  1. This whole thing goes to prove there was some sort of pissing contest in that front office.

Why fire them when he did and then put Getz in there and go on some idiotic rant about competing next year and not wanting to give the next guy time learn the system.

I'd have given him more credit if he just said, "I like Chris, I know he is inexperieinced but this thing is a mess and I trust he can build the organization we need."  I handed the keys to Kenny and Rick and they drove it off a cliff.

I really wonder if there was ever a conversation about spending on things Tampa does to keep the payroll low and win or if Rick and KW took the funding and wasted it on the Leury Garcia's of the world.

  2. This is churnign the 40 man which is what is needed.  I like that Getz realizes they need organizational depth and this adds it.

Will any of these guys pan out, who knows.

We all know Bummer will be pitching next fall and dominate.

This trade was Bummer for Soroka.  The upside on Soroka is his major injury was not to his arm and Burger came back from it BUT its an ankle and pitching plays differently on that then 3B/DH.  The Braves don't have the time for him to regain his ability.

The best players in this draft are college 1B and 2B and college starters with reliever risk. Ethan Holliday is in next year's class. I won't be upset with a top 5 pick but the system blows for the White Sox

Everything blows for the White Sox as they are a major market team run like a small market team.  Sometimes I wish the White Sox didn't win the world series so the owner would have nothing to hang his pathetic hat or legacy on.

All the bullshit he pulled with former owners and presidents in his pocket is coming home to roost.

Most notably cancelling the world series and getting Harold BAines into the Hall of Fame.  Baines is a top three favorite player of mine.

No one said the Sox didn't benefit.

But they did accommodate him long before it was written into his deal.  They didn't have to do it, and they did.  And he left anyways.

White Sox had an option and didn't pick it up so he was forced out.

Bagent has 8 turnovers in 3 1/2 games.  The offense isn’t running smoother, Fields had just come off a 2 game span with 8 TDs.

its crazy to me that anyone can watch Guetsy call a game and think he isn’t a huge part of the problem.  He has no counterpunch when someone sticks the offense in the mouth

I said I felt he was 100% the problem now maybe just 90%.  The offense running smootly in that the presnap activity does not seem as hectic and guys are moved about more simply to get a read.  I also feel that the timing is better, less unnecessary timeouts and DOG calls on them.

Bagent isn't the answer but if you are looking at production from an undrafted D2 rookie playing for a coach that you say is abysmal, I'd say he may actaully be succeeding to a degree.  He looks to be a nice back up.

Larrivee was a Packers fan.  Rooney was a Cardinals fan.  They both wanted to go where their hearts were.  Ain't love great?

Benetti was a White Sox fan......continue to see just how poorly run that organization is.

This does nothing in reality but it's another opportunity for the White Sox to show they are not serious.  The optics of this are terrible as it was always a feel good story.

Yep, he is lighting it up without a great o-line, a terrible running game and Nico Collins who looked like an average at best WR in his first years as his #1 guy and a 3rd round rookie as his #2 WR.  People need to just be honest with themselves that Fields is a great athlete that can at times make plays but just hasn't shown any ability to process and make reads or make the throws you need to on a consistent basis to be a good NFL QB.

That's the stuff that is evident with Bagent v Fields but the Chicago media refuse to address.  It has to be the coaching that can't game plan for his skill set.

The offense seems to run smoother with Bagent.  He's not the answer but it does make me rethink Getsy a little and I thought Getsy was 100% the problem.

I hope this works better than the last time they traded a 2nd rounder for a player.  In this case - Sweat doesn't have the same concerns Claypool did (in terms of lockeroom and downward trend). They need to pay the guy - he is at a premium position so at least I get the fact that if they were going to give up a top notch draft asset (and they are) than this is the type of guy / position to do it for.

I would have just loved to NOT give up the pick.

I thought they still had a decent amount of cash avaialbe this year.  Get a good chunck of the deal on this year's balance sheet.

It is honestly pointless following the Bulls and Sox until Reindsorf dies or sells unless they just flat out luck into an MVP caliber player like they did with Rose.  And even then I wouldn't be confident they could built a championship team around that player.  I've saved so much money and been happier since I stopped giving Reinsdorf any money for tickets.  I just watch teams and players that I find fun to watch.  Maybe someday I'll be able to follow the Bulls closely again.

People seem to forget that Jimmy Butler was what they needed to get over the hump and converted that into Zach Levine.  Then doubled down on him.

Could one of you chicagoans tell me how to get from Naperville to champaign, Illinois via car? How do I catch I 57 from Diehl Road in Naperdale? Is it an annoying/dangerous drive or ? Thank u much.

greg, a travel app will get you there better then I.

294 now hooks up with 57 in Midlo.  That is an interchange I never thought i needed but man is it nice.  I'm thinking Dielh to 88 to 294 to 57 is the route.

BR's two QB system is what it is is.....if you have two QB's you don't have a QB.  The southside draw benefitted BR over SR as SR gets to visit your friends on 64th and Dante but Batavia is probably the only team in 7A that can beat MC.

BR's frosh/soph went 16-1 combined so things are looking bright for the new guy it appears.

  11. Bagent did the little things that Fields does not. The things that we see every other game that Bears QB's don't normally show, field awareness.   There were a lot of easy thows that he took that Fields doesn't seem to find.  These are the types of short nothing type things that move the chains that others seem to find easily.

The offense ran smoothly in regad to getting plays run, guys in place, changing things up, etc.  They seemd to always be on the same page.  With Fields....hell anyone the last few years, that is not the case.  I'm talking about the things like coming out of a time out and getting a delay of game.

  12. Kim Ng is the ideal person for JR to hire...and oddly enough was an analytical mind before they were cool in the MLB

She was with the White Sox in their heyday.  The 90s White Sox with her were as good as any era and actually one of the best in baseball over that time.  She would always be second fiddle to Kenny Williams.

She was Asst GM with the Yankees and won 3 titles

She has been around a lot of ball clubs and at a high level at MLB and is all of 54 years old.

This is easily sold as being the only option JR would make but was inconceivable in August when the Getz debacle happens.

She is someone that can become what KW was not, a leader of the organization.

Of course none of this would happen because JR is bitter she left and he's a fool.

This move would not be questioned by any media source and would be covered for months.  She could no worse then the s%*# show he ran out of town and she buffers Getz.

If there is a sale of the team on the table, the next regime can rely on her as proven commodity not only in the day to day baseball operations but has connection in the MLB front office.

Alas this has no chance of happening.

Friedman’s fingerprints are on other areas of this humiliation. The Dodgers are still clearly lacking a championship core and Friedman let two championship players walk.

Remember Seager and Cody Bellinger? Think these Dodgers could use their postseason DNA?

It’s been clear for several years that these Dodgers are built for the long stretches of the regular season, not the quick bursts of October, and their playoff hopes have paid the price.

For the first time this fall, the Dodgers’ business side is also appearing to pay the price, as there were empty seats at Dodger Stadium for Game 2 even though it was announced as a sellout.

Folks are sick of their organizational philosophy. These continuous flops are almost too much to bear. Something needs to change, or the Dodgers are going to lose their beloved grip on the community.

That something is not Roberts. That something is on the plate of Friedman. He needs to figure it out. He needs to fix it.

The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result.

    This is insane.

This sentiment is idiotic.  Baseball is a random generator sport.  Unlike the other major sports...maybe hockey is similar, the playoffs are an absolute crapshoot.  The goal of any organization should be to make it there.  Once there, all bets are off.

  14. JR claims to be a baseball fan.  If so he is watching these playoffs and saying, yes Harper, Wheeler and Verlander are doing well but what about Machado, DeGrom, Betts.....see I am right.  Jon Jay was the right play for RF.

    What a clown.

I mean, they don't really have to aspire to be Toronto. They both had two playoff appearances.  Sox actually had a better "run" - at least they got a division banner and a playoff win out of it.

Toronto's window is still open the White Sox is not was more my point.   I didn't think they would aspire to be that but I think that would have been how the White Sox window would have gone had they not made horifically bad moves.  They are not structed to do what I think they want to.

Do you really think the owner's going to change his tune and spend big in FA or trade from his MiLB system this offseason?

Doesn't seem all that likely.   Rays also facing a lot of uncertainty without Franco and Toronto's always somehow not greater than the sum of all their considerable parts.

Main positive is no more Yankees/Red Sox worship in Bristol.

Toronto is what I think the White Sox would have been if their window was open and they spent wisely  on free agents.  An oddly constructed team that doesn't really get the results they should.
