  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) And just like that, Baltimore's back in the game. You can't let some terrible player like Josh Bell hurt you. Josh Bell.....my assumption is there is no advance scouting on him How do players that the Sox have never faced seem to kill them whether a pitcher or a hitter.
  2. George McCaskey on the SCORE this morning said that the Bears medical staff is the reason there is not turf in Soldier Field......
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) It's not even on the same planet as that of Rios and Dunn and Peavy Not even close peavy only has a year left though
  4. That Ramirez ab was typical took a hanger check swing foul on a pitch inside than fooled on a breaking ball for a weak grounder
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) 3 runs won't be enough to win this game. Blackburn really sucks. Even the Sox are going to get to him.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) I wrote them a similar letter about why I wasnt going to renew my 10th year of season tickets. I cannot see eye to eye with an organization that cannot run itself properly. I am not renewing my full plan which I have had since I converted a 27 gamer mid-season 2000. My guess is their ticket folks f***ed up by holding tickets back fro cubs, Boston and NY when they went on sale for full season and ozzie plan folks. My ticket guy has called me twice. I left him a message basically saying there is no longer any interest on my part to spend $9,000 on tickets to watch a team that has no interest in being out there and has a baseball IQ lower than most of the season ticket holders and that is not hyperbole.
  7. From Elias: Yankees pitchers did not walk a batter in the series against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The Yankees are only the third team in modern major-league history (i.e., since 1900) to issue no walks while sweeping a four-game series. The Red Sox turned that trick in both previous instances: against the White Sox in 1968 (August 5-8), and versus Washington in 1905 (June 29-July 3). This is what needs to change with the White Sox. The White Sox have faced the least amount of pitches in baseball. The scouting reports that the ozeroo pays no attention too will tell the opposition what they need to do. Throw high fastballs and off speed pitches off the corner and they will swing away. This team does not take good strikes nor do they foul a tough pitch off. You can take a slider on the black at the knees for strike one or two. That stat is disgusting.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) I got a call today from my ticket rep. She wanted to know if everything was OK. Really? They called me twice. I told them we would not be renewing. Playoff invoices should be out in a week or two.
  9. Tigers have 1st and 3rd and nobody out. Somehow they run into a DP with the runner out at home and second. Sox would even find that hard to do.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) Quade's going to go down as one of the worst coaches/managers to ever lead a Chicago team. How does he compare to Bevington in your mind? Lance Lynn looks good
  11. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) Don't stop now boys!
  12. Frasor (5 man rotation) allows the pen a whole new inning of work.
  13. This right here is the epitome of the White Sox. No clue what to do against an offspeed pitcher. Changing a batter or two will not be the difference. Really nothing Floyd can do.
  14. Seems to me that this whole thing has taken them by surprise almost like the decision makers are all on vacation
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) Is that a joke? I mean, the picture is so small that I may be wrong, but that doesn't even look like it's Frank. And that is a terrible choice of stance for the statue. Seriously, his statue should be identical to the Baines one but RH. That looks like a bad golf swing.
  16. So at the grand old age of 25, 30 and 32 she was discriminated against.... Just from reading this. At age 25 and one year on the job she was passed over for a manager of partnerships position.......ok Then at the ripe old age of 30 and 32 she was passed up for a senior management position........ok Sounds like her father/attorney has some free time on his hands.
  17. Tigers go to TB in late August. That is a huge series.
  18. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Then why is Kenny trying to move him? If Kenny THINKS he will actually become productive hitter again then why dangled him when his value is at the most absurdly low? This isn't about what I think...it's what the hell is Williams doing. He goes all out to get Dunn...tried to trade for him last year, finally bags him as a f-agent then watches Dunn look like a complete waste for four months of baseball and then gets the grand idea to DANGLE HIM.... I've seen more clever shenanigans in a hack fantasy league. KW "dangles" every play on his roster every single day and why not? Who do you think he has not talked about trading? He would be a fool to not try and see what it would take to move Dunn. Same with Santos, Sale, Konerko, Ramirez, etc.
  19. What is the point of the save stat unless you are going to free agency or arbitration? Is OG trying to screw over all of the fantasy sports owners?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) I hope they didn't talk about a player like that, because that would be really bad on Tony's part. Why? LaRussa said worse in the media. You think JR if he talks to TL couldn't ask about the personality of this kid and also see what is going on in Jackson's head.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) I heard the part on Sale. They said everything they were doing with him was in anticipation of him being a starter in the future. or in two weeks when they go to the six man rotation for a start or two......
  22. Thought I would bump. as there are 10 pages when he hung up. Coop was on this morning and I only heard the first ten minutes but it was very good (damn work had to get out of the car). Basically he said they knew Peavy was out of gas but they had no options based on the innings logged in previous days by the pen. They also want him to build up arm strength and that is the only way do it. They know the BA after 75 pitches but they need to get him up and running although now they can pull him if need be due to the extra pitcher in the pen. He likes Frasor and really likes Stewart. He mentioned that there are a couple of things they see that they want to work on with Stewart and he may be up this year........Coop'll fix him. He really liked Jackson thought he was a great kid and teammate. They may go to a six man rotation again with all of the consecutive games in the next couple of weeks. He was getting into Sale but I had to get out of the car. As for last week he said that they got in at 3:30 and he did not hang up. The called was dropped and he was in no hurry to talk after only getting a couple hours of sleep.
  23. Anyone think JR and his good friend had a conversation about Colby Rasmus? Anyone think JR and TL may work together next year if this year does not go well and Albert is gone?
