  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 10:04 PM) It looks like the Brewers have their rotation set up so that their main 4 pitchers face the Cubs next week? The Brewers will skip everyone they have to, to get Sheets and Sabathia against the cubs. The rotation was reset after the break to do this. The cubs are not choking, they just are not THAT good. They are a good NL team but the ability of Soto, DeRosa, Theriot, Fukodome and the continued productivity of Edmonds/Johnson was a bit of stretch. They are good but by no means a forgone conclusion that they were head and shoulders above everyone else. They fact any of their 4 pitchers made it to the all-star game over Kyle Lohse is criminal.
  2. My feeling is that if Richard pitches well he and Fields are a package going somewhere for a trade. Also CSN stated last night that Crede is out today but Masset is available. I think Dotel, Linebrink and Jenks all pitch today to get their work in regardless of Richard's performance as there is an off day tomorrow. I like the Thome approach of the inside out swing.
  3. A win today and they are 6-6 against the Royals and Texas.....I guess that ain't that bad. Also I am not certain the Paul Konerko hot streak is a given.
  4. OC, Swisher and Konerko are painful to watch right now
  5. QUOTE (spiffalicious @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) The score has been saying that Buehrle's grandfather's funeral is tomorrow, so the Sox are letting him pitch today so he can go to the funeral. Well then, there you have it. Thanks.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 11:06 PM) "The White Sox have altered their rotation, partly in an attempt to slow down Texas' formidable lineup. Staff ace Mark Buehrle had his scheduled start moved from Wednesday to Tuesday night against the Rangers, and recently promoted left-hander Clayton Richard will make his major-league debut Wednesday. The Rangers entered Monday night's game against the Sox with a .279 batting average, but they were batting only .255 against lefties and 11-19 in games against left-handed starting pitchers." http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,6452315.story But why can't Richard pitch Tuesday and Buerhle Wednesday on 5 days rest????
  7. Gascan Boone. 5-1 Rangers
  8. Gotta love the bloop double. Anytime OC wants to join the team he can feel free ot do so.
  9. Bradley with a terrible at-bat.
  10. Why Buerhle on three days rest????
  11. Back to it being the umpire's fault. Crede swung at two balls before looking at strike three.
  12. Swisher was just schooled
  13. Javy turned in a nice game.
  14. Harden looking awesome Brewer pen gives up the lead........
  15. Zach Miner doing something nobody on the Sox could do the last six times they played the Royals. Real bad walk right there to turn the line-up over.
  16. Impressive day for Mr. Telephone Man.
  17. If certain players would at least try and do something with the breaking ball off the outside corner teams would not eat them alive out there.
  18. Swisher and Konerko with really bad at-bats.
  19. Detroit shutting out that incredible Royal offense.
  20. Javier Vazquez is a wilting flower He is the epitome of a bad team pitcher. Any coincidence that earlier in the year when there was no pressure he was lights out. Now that there is a pennant chase going on he is nowhere to be seen. I get the feeling that 3 runs will be enough. Sid Ponson helping the Sox out.

QUOTE (BurlyMan56 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) Vito n Nicks on 83rd and Pulaski, Obbie's on Archer, Phil's Pizza on 35th and Aberdeen. Waldo Cooney's sucks so does Home Run Inn. Not a big Vito and Nick's fan and never had Phil's Obbie's could be the best deep dish pizza I am startign t olike Begger's more. Waldo Cooney's is ok and Hoem Run Inn frozen is as good as the restaurant.
  22. Think they are looking to move Weeks for a closer/bullpen arm like Street. I can't see Weeks being really positive about this move.
  23. To run out of pitchers last night was stupid. There is no reason for starters to go 1 inning. Keep 1 or 2 out if there are extra innings. Every All-Star game should have a DH and a re-entry for injured players. I also got to admit the fact the Sox would get home field over the cubs crossed my mind on more than one occasion.
  24. PLEASE POST A STICKY THAT KONERKO (10/5) and THOME (CLAUSE) CAN NOT BE TRADED WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT AND THERFORE SHOULD NOT BE PART OF ANY SCENARIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baseball allows you to discuss and form bonds. It is a mens (and some women) sewing circle. You sit around parties and gatherings and discuss why Konerko sucks and how good could Danks be. Is Floyd this good? How about Quentin! Remember going to the old park and drinking at 18. Parties and get togethers are more frequent in the summer and baseball is the tonic. Having young boys now we have gone to three games this year and are playing more. We stayed up until Linebrink blew only to start their day off right with news of the win. We are learning the teams and catching pop ups. Hitting wiffle balls and learning what it means to be kids and enjoy life. To play baseball all you need is a wall, mitt, ball and imagination.
