QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) Who goes in for the 7th? I'd put in Thornton and hope he can perform well for 5 hitters. I do not like anyone out of the pen for more than one inning.

This is gettingexciting. Konerko seems to never have been as good as he has been this year.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Wowsers, not even close. Hopefully our hitters know Hudson throws a slider. This game is not looking good 6 easy outs for Hudson....Mark getting hit hard

Future of AJ
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) And the #1 reason KW didn't trade AJ: there was ZERO market for him. No real interest out there. Bruce Levine reported that KW was asking for too much and there was plenty of interest. I just think they were not going to just dump his salary.

Lilly pitching tonight so Dayan may not play for some time. Sox to get Dempster, Zambrano and Silva if he is healthy.

Mark Kotsay is batting .205 or something like that....not asking Dayan to do to much if he DH's to hit .205 Kotsay and Jones should not DH......ever

Chris Sale signs for a bargain; expected in majors this year
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) I don't think Miller had the command that Sale does and ultimately I think it is the command that has more or less done Miller in. However, there is no denying that they rushed Miller up and didn't allow him to develop and make the necessary adjustments to try and improve his command at the minor league level. I don't get the feeling that the Sox are doing this with Sale as they just feel he is flat out more advanced and capable. My big concern is by us utilizing him as a reliever so early, there is a chance we stunt the growth and development of some of the secondary pitches needed for him to excel in the rotation. I would too but he is coming off of a full college season so the ending of this year is to get his feet wet. He can go back to starting next spring

Are you in or out
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 10:01 AM) The Sox second half schedule is brutal. The Twins are done with Boston and New York. The Tigers are done on the west coast. It's going to be tough, no question. The Sox only hope is to dominate both teams head to head. Tigers 9-5 Twins 9-4 That's the minimum. and then hope. I quickly did a look and I pulled the following as teams that I think are what I would consider tough oppenents they are the Rays, Jays Rangers, Angels, Yanks and Red Sox. Below are how I quickly added these up. I did not look head-to-head. Twins Rays (8) Jays (7) Rangers (7) Angels (3) = 25 Sox Angels (7) Yanks (3) Red Sox (7) = 17 Tigers Rays (7) Jays (8) Rangers (5) Angels (2) Yanks (4) Red Sox (3) = 29 I then looked at tough stretches and I found none like these for the Sox Twins Rays (4) Jays (3) Tigers (3) Sox (4) Rangers (4) Angels (3) Tigers Rangers (3) Jays (4) Rays (4) Red Sox (3) White Sox (3) Angels (3) Rays (3) White Sox (3) Yanks (4) yes that is in succession I pulled this together off of the cuff so I am not sure it is 100% accurate but I like the Sox schdule. I also think the Jays pitching matches up against he Twins nicely.

Sox at Washington 6-19 game thread 3:10 pm first pitch
If the Sox were in a long stretch of games sitting Rios today and Konerko tomorrow would make sense...this team is on a roll and he sits them in the same game during a stretch of 6 games in 8 days. I assume Pierre and AJ will sit tomorrow If lefties hit whoever is pitching Kotsay is fine but Jones has no business ever playing over Rios. Terrible move.

I wish Dayan's glove was a sure thing. This team is winning with pitching and defense...I'd rather he DH but I understand Vizquel can not play every day.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 07:22 AM) The argument for most people isnt that Jenks can't be good. There's more a suspicion that he stops throwing the curve for long stretches of time without telling anyone his reasoning. True, he could be informing Coop/Ozzie outside our knowledge....but there seems to be a scenario where he keeps going out there, but restricts his curve throwing to 1) pace himself? 2) preserve his health for financial gain this offseason? 3)who knows But since we dont get the info, we begin wondering about these possibilities. It is a feel pitch and he does not have time to gain a fell for it. If he is warming up and does not have it, he can work to get it like a starter.

Sox at Washington 6-18 game thread
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) seems like for the 1st time this season, the Sox are showing up at the park expecting to win rather than just hoping to win. It really seems that there is a mindset there that backing this up....odd

Crazy Like Fox
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) No they are not but I don't see how you say the Sox should have swept them. They lost a game by 5 runs. Just because they were winning for 6 innings doesn't mean they should have won. I think they should have. When the Sox have any type of lead and Thorton and Jenks available I think they should win.

¡Viva la Revolución!
This should end the Jones or Kotsay experiments when Teahen comes back. If he can hit .200 he is doing better than those two...
-
Crazy Like Fox
Sox should've swept the Tigers last week, are they a bad team?
-
Hudson On his way up?
I take it he is just hanging around to see if Peavy can go or not.
-
¡Viva la Revolución!
I hope they let him Dh and hit the soft tossing lefties that are still killing this team. He will be sent down when Teahen gets back. Nix was brutal.
