Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
Here is the thing that I think is getting people. Last night alone he had the opportunites to do something and he did not and the dropped ball in 8th was the topper. I am really unclear as to what the hurry was to bring him back. Is the hand magically healed? The team was succeeding and he still looks off. Nice first game against the MiLB pitcher not so against the MLB variety. As they talked about with Cowley on the SCORE this morning his slumps are tracked in months not days. The difference with Thome and Konerko is Thome has some athletic ability and ca ngo first to third and score from 1st or 2nd. Konerko can not. He can get hot.........or he could not. 2003 was another year where he wilted for the season and an injury was the reason. The problem last night........NO DEFENSIVE CHANGES. Anderson gets to both balls (or at least makes them close) in center and Swisher catches the ball at first.

2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) Are you saying he shouldn't have a weakness? at 31 years old he should have already learned and adjusted to where his book isn't that big. Something about old dog and new tricks.....

2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) The book is out on Fuk right now, now you have to see if he adjusts. I agree but for $12M annually and a 31 year old player there shouldn't really be a book should there???????

Fukodome 0-5 with 3 k's Other than OBP Alexi Ramirez is a better player in just about every facet of the game. Reds with 7 homeruns today.

Darnell Spahn stole second to open first base and Mauer was thenwalked to load the bases in the 10th where as Casilla ended the inning. Not real smart to give Leyland the open base for Mauer. Not cub related but this seems like a hot thread.

2 unearned runs allow the cubs back into the game. Still do not understand how the cubs got a servicable reliever/swingman in the harden deal. Although Ross just hit his second homerun of the day. cubs are getting bit by the long ball today.

The difference between the cubs and the Sox is that the cubs beat the piss out of s*** pitchers and are shut down by good pitching.

Lilly lasted 2.2 innings wonder if he is hurt. Score is 4-3 with 2 outs and the bottom of the Red order up. I thought they would let him try and work out of it as he si only at 63 pitches. Wuertz came in walked Ross and got the pitcher out. I thought Lilly could do that. I wonder if Ted and Lou will be fighting later.

You want the home team to win as to not give to great an advantage to the other.

Mike, Mike, Alex, Jim, Alex, Jim, Mike..........
For the past 100 years my name has been no lower than 31 hitting #1 in 1960 and was in the top 10 from 1937 to 1991 where it has hoovered in the mid to upper teens for the last 17 years. I am the most interesting man alive.

**White Sox vs. Royals 7/9/08** 7:10pm, CSN+
Last time through the rotation prior to the break and everyone other than Contreras will be going on 5 days rest. All of the starters will throw 100-120 minimum pitches wheather they are getting lit up or not to save the pen.

Harden to Cubs
I think the cubs are going to make Harden a bullpen arm and Gaudin is the starter they were looking for. Wood is due to break down and Marmol has scuffled recently. Harden will get hurt it is if but when. This to me is a knee jerk reaction to the CC deal to get he media back on the cub bandwagon. Gallahger could be a Dempster type in a year or two. Remember the Pierre deal as pointed out in an other thread. If Mitre doesn't get hurt that would be an epic disaster of a trade at this point in time. This will end up like the Nomar deal with Gaudin being the Matt Murton and Harden playing the role of DL member.
