the Yanks on and ESPN was covering something silly. What do I get to see. A 5 minute piece on Brett Jackson. So I am thinking he is having a great year and he Castro and Rizzo are on the cusp of greatness. After this piece up come the stats....I would not be in to big of a hurry to bring up Brett Jackson. Still makes me ill that the lowly Padres gave the cubs Rizzo.
