Sox Option Russell, Call Up Clayton Richard
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 11:06 PM) "The White Sox have altered their rotation, partly in an attempt to slow down Texas' formidable lineup. Staff ace Mark Buehrle had his scheduled start moved from Wednesday to Tuesday night against the Rangers, and recently promoted left-hander Clayton Richard will make his major-league debut Wednesday. The Rangers entered Monday night's game against the Sox with a .279 batting average, but they were batting only .255 against lefties and 11-19 in games against left-handed starting pitchers." http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,6452315.story But why can't Richard pitch Tuesday and Buerhle Wednesday on 5 days rest????

Zach Miner doing something nobody on the Sox could do the last six times they played the Royals. Real bad walk right there to turn the line-up over.

If certain players would at least try and do something with the breaking ball off the outside corner teams would not eat them alive out there.

Javier Vazquez is a wilting flower He is the epitome of a bad team pitcher. Any coincidence that earlier in the year when there was no pressure he was lights out. Now that there is a pennant chase going on he is nowhere to be seen. I get the feeling that 3 runs will be enough. Sid Ponson helping the Sox out.

Brewers trade for Giants 2B Durham
Think they are looking to move Weeks for a closer/bullpen arm like Street. I can't see Weeks being really positive about this move.

2008 MLB All Star Game Thread
To run out of pitchers last night was stupid. There is no reason for starters to go 1 inning. Keep 1 or 2 out if there are extra innings. Every All-Star game should have a DH and a re-entry for injured players. I also got to admit the fact the Sox would get home field over the cubs crossed my mind on more than one occasion.

Why Do You Love Baseball
The outdoors. The odd perfection of the game. Playing catch The late inning rally The no-hitter (thanks Buerhle) THIS SITE WOULD NOT EXIST, which may be a good thing. Baseball allows you to discuss and form bonds. It is a mens (and some women) sewing circle. You sit around parties and gatherings and discuss why Konerko sucks and how good could Danks be. Is Floyd this good? How about Quentin! Remember going to the old park and drinking at 18. Parties and get togethers are more frequent in the summer and baseball is the tonic. Beer Opening Day World Series The minor leagues and prospects SPRING TRAINING Coming from the midwest, the weather really impacts your emotions and baseball allows you to enjoy this. Having young boys now we have gone to three games this year and are playing more. We stayed up until Linebrink blew only to start their day off right with news of the win. We are learning the teams and catching pop ups. Hitting wiffle balls and learning what it means to be kids and enjoy life. To play baseball all you need is a wall, mitt, ball and imagination. Fast Pitch

Wii Fit
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) Ya, they have to have game counsel. In fact for some reason I always thought Wii fit came with the system (but I'm probably wrong). That is Wii Sports. I am looking at Wii Fit to get after the summer. Looks really cool.

Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) The defensive switch is also a tough one to call last night as well. Lets say KC scored 2 runs anyways after the defensive switch(assuming BA in center and Swish at 1st). Then you go into the ninth down 1 and you have Thome-BA-Swisher up against Soria instead of Thome-Konerko-Swisher. Its a moot point anyways, but I can see the justification of keeping Konerko in the game at 1st. To me a good alternative move that could have been made last night would slide Swisher to left and BA in Center. Here was my take. In a 1-0 game, pitching and defense is needed as you are playing 6 outs to 3. Also if they score 1 or 2 in the bottom of 8th Soria is coming in and the chances of hitting him are not that good so you are hoping 1-1 going to the 10th. Konerko did nothing in the last two games to warrant a blind faith in him to hit in the 9th. You know you have a better defensive team with Swisher and Anderson out there so go with it. Also Anderson and Wise have had as big of hits as Konerko recently sos what is wrong with putting their bats in the game.

Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
Here is the thing that I think is getting people. Last night alone he had the opportunites to do something and he did not and the dropped ball in 8th was the topper. I am really unclear as to what the hurry was to bring him back. Is the hand magically healed? The team was succeeding and he still looks off. Nice first game against the MiLB pitcher not so against the MLB variety. As they talked about with Cowley on the SCORE this morning his slumps are tracked in months not days. The difference with Thome and Konerko is Thome has some athletic ability and ca ngo first to third and score from 1st or 2nd. Konerko can not. He can get hot.........or he could not. 2003 was another year where he wilted for the season and an injury was the reason. The problem last night........NO DEFENSIVE CHANGES. Anderson gets to both balls (or at least makes them close) in center and Swisher catches the ball at first.
