QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_cws Contract year. Anyone hear Hawk talking about Whitey Herzog last night. I thought that was good stuff right there. I bet you Hawk is watching other games on his ipad other than the Sox

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) It was McCuddy's FWIW. that was part of my point....folks sitting at the bar tend to not know what they are talking about. Expand your horizions and visit a tavern out in Chesterton or something. They will tell you all about he "@#$%#$ owner"

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) He's certainly someone with a vendetta against Reinsdorf. I don't believe I'm exaggerating when I say that 90% of his posts are in regards to JR, and in an extremely negative light. He reminds me of those old guys you might see at a bar who blame everything on the "Jew" owner. he is still ticked they did not rebuild McGillicuddy's....well they did finally but call it Bacardi at the Park and it took over 20 years to do so.

I find it odd how coaches really think those games mean anything. The blocked punt was a 4th and 1 from the 49 with 40 seconds left. Why not go for it? Also what is the purpose of kicking 20 yard field goals? That was another time I thought they should have gone for it. If Knox played like Williams last night, he would be out the door. Williams excuses are not even viable. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) Thornton is the most interesting waiver candidate the Sox have. Question is if he were to go on waivers and a team claimed him, but didn't offer the value in return you thought he was worth, do you make the trade anyway to get rid of the contract or do you wait for the offseason? I'd be tempted to make the trade now instead of waiting because $12M owed to a setup man is probably a thing of the past in today's ecomomy. He and Santos are cheap when taken in account together. The Sox have some good cheap arms coming along which will keep the bullpen cost down as well. Foolish to give him away for nothing.

The Chen and Carmona games killed the home stand. Could have been 7-2 instead will be 5-4 story of the season

I follow our minors through this site and never recall hearing the name Josh Kinney.

Is till think the problem with the cubs was john mcdonough's involvement in player decisions. I think his mo was to attract fans not wins and forced this issue on Hendry whether it was soriano, pinella or whatnot.

If the Sox can take two this weekend they are in good shape as the Tigers 4 gamer in Tampa is a tough lookign series. This thing never stops going round and round.

Let's hope the baseball stupid subsides for 40 games. I was at the game last night and could only imagine how many time Hawk said you gotta make Carmona get it up. they swung at about 10 to 15 balls that were in the dirt. In a season of pathetic offensive outputs last night was right up there as the worst. Big game and they blew it with as listless of a performance as a team could have. Why let Lucy bat to start the 8th with Lillibridge and Rios on the bench??? Let's hope for a good one tonight. Not to mention a real nice crowd lot of freebies. Upperdeck was about 80% full. The scene after the bottom of the 8th was incredible it literally looked like somebody yelled fire. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) We can't afford to have Lucy be Dunn-like at the plate. I hope he can get some hits. Didn't Lucy have a nice little run early last year and have a big game in I think Toronto?

check out the pitch counts for this game 3 Indian relievers threw less than 10 pitches. Their pen will be fine tomorrow. The Sox, not so much.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:35 AM) Is this what the other 42 are like? I certainly hope not Nice job Frasor and Juan maybe Dunn learned something watching for the last 3 hours

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) That was a brutal decision not to walk him. It's not like you're going to strike him out. I disagree De Aza has more power to hit the deeper fly. There is a good chance Pierre grounds to the drawn in infield.

My kids were watching a movie so I watched the game on-line and via Soxtalk until the 7th and then watched the game when they went to bed live. I put the movie back on and watched the 14th on Soxtalk. You guys owe me.
