QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:30 AM) CSNChi_Beatnik Brett Ballantini Coop said he asked Omar if he wanted to play in today's finale and Omar declined. Said that in the press conference last night. -
Ozzie Guillen Released from Contract

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) Honestly I think it shows that the media just loves Ozzie. He is a dream come true for them. He generates stories for them, he generates quotes for them, and he treated them well. Losing Ozzie makes their jobs a lot tougher because they all know the next person to come in will not nearly be as valuable to them as Oz was. It appears to me though that the media is really making guillen look bad but it could be much worse. I think everyone (well almost everyone) agrees his time had run out. The things that made guillen a good manager are gone. If he finds these qualities in Miami he will succeed. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) I hope he has a similar write up when KW is finally shown the door. guillen was not shown the door he left and quit on his team two with two games left. he cut a deal with Florida and strong armed JR his "father figure"to let him go. guillen at the end of the day was all about money and left the White Sox the same way he did in the late 90's like some spoiled ass child that thinks everyone owes him something The fact that nobody even cares to bring this up in the media shows that it was time for him to go and nobody really cares -
Imagine for a second you were Bartman and you were involved in this and it was the White Sox........ I turned the game off and was watching NYPD Blue. Got a call and I thought it was to say baseball as a sport has ended for me.....to my surprsie the caller said, "watching your boy Sipowitz?".....my reply "yep"..... caller"you may want to turn the game on, it is epic".......my reply after turning it on, "thanks mom"....... I think the cubs were so caught up it from the media that they felt the other team was almost going to let them win and that they were entitled to it. I think that carried over to the Lou years.

Playoffs begin today. What an awesome ending. Uncle bud looks like the fool (see a few pages back in this thread) Tony loves Edwin Jackson. Jackson said he would like to resign there...that helps the Mark resigning.

Maddon has proven to be the brightest manager in baseball. MLB Network did a good piece on him and the s*** he does during a games makes guillen look like a buffoon. Luck is involved most of the time but with good information luck has a way of finding its way to the more prepared team.

Listening to the post game press conference with he and Cooper made me kind of glad that guillen was gone. That game played out perfectly from the vintage Buehrle pitching performance through the on field tribute. The coolest thing was the team not taking the field and allowing he and Cooper to have a moment. The on-field interview with Hawk was intense as well and then the press conference where you could feel the admiration that Cooper has for Buehrle. Decent crowd as well.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) Thing is, Marlins could very well go after someone like Reyes. I hope Marlins do go after some big name free agents, as the White Sox won't be pursuing those guys so I'd rather have the best players stay in the NL (as long as they don't sign with the Cubs). The talk was about them going after Fielder. Still do not think it matters that division will be really tough for the next couple of years and I do nto think guillen is a good enough game day manger to win in that division. when the Phils are aged the Nats will be coming of age. -
Do you want to install some good will and overshadow Ozzie to Sox fans. Sign him to an extension this afternoon Mr. Rick Hahn.

Buddy Bell took his current job because he did not want to manage. If Martinez, McEwing or Alomar get the job they better have a veteran baseball guy as a bench coach. That may be a good role for Buddy Bell.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) Cowley is going to be on WSCR shortly. He was on at 7:30 as well. He had nothing to say other than he was ahead of the story in January of 2010 as he knew it would end this way. If the Sox play to their potential this season, it does not end this way. Guillen did not want to be here and the Florida thing could be epic especially if Zambrano ends up down there. The Phils and Braves will be tough and if the Mets clean themselves up and the Nats youth get better...may be a tough ride down on south Florida. I like Dave Martinez and he will be every teams #1 candidate. He has a history with the Sox so that should bode well. One of Guillen's downfalls was not having a stronger bench coach after Nossek left. I also look for the hitting coach to hopefully impact the team like Walt Hriniak (sp?) did. Laker and Martinez have crossed paths I believe. -

I find the fact that Jay Cutler can not move out of the pocket very frustrating. -
Coop gets a good amount of praise because his predecessor was abysmal. You can not complain about the staff results as a whole under Cooper especially compared to Walker.

Tuesday evening Mark Buehrle can become with 1.2 innings of work the first AL pitcher to throw 11 consecutive seasons of 200IP in the DH era. That will define his career, a model of consistency. No video game s*** like Wood, Prior, Clemens or Pedro. Just pure enjoyment every 5th day...well 6th day this year. His accomplishments also include Perfect Game No-hitter MLB Home run World Series Save 2 gold gloves Endless threads on whether he is an ace All around good guy as evidenced by the fact that he catches the first pitch. The thing that makes that special is the person that is throwing the pitch gets to throw it to Mark Buehrle (or John Danks) which makes that experience memorable. I excluded the crap that the cubs would throw in there to pretend he was good like faced 27 batters in complete game shutouts 3 times more than any pitcher in baseball history.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Yup... I didn't see the guys get drilled until tonight....but damn! that was bs. I agree. I also did not see Tuesday but the replay showed that those were not Carlos Quentin type HBP's. Hawk was vocal about it and I gotta say it really says something about this team and probably organization as a whole. Whether it was control or intentional you still need to make a point as these games mean nothing and then when they are winning 8-2 it makes it even easier.

The series when Detroit took 3 of 4 in mid-August down there ended the Sox hopes and therefore I want the Rays to suffer

Alejandro De Aza continues to play very steady ball
Harry Chappas replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The only thing that there is worry about with De Aza v. The Juan Dog is health which is why he is not in his third full season at the MLB level. The talent (compared to Juan) is there and anyone that can not see that is not paying attention or only follow The World According to Ozzie where the 4 hopper to second is what you want from your lead-off man. Juan's work ethic is why he is still on the roster and most likely what got him here. -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) Even better article than Ballatini's basically saying Indians and Twins might be hitting or at least pitching inside to Sox hitters as part of game strategy. http://www.southsidesox.com/ This is a great blog. I forgot about Beckham anything think there could be a lingering affect there.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) After re-reading that quote, you could really interpret it as a religious shot at a whole swath of people. It could be viewed as antisemitic but with the broken english there is no way of knowing what the hell he is talking about.

Chicago White Sox @ Cleveland Indians, GAME 1.

I did not even know they were playing......... -
I bet the cubs f*** the cardinals up The cards should easily go 7-2 at worst.

The thing about a pitcher. If said pitcher can be 20 games over .500 in the games that pitcher starts, the team is 35-15, the rest of the pitching need only be built to play .500 ball and your team wins 91 games.
-
On August 1st Adam Dunn should have been put on the DL with a slight knee strain. He was historically bad and the thing that made it worse.....he with the damn DH. Morel and Beckham assisted in keeping the pitching afloat. The failings of Rios and Dunn killed this team because of the money they made.
