I have a much bigger problem at this point with them keeping Fields than I do Flus.

Eberflus had three epic failures to lose games and has seen both coordinators and two other hires fired already.

If they are moving on from Fields then clean house and start over.

Only saving grace is if there is a proven OC brought in that is not jumping ship in 12 months if they succeed like Gase did.

Yeah, it actually penalizes QBs with good mobility and the ability to extend plays. They really need a TTT metric that only measures dropbacks within the pocket.

Because I honestly think there is a difference in Fields holding onto the ball in the pocket cause he can't decide who to throw to and him on a designed rollout buying time with his legs so he can get an open receiver. For TTT, those are the same things and they really shouldn't be.

    Thanks.  It's a useless stat.

Flus had not only on the field strategy gaffes over two seasons but his two personnel “things” this year should have gotten him fired.   People want to be like “but wait look how great the defense did when he took over” but you know what?  We KNEW he was a good DC, and we didn’t know if he was a good HC.  That isn’t a feather in his cap for me, that’s scrambling to save face.

i get it, you are old school in this town and you have seen how the sausage is made closer than I have.  But I don’t think anything this guy has done up til now has shown me that he has what it takes to be a good head coach in this town, totally the opposite in fact

His defense sucks until he got an All Pro and took over the play calling.  The guys he hired are terrible.  I am not certain they even employ an OL coach.

Two separate issues, but I don’t believe that tweet for a second. Anyone with working eyes can tell you Love had much more of a pocket snd time than Fields yesterday.

The point to that, and I am catching up on this thread is not the OL and time to throw, to me it is the time it takes to make a decision.  Love had better protection but he was also throwing it much sooner.

Fields holds on to the ball way toooooo long and still can't find a receiver.

If the answer is getting Fields more weapons, then he better take a large haircut on an extension.

The thing that drives me insane is that if the Sox are so high on Waldrep, they could have just drafted him a few months ago.

Maybe the new regime wanted him but the clown car wanted the unathletic kid with the weird batting stance.

  6. Against certain defenses the ball needs to come out quick.

With Bagent this seemed to happen and the offense seeemed to be crisp and in a flow.

I am not certain if a coaching staff can fix Fields flaws and get the best out of him but Getsy stinks.

I still think Fields can win and the team strength via draft capital can be built around him.

Let new HC and OC determine with Poles and Warren what is best.

I'm jealous of their organization.  They might be one of the few Chicago teams that is trying to do something right.  They don't have an owner that is so out of touch with baseball reality.

Sometimes I agree with this point and then other times I'm not so sure.  They always seem to be getting everyone either via trade or FA but it reality they finalize very few of these deals.

They are light years better then the White Sox but that's a rather low bar.

I know refs usually notify them but damn that’s a full foot over.  What the hell was Toney thinking

I like tha the Chiefs were complaining that they usually warn them.  Yes they warn them but it is illegal and with a minute left you don't warn them.  My guess is that he was warned earlier.  It didn't impact the play but it's still stupid.

  9. I think it has come down to who will guarantee him the most without putting in kickers about his availability to pitch.

Then there is, who owns the Blue Jays......Roges Communications.  This is bigger then the baseball card.

I wonder if they agree to play a series or two or three a year in Japan for him or begin games at 9:00 at night in Toronto to be on at 11 in the morning in Japan.

  10. I wonder if JR would like to have an expansion team in Nashville and sell the White Sox.

If a new MLB franchise is $2B+, he sells the White Sox for $1.8B, buys in at $2B+ with that group, no tax implication and then he is part of the new investor group in Nashville.  Didn'tthat happen somehow with Montreal, Florida, Boston, Washignton?

MLB gets a viable team in Chicago and then whoever runs Nashville does so with JR not controlling but a passive investor.

Whoever owns Sox with Reinsdorf could actually buy him out and he could take that revenue to Nashville.

I think it's more likely JR builds a 25K baseball stadium in west loop.  Small stadium is less overhead and creates a greater demand for big games $$$$, if there ever are any.

Jerry hasa $2B asset that generates limited cash flow.

December 15, 1993 - Sox G.M. Ron Schueler’s luck with taking chances on hurt or limited free agents continued when he signed Julio Franco to a contract. Franco would have a tremendous 1994 season hitting behind Frank Thomas. Julio would have 20 home runs, 98 RBI’s, eight stolen bases and a .319 batting average in his one year in Chicago. He went to Japan the next year because the Sox refused to meet his asking price on a new deal and with labor unrest on the horizon wanted some stability.

January 22, 1996 - The Sox dealt two minor leaguers to Oakland for slugger Danny Tartabull.

The enigmatic Tartabull who had as much talent as anyone, but often didn’t show it, put together a very good season on the South Side, with 27 home runs and 101 RBI’s. The two minor leaguers sent to the A’s were never heard from again. Danny then signed a free agent deal with the Phillies the following year.

His best game for the White Sox came in Boston on September 14 that season when he drove in six runs in a 13-5 win at Fenway Park. He went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Four of his RBI’s came on an eighth inning grand slam.

Those two guys at least produced when they were a member of the team.

Cover of Sun Times when Franco was signed was White Sox HIre A Hitman man was he good that year that Jerry ended early.

I'm surprised at the repeated inclusion of Royce Clayton. Maybe just for unrealized dreaming. He moved Ozzie Smith to 2B and was reviled for that, right?

In 2001, I was in Minneapolis for work meetings. It was the week of the season that was moved from the 9/11 week to the end of the season. I wound up in the same hotel as the White Sox, so I kept running into them all day. Royce and Maggs were sitting in the bar area. I went up to Magglio Ordoñez, called him Paul Konerko, and said I was his biggest fan. Royce Clayton busted up at that. Every time I'd run into Clayton on the elevator or the lobby, he was always cordial. I was wearing a Sox jacket, so maybe they thought I worked in marketing, or something.

I view certain guys as reason why the team failed.  All I recall about him and Harold batting under .100 in June as the team floundered.

I was in the upper deck at that Paniagua game....I treat him as more of an urban legend. I almost bought his game worn jersey at Soxfest just to see the reaction when I wore it to a game, but it was more than $5.

I changed the colored tags on a game worn Jason Bere for $15 at Soxfest.  I spent the $150 savings on beer at the Fest so White Sox Charities got their money.

I burnt a part of it using it as pot holder during a tailgate.  White Sox Charities karma at its best.

I had great sits behnd the vistitors dugout.  What a douche.

  15. Navarro - if you were a Sox fan at that time he is number 1 by a mile.  I blame the white flag on him, his contract and JR never spending again

George Bell - I blame him for 93

Jerry Dybzynski  - I don't care if I spelled wrong I blame him for 83

Hat tip to @dohnutfor the idea to help us forget this group of current losers by remembering past losers.

List 10 White Sox players who you personally disliked the most. I will start with the 10 guys who popped quickly into my head and I am sure that I have missed some good ones so I look forward to other Soxtalker's Lists.

    Mine, in no particular order:

    Brett Lawrie

    Jeff Samardzija

    Joey Cora

    Nick Swisher

    Royce Clayton

    Rob Dibble

    Kevin Youkilis

    Billy Koch

    David Wells

    Jamie Navarro

Sorry to make it 11 but I remembered who I hated most recently and didn't want to remove any of the deserving above....AJ Pollock

    Why Youkilis?
