I am by nature the prototypical negative White Sox fan but last night I was ok with. Saunders beat them. OC looked good and the tying run was one with one out. Thome and Crede were abysmal in the 9th but K-Rod is good. They need to start hittin though as Quintin and Dye can not carry the team. I thought Hall should have played. Floyd had an embarasing inning but he pitched well for the other eight which helped the pen. f*** Tori Hunter.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread

I heard Marion and the #2 for the #1 basically Marion and Beasly for Rose. The Heat love Rose and are not high on Beasley. I think Rose defense is the difference in the two as he can guard on the perimieter. I think this is make or break on Pax. He needs to move some bodies and be creative. There is no reason why with the pieces they have in place that they should not compete for the east title next year Heinrich off the bench for Hughes and Rose is the back court they need with Thabo playing good defense and filling in. The Gooden and Hughes trade could be a steal as Rose could make both players better. Heinrich not having to handle the ball is a more consistent 2 guard as oppossed to Gordon (I think Ben Gordon is so one deminsional and absolutely horrible at handling the ball and defense he cna shoot and he is streaky at that). Deng / Noc hat the SF Gooden/Thomas/Noah down low. Those are the only 9 guys they need -
Thats a Motha-Truckin White Sox Winner

The scarier thought is if the potential of this offense (OC, Swisher and Konerko) join Thome in getting hot or at least warm with the pitching potnetial....look out. Masset and Thorton have looked like they could be as effective as anyone out of the pen and sans the Baltimore Orioles Linebrink and Jenks are looking lights out. Dotel still seems to be erratic but he has come through when he has needed to, kind of like Damso Marte when Marte was going good. Logan and Wasserman are good two inning guys when the game is out of hand. I'd really like to see Masset getting more meaningful innings (ie start the 7th or 8th). What a friggin difference a week makes. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) I do love that 3/4/5 of the Astros though. It's too bad Wiggington sucks and they keep bringing back Ausmus. The Astros line-up is as good as any in basball. How they couldn't hit he cubs more is beyond me.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) But Hawk just told us OC is more than just offense and defense! That made me shake my head. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Berkman's looked like crap this series. He's K'd 6 times already, and many of those were with runners on base. Good hitters seem to be scared of the cubs it seems Fat Albet seems to always go 1-4 with a K

Masset should have been in for the 8th and 9th no doubt about it. Logan and Wasserman should pitch when the Sox are losing Masset and Thorton when they are winning big or early in close games Dotel, Linebrink and Jenks to end games -
Carols Quintin, Orlando Cabrerra, Nick Swisher, Alexi Ramirez, Octavio Dotel, Scott Linebrink, Gavin Floyd v. Darin Erstad.........

Crap I put some dough on the Indians and cubs tonight. Guy that I gave my tix to tonight took his kid and the Thome home run was right where my season seats are. Good for them. Bulls need to make a blockbuster trade as they have the pieces now to do something. Man why couldn't they have gotten the pick last year. I think the pressure I Rose would be huge. They also do not need to get any younger. -
QUOTE (Brian @ May 19, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) I'm staying away from DarkUFO. I just accidently read the one I posted. That is great for episode recaps and screencaps. The spoilers were real bad last year as they had episode reviews posted before the show aired. The thing was, knowing what happened allowed you to focus more on the ancillary things that are always missed that you are told to look for. It is better this season though going in fresh.

QUOTE (rangercal @ May 19, 2008 -> 06:34 AM) 25 Man Roster Jimmie Foxx 1b R (#1 RH Pinch Hitter) Jimmie Foxx is the most underrated player in ANY sport of all time in my mind. I like Mel Ott as well.

QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ May 19, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) Last week at this time, a lot of people were praising the Twins. Since the, they were swept by Toronto at home, and lost 2 of 3 in Colorado. Thier defense has been terrible at best and the relief pitching has been terrible. Yesterday, the Twins had 6 hits, all of them extra bases. 2 lead off doubles and a lead off triple, and they managed only 2 runs. Terrible. Rest assurred from June 6th through the 9th all will be right with the Twins defense and clutch hitting.

I posted at the end of the game thread that I felt Masset would have been ideal for the 7th inning. I think Guillen is holding last year over Thorton, Masset and Anderson's head and is giving Wasserman a longer leash because of his work last year. McDougal should be up as he actually has some semblance of stuff. Wasserman is a fluky guy that isn't working. Also Dotel is being over worked. Sox Win.
-
Just got home and when Wassermen came in I said isn't the reason Masett is on this team is to try and go more than one inning. Especially with Linebrink and Jenks being unavailable forthe most part? Guillen seems to be to fixated on last year when it comes to Thorton, Wasserman, Massett and Anderson.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) Did Brooks Robinson ever have a stretch like this? If he ever did Hawk would've told us all about it by now. The Manny Ramirez foul pop up still stands out in my mind along with Valentin pop foul catch against the Twins. There is also the always impressive D'angelo Jimenez 3 run infield pop out error which started the House of Horrors. Crede's error's just stand out because they seem to have a huge impact on the outcome of the game. They are relatively easy plays as well...well at lest hte last few were.

Jenks against Vlad last night was huge. Vlad had one pitch to hit and was a little late on it. Jenks then schooled him for the remainder of the AB.

QUOTE (G&T @ May 16, 2008 -> 07:25 AM) Helps that we didn't play in Oakland. Just sayin'. Although I will say this is about as good a position as the Sox could have expected. This is a great chance to be 6-4 or 7-3 on this trip. Can't ask for anything more. The really lucky thing was they missed the King, Bedard, Saunders and Lincecum. Finish it strong. I'd like them to start Thome at first and rest Konerko for the series.
