  1. Crow so that Broadway could be traded in June for something to help now and then replace Count in 2010. I'd love Danks with the next pick, wishful thinking, I know.
  2. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Definitely not the Reds. They have Cueto, Volquez, Bailey, Harang, and Arroyo, every one a better bet than Loaiza. The Pirates are also loaded with young pitchers, even if some of them aren't so hot. The Nats starters have been surprisingly good. The Brewers could use a pitcher, but even Bush has been as good as Loaiza this year. Loaiza's just too old -- teams that are rebuilding are going to take their chances with the longest-shot youngster before going to Loaiza. Teams that are competing mostly have a passable 1-5. Loaiza for the remainder of the year for a team not going anywhere is better than getting the FA clocking run when you are out of it already. He also could eat innings and possibly net you an extra pick in the draft if he pans out.
  3. I just find it hard to believe that no other team would give him a starting spot in their rotation. Especially a bad tem. Unless he knows he is finished wouldn't he Pirates, Reds, etc. be able ot offer him a spot to build up his value for this offseason. Maybe the Sox just guaranteed him a rotation spot in AAA where he is free to leave whenever he wanted.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) Well if you have 2 players with very similar OBP and SLG numbers but one has a .050 point advantage in batting average, you go with him since a single > a walk. Example 1: Player A: .300/.380/.500/.880 Player B: .250/.380/.500/.880 It's player A all the way. Example 2: Player A: .300/.330/.500/.830 (IsoD = .030) Player B: .260/.370/.500/.870 (IsoD = .110) Now who are you taking? Way to confusing for me and bit of stat overload. I'll take Yaz and the don't tell what you hit, tell me when you hit guy....unless Catfish or Sam McDowell are pitching, than all of those numbers are crap.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) The Yanks sure loved Loaiza when he was there. Has anyone actually seen Loaiza pitch this year? His fastball was in the mid 80s when I saw it, and he had very little in terms of offspeed pitches. Wasn't he injured? Maybe he is done then as I have not seen him but was going by last season more than this when he was at least servicable.
  6. Maybe Massett and another player in a trade of some sort..........
  7. What is odd is why wouldn't other teams be able to offer him a starting rotation spot. Really low risk / high reward....... Look at he Yanks, sign him and move Joba back to the pen. Maybe he really liked it here and wanted to return for some reason. Hell, he would at least be a .500 pitcher guaranteed in the NL. For an inning or two, Loaiza could be as effective as anyone out of the pen
  8. As long as Thome, Konerko and Swisher hit around .200 there is nothing the remaining line-up or Greg Walker can do for this team.
  9. The book on Ramirez in Tucson was he could hit any fastball and the breaking stuff would get him. Thus far he has looked to be looking all breaking balls, which he should, and fouling off the fastballs deeper in the count. This to me shows signs of a player that can be successful in the majors. The fact he has the tools and ability to play anywhere in the field is another plus. On top of all of this, he seems to have rejuventad the Count which makes him a favorite of mine. In the last few days he seems to have cut down on his swing as he gets deeper into the count, yet another bonus. Christ, I could go on all day.
  10. Didn't learn from last year to just blow this guy away?
  11. Can't anyone throw a strike to first? I'd rather Jenks get his work in here with a little breathing room after 5 or 6 days off.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) Jenks in for a 4 run game. Has it been that long since he's been used? It was a save situation when he was warming. Come on just throw strikes.
  13. Juan Uribe, Wally Pipp.....Wally Pipp, Juan Uribe Yes I just compared Alexi Ramirez to the Iron Horse.
  14. The fact that 3 guys are being run out there daily that are hitting .200 in June answers all questions as to why the Sox are not having fun and why the fans can not enjoy this team. Sexi Lexi DeJesus arm = Pods
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) Nice at bat, Joe. Nobody should make out against this stiff Gobble. Slick Nick begs to differ.
  16. Do any two players combined on the Sox have more RBI's than Quentin? I'm to lazy to look.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) It's KC....every game against them is similar. I was hoping it'd be different without Sweeney, Emil Brown and crap I forget his name the other old timer that changed teams annually. Actaully Dotel only had one hard hit ball, the last one. He should have caught he bouncer up the middle and with the shift Cabrera had a decent shot at the RBI blooper.
  18. So much for the easy win.
  19. Stolen bases are becoming a scary occurance.
  20. Massett shold be in this game and Dotel should have caught that ball.
  21. In response to a post earlier about the Sox not having any fun while winning, it has nothing to do with Guillen, it has to do with the team being tight because every game is a nail biter. Konerko and Thome are an utter disgrace for the amount of money they are making. $27M down the drain.
  22. Play Ozuna at third, Anderson Cf and Swisher at first and DH Crede. That should be tomorrow's line-up
  23. This isn't the Porn star right, this is a new guy pitching? Note to Hawk, fans are going to write-in people no matter who they are, this isn't 1985. Add a couple here and go to Masset for the 8th and 9th
  24. Warm nights at Comiskey lead to homers. Except for the 4 and 5 hitters in the White Sox line-up Man Floyd's curve is nasty, Pena looked bad
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) The good news is that Brian Anderson has been appropriately punished for daring to get a hit or two on Sunday. How many times will I think he may get a shot to only have to see Konerko and Swisher trot out there. Now he can sit on the bench all week, go 0-4 next Sunday and we will get to hear how he can not hit. I really thought the move was going to be that Anderson will start over Swisher, oh well.
