QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) Amazing what happens when you don't throw Duncan a fastball. Big out here against Choo. Which is why reed should have been in the game yesterday. I am not sure why other teams will over use their pen yet all we hear is how overworked the sox pen is. If Stewart and Jones are not going to be used send them down.

Sox can not take advantage of opportunities and the opponent has gotten the big hits all season long. I thought sale was the closer? Ventura or whoever is in charge of the pen needs to realize that matches can be helpful.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) And of course, the screaming title, drama queen, jump off of the Skyway Bridge thread reaction. CHECK. It is like clockwork though. The one thing I will say, this team gives themselves chances in the 9th. It would be better if there were actual bench players hat could play. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) Ventura should have scattered it so AJ was in the lineup in one game and Konerko playing in the other one. My guess is konerko is hurting a little. -

Escobar, Morel and Lillibridge have no business being in the majors right now. One of them is fine but the other two need to be sent down. You need some sort of productivity from your bench. -

When a team can not score runs the bullpen will always have to shut a team down and that is impossible to do every time out there. -

Bet the Sox score one run and get two guys on for Beckham to K or ground into a DP to end it. -

Quintana nice work, would be nice to win a slugfest but I guess he most you could ask for from this team is 5 runs. -

Looking at the holt/cold zone for alex rios. On balls thrown right down the middle he is hitting .182, nice. -

Rios pops out on the infield almost as much as Joe Crede and while Beckham may be adding something to this lineup recently he still strikes out way to often. the last two at-bats yesterday were abysmal as was the at-bat last inning. -

Is there really an improvement to this team if Lillibridge replaces Morel? -

Amazing how the indians were struggling to hit homers and the Sox righted that wrong from them last week. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) Fukudome, of course, is 5/27 against RHP. Hawk says he has smoked everything right at someone. -
Sounds like Quintana stays and Stults is just for the doubleheader.
-
I just hope this team will realize Thorton can not finish a game. Would also like for the Sox to win a game like that it seems think that happens once a year and it already has happened three times to them this year.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) LaHair looks pretty damn good for the Cubs. Theo will likely trade him to an AL team at the deadline. Also never thought Samardjiza would be as good of a starter as he's looked this year. Sample size. Morning radio abuzz this morning about how Garza and Samardjiza are the building blocks of the future. The team is at least another full season away from anything and at which time Garza and Sam will become expensive and age risks. The team has no power at all.

Stults or Axelrod could start in doubleheader

With he LHH in Cleveland you need to go with a leftie, no? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) You realize that you just responded to a pair of statistically significant studies saying that there is a huge increase in the rate of depression directly associated with concussions with one anecdote saying "no there isn't", right? The U of M study noted above seems to indicate that football players suffer the same rate of depression as normal populace. Am I reading that wrong? Regardless of the outcome I think it is really safe to assume that football players are gambling on their health and livelihood and are doing so by choice. It could be the concussions or massive amounts of other crap along with crashing into other large individuals and steroids that is causing this.

Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Stults should get the opportunity and if he does well, Will Ohman can be traded or shown the old DFA door. I liked Stults before he was injured serviceable leftie. His starting seems odd after the surgery but who am I to judge. -
Baltimore is 15-9 Go Beckham
