The meathead in me thinks, go with fuk against his old team against the slider pitcher I do not think dyan is a good fit

Smallest crowd for any crosstown game. 34k interesting

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) And I made the point that the Sox have been on the other side of this plenty this year too, putting the screws to guys who had been extremely hot this year. Not that you care but the .200 hitting beckham evened this out for me and I can now move on with the season.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 18, 2012 -> 05:14 PM) Robin is likeable, but the previous manager was as well. The previous manager rode in a parade in Chicago with a trophy as well. Staring down Rogers is stupid though. The question had to be asked. It's not Rogers' fault. Did you actually see the exchange. He was waiting for the next question.

Ah Lilly make him work a little.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) This might be too big of a stage for Jones. I actually would have preferred Thornton to stay in with LaHair batting 2nd this inning. Thorton did well, would have been the safe bet

When your organizational moments of greatness are as limited as the cubs are, this is what you get. Think theo is reading the Rickettes manifesto and wondering what and the hell he has gotten himself into?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) He's hitting .238 with a .707 OPS in May. There's an 0/14 stretch in there that really hurts his "past few weeks" numbers. He is making solid contact though which is a plus. Kind of hawkerish but it is true unlike Morel and Beckham and Dunn last year. Wells robbed him yesterday as well.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Better get Thornton in to face DeJesus. Won't he face Reed Johnson who will hit some sort of douchebag type cub thing to take the lead?

Is Jimmy Piersell still alive?
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) no one on, 2 outs, and he is at like 70 pitches or so 60 pitches. You want DeAza to lead off the 8th anyway so Humber's at-bat was irrelevant.

This game has LaHair home run off of Thorton written all over it.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) Ok, so I just thought of something funny. What if Samardzija comes up to bat, Humber gets an 0-2 count, and then AJ wants tons of curveballs in the dirt so if he swings and misses and has to run to 1st, AJ just throws a strike to the back of his head. That would be kind of interesting. I said something about AJ someone getting into the mix somehow. Just the meathead in me. Beat the f***s and call it a day.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) And if he is out, you lose him, and Humber. If Konerko is out the White Sox just became about as interesting as the cubs. While I do not have delusions of grandeur I still look at the standings and watch the games and hope for something good to happen. Having to watch Dan Johnson play first does not make me want to watch the White Sox until next April.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Understand this. You lose your starting pitcher for this game, plus a start or two due to suspension. You have Zach Stewart pitch 4-5 innings here, plus have to call up a minor leaguer to fill in for the suspension. Not defending Greg but if you lose Konerko for this season the rest of your statement is irrelevant. The guy is becoming an icon with how good of a hitter and person he has become. If he played on the northside he would be the biggest thing since Ryno up there if not bigger.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Who said anything about career ending? As of now he has a cut under his eye. Didn't that end Kirby Puckett's career?
-
I could see AJ try and drag a bunt to first to try and get into a "situation" at first with the pitcher covering.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) No, I mean why are you listening to teh Cubs broadcast? That was my point. Even at the onset if you like Len and Bob this is all Hawk now.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Why? Even if you do not like Hawk, for these series he is money and then after his second favorite player next to Catfish got hit you knew it would be television gold.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Samarjia now talking s*** from the dugout and the sheep have their new demigod
-
Guys do not get hit in the head with a slider.. It may have been off speed but when you miss with a slider it either hangs or is low and away it is never up and in. No matter whether there was intent or not Samajaf*** ran his mouth as now he is the new Kerry Wood and wants the minion to cheer his every move. You hit Bryan LaHair if the Sox were warned for no reason that is bs.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 18, 2012 -> 12:52 PM) Le sigh. Why aren't you worried about Rios getting hurt then? or Beckham? or Paulie? or AJ? or Viciedo? or Humber? or Escobar? or Alexei? Comfort zone of their settings. Dunn has not played there in a while and therefore will not be comfortable which increases in my mind the exposure to something bad happening.
-
I think the minion cub fans decided at the convention that the only real shot to take at he White Sox is the old attendance thing again.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) There is a massive difference between those guys. Escobar has 14 career homers in 6 seasons in the minors. Raburn had 14 for Detroit last year. Peralta hit 21 last year. Morel has 13 homers in his major league career. Even in the minors his high was 16 at A ball. I'd be pretty f***ing thrilled if either of those guys put up anything resembling Pujols, Raburn, and Peralta. The point that I was trying to make was that the White Sox have had some odd situations this year where struggling players burned them not that Brent Morel and Pujols are the same player. If you read it that way and want to continue to read it that way fine I'll agree with you. Albert Pujols is better than Eduardo Escobar. Albert Pujols had one home run and struggled all year. I said before the series that he and Hunter would combine for 2 homers and 5 RBI. They almost did. I did not mean it as a shot to anything but the White Sox seem to have an uncanny ability to have that happen.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) You realize you just put Brent Morel and Eduardo Escobar in the same vein as Albert Pujols, Ryan Raburn, and Perralta? Pujols no but the other two sure. The other two have one home run and they were game changing home runs this year that is all I am saying. When Escobar and Morel do that, than I will be at peace with the situation.
