  1. Sox could very easily (actually a pretty good bet) lose four or five in a row as the offense has disappeared again. It is amazing how walks kill the Sox.
  2. Anyone following the Ricketts stuff recently? The sound bite of the father saying that the cubs sellout win or lose when they bought the team was intriguing. He admitted he does not care about sports and is not a fan and this was a business venture not a feel good story. The debt taken on is looking pretty daunting here and TD Ameritrade appears to want nothing to do with this. Tom Ricketts is looking like a mix between Mike McCasky and Paris Hilton more and more. The cub payroll may be below $100M next year. Then you put Hendry in the mix and it makes it appear even scarier not to mention Crane Kenny running around. That is like a clown car.
  3. Rios defense is slipping as well. He has looked about average out there and made some bad plays.
  4. Well without Crain this game is pretty much over as Sale is going to be left in there and then Marquez or Bruney will finish it off while Verlander sails through the next two
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) It didn't wear off for you the last three months of 2010 when he was a GIDP machine? Not really it is his body language that has done it for me. He really does not even look like he wants to be out there
  6. wow is rios bad. There appears to be no effort at in his game. The novelty of alex rios has worn off.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) I still can't believe Jackson's never developed something other than the fastball/slider. Even if he never ever throws a changeup/curveball for a strike, just having something at 80 mph would make his 88 slider and 93 fastball so much more effective by speeding them up to the batter after they take the pitch. Funny you should say that. On the radio in the 1st during Kelly's AB that was the exact same thing Jackson and Farmer were saying.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:01 PM) You take baths? lol. I haven't sat down in the tub since I was 10. I haven't fit in a tub since I was 10
  9. Is it me or does the 6 man rotation seem to hurt guys in the first couple of innings and they they settle in....except Danks Nice to tie it up but the pen better be ready to do some handy work
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Think you have to go with a hybrid of PK/Buehrle. There's just no way you can say Mark hasn't been a face of this franchise. I do not include pitchers as they are only out there once every 5 days. Purely my opinion.
  11. A smile always comes to my face when I think the White Sox have Frank Thomas and his status/legend seems to get stronger each year while the cubs have to accept the shenanigans of sammy sosa and look back at those years and that goofball. Now the Sox have another player that seems to fill the same shoes in Paul Konerko. To think over the last 30 year the White Sox have had as the face of their franchise Carlton Fisk Frank Thomas Paul Konerko Three hard nosed professions who all have flaws in their personalities but also all are players that fans should be proud to cheer for.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) If Jackson ends up going to the pen, it's just one more piece of evidence that KW needs to be replaced. He would be going to the pen because four starters are doing their job and the 5th is a leftie. Jackson out of the pen could be as nasty as anyone in any bullpen in all of baseball. It also saves his arm a little and is insurance should another pitcher need a rest. If he was posting Danks like numbers I would agreee with you but he has the best stuff suited for the bullpen. A pen of Jackson, Crain, Thorton, Sale and Santos if they are all playing to their potential which they appear to be headed, is sick. You put Danks in that mix and all you have a leftie that is inconcsistent and can be hit by good RHH. I like Jackson and am not going to look at the deal last year as anything bigger than it is. He has an arm that can have success in the bullpen soemthing none of the other five starters has.
  13. Had a three hour meeting put the old Soxtalk on page one when I left and walked through the game thread. perfect timing. Gavin was going to the minors around page 3 and Lilli Hurt is The Lord of the Rings That is a nice series and it looks like MR. Sale is ready to join the party.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) We haven't caught much of a break with anyone's rotation this season. We've seen the best. But I like our chances given our own pitching. 8-2, losses to Verlander and Cahill. They just missed Beckett and Buchholz but I agree with you
  15. Dunn is strong enough to sit back on the knuckler and flip it off the monster kind of like hitting a softball.
  16. Jackson gives the pen a good right handed power arm. I have neer been a big fan of Danks as I find his command of his pitches very frustrating to watch.
  17. A sweep makes them 5-5 on the road trip and a respectable performance 4-6 is ok Floyd needs to follow the lead. I think Mr. Danks vists the DL to clear his head.
  18. It really is amazing how the White Sox take and easy game and f*** it up. Ohman had been pitching good. This is yet another game where Jeff Gray would have helped.
  19. I always thought that a screwball was left handed version of a curve ball but I guess the elbow is inverted.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) I know we're all happy and rightfully so, but remember the big lug didn't play tonight. Oz has to play him and when he plays won't he be buzzkill and an automatic out? or he may get hot
  21. Sox have a ton of games played which means they will benefit from a good amount of off days. Sox have played an absurd amount of games on the road. Nice big win with some good pitching and nice hitting.
  22. Jo Jo Reyes finally got a win A couple of runs there would have been nice, this team can not make it easy.
  23. wow was that bad managing by Francona although his pen may have worked a ton in the DH yesterday
