  1. I think Jenks is finally healthy and the difference from this year and last is while he is giving up runners he is not giving up home runs which seemed to be the case last year. It is amazing that they are winning and scoring without homers. Twins face the Phils who are playing better while the Sox face the Nats after the twins played thr Rockies and the Sox the Bucs...... Things are getting interesting.
  2. People need to stop saying ya but they are beating bad teams. The Sox are over .500 against teams with winning records that is why they need to beat the bad teams. If they beat the bad teams they could make this exciting as I say this, they will probably blow this game and I will be back in the we suck mentality.
  3. 6 back in the loss column.....lord I know of more than 6 games that the Sox pissed/gave away this year. Twins face Halladay and Hamels over the weekend.
  4. Bob Feller was awesome...I think Ryan took PED's... I think they thre much fewer breaking crap in the past and pitched through the pain.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:27 AM) He's 20. His range is very good. Range Runs (a component of UZR) has him at 2.7. What makes his UZR mediocre is his Error Runs, which is at -3.5. It looks like he has trouble with routine plays (zone rating of only .756), but he's made 19 plays out of his zone. The kid's got talent on defense, he's just clumsy. Kind of like Alexei. Alexi isn't clumsy he is lazy.
  6. I wonder how AJ would fare as a manager.
  7. I view this as a cub slam more than relishing in the Bears failures. WHERE IS THE 1981 STING!!!!!!!
  8. The s***ty defense has been there with the cubs for years. The pitchers would K a lot of guys and they would hit a ton to cover it up. Also lee is really falling off.
  9. Pirates were 14-15 at home before last night.......although they are 5-1 against the cubs I believe at home
  10. I am watching Miracle with my kids and my son says if the USA wins the FIFA World Cup would that be a bigger Miracle than this.........good question. I wanted to say though, Jones should be DFA'd with Randy Williams. I have only read the last two pages of this thread to know what is going on here. I suppose the Sox are winning. Oh and kids eat free at Lone Star on Tuesdays...good deal but no Sox or cub game for some reason.
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 06:29 AM) I have a feeling that the Sox will win at least 4 out of the next 6 and create some hope. I'm starting to get nervous that KW isn't going to make any moves to free up payroll (until the offseason when they don't re-sign a few guys). As much of a fan as I am (and I continue to watch the games even during the bad times this year), I don't think the team as it is now can compete with the Twins. If Quentin and Beckham (especially) don't get their act together, there are two BIG holes in the lineup that will constantly hurt the team. What if they do get their act together? Payrolls in baseball are going to drop like a rock as attendance is plummeting. When you have 81 games to sell you can not charge the prices they are trying to charge.....see the cubs. None of the games this past weekend was a complete sell out. Yes they were only single seats.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) Jones is KW's guy Jones and Guillen buddies, no? Didn't Jones actually play with Guillen in Atl. Maybe it just smells like a Guillen move
  13. Kotsay and Jones are Guillen guys as well. The thing is that this team is where it is due to bad starting pitching and Quentin and Beckham your #2 & #3 hitters sucking. The cubs are where they are because of a bad bullpen and Ramirez and Lee sucking.
  14. You could probably get Fukodome for Linebrink right now. Fukodome is not going to see the light of day. He is the bizarro world Ramirez as he can in April and May but nothing after that.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) I'd like to know how many people recall their parents being drunk when they were kids, because I'm very sure you dont understand being drunk until you are alot older anyway. I dont think the "role model" stuff applies to a guy drinking 3 beers at a parade. Oversensitivity is a little widespread here IMO. There have been several hockey teams, baseball teams etc that have had drinks while on TV and in front of people several times after winning a championship, its part of the world, people drink. See White Sox 2000 celebration at the Metrodome.
  16. Hadn't the Indians lost 8 in a row before last weekend? Also the Twins face Ubaldo Jimenez, Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels next week. While the Sox are facing Pittsburgh and Washington.
  17. No banner is better than that banner sans Mark. I believe the banner to be jinxed. Please put Mauer, Moreanu and Verlander on it. Thanks.
  18. Alexi Ramirez second ab was as bad of an AB that you will see. Steve Stone agreed this morning that Ramirez has a very low baseball IQ.
  19. mark grudzalaniek was released by the Indians..... He should be brought to replace Nix who is abysmal.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) They would never offer him arb. Better chance they give him a 2 year extension than arb. Why not, he does not make that much. If he accepts, ink a two year deal. If he declines take the draft picks, put the ball in his court for PR sake. Flowers is not pushing anyone at this point.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) I actually agree, and it's more likely he gets traded in a month or so. They will not get the return for him. I think they offer arbitration. Flowers is making the choice to not trade him easy at this point.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) Lillibridge wasn't a very fundamentally good hitter when we saw him last year either. Before the balk the situation called for a bunt. Ramirez can not bunt, Lillibridge can.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) If this was AJP's last game, I want to say that his pitch calling this series was absolutely phenomenal. See NL hitters comment a page earlier
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) It's always fun watching our approach in Backe in Game 4. Here is my problem with the 9th. If Ramirez is up there to bunt then why no PH Lillibridge to bunt as Ramirez is as fundamentally as bad a hitter as there is in baseball. It just sucks that chad tracey beat them.
  25. Nice game, nice series glad we were not no hit. The cubs suck. Beckham and Quentinare not getting any beter and Nix and Jones should be DFA'd. There is no way Lilly should have dominated.
